Kevin O'Neill from Kildare is a great full-back too. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 15/01/2009 15:08:03 181276 Link 0 |

At the moment its Canty, if Owens could stay free from injuries for a few years on the trot i think he would overtake him bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4655 - 15/01/2009 15:41:47 181334 Link 0 |
Hard to seperate Barry Owens & Graham Canty. Justin McMahon had a great year in '08 and maybe the man to watch in the future?? dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 15/01/2009 15:57:57 181358 Link 0 |
You prob haven't heard of him just yet but Queen's Belfast and future Fermanagh full back(should be this year) Niall McGovern local (Fermanagh) - Posts: 154 - 15/01/2009 16:02:22 181370 Link 0 |
there just gonna say were saying it cause were galwway, but hanley has been outstanding in recent seasons, anyones thoughts? i think he is very underrated! CrossBar (Galway) - Posts: 362 - 15/01/2009 16:29:03 181419 Link 0 |
When he was fully fit Owens was the best no. 3 about for me. But it's a long time since he's played there and whos to say he'll be back to his best when he's fully fit again? Personally I hope he will as he's been through so much and is incredibly strong in character, he'll certainly give it his all. mid-mon man (Monaghan) - Posts: 1680 - 15/01/2009 16:41:57 181440 Link 0 |
Ross Mc Connell is streets ahead of the lot of them... Enrico (Dublin) - Posts: 148 - 15/01/2009 16:42:21 181441 Link 0 |
It always baffles me how Graham Canty is regarded so highly as a full back. There was a strong performance in the International Rules against Barry Hall a few years ago admittedly, but I can't inderstand how he is rated so highly. Seanie Johnston kicked 6/7 points off him last year in the league for example. He looks more like a centre half back to me. Punjab (Fermanagh) - Posts: 28 - 15/01/2009 17:36:09 181550 Link 0 |

Think Graham Canty is a great player. Mickey Harte was quoted as saying that if there was a transfer market in football he would be the first player he would buy. However, I think Cork play better when he is half back line or midfield. marym (Cork) - Posts: 242 - 15/01/2009 18:20:49 181630 Link 0 |
Id give it to Canty due to his inspirational rallying ability..but Finian Hanley was the full back of 08 for me! Ross McConnell is way of the pace there im afraid Enrico. spudenator (Laois) - Posts: 1052 - 15/01/2009 18:41:27 181656 Link 0 |
