Who will win 2009 senior championship?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

St. eunan's have set the bar that every club in Donegal must aspire too,
undisputed league winners(if this was boxing the fight would've been stopped as eunan's were never gonna be matched, let alone be beaten)
Bar ardara leg 2 / glenswilly unchallanged in championship.
reserve winners
Junior winners

u21 semi finalists beaten by eventual winners

minor championship winners. and ulster semi finalists i beleve.

now i'm not a eunan's fan but i am stating fact, other clubs in donegal need to get off there arses and challenge this lot.
look at gweedore, rested on there laurel's expecting succes to come and where are they now. relegated

wat do you mean never gonna be matched..
nomh conaill put it up to them in the final and had every chance to win in the end.
im not taking anything away from them but im only saying that we put it up to them..

hope to see a few other teams put it up to them.

Think you have missed my point here ncultra I am clarifying something for Tidytowns man not knocking other clubs and I have also pointed out how impressive Naomh Conaill have been in 2008 I don't like people who make snipes at other clubs should it be my club or anyone else's and if Eunans wasn't in the Co.Final I'd still be in Mc Cumhaill Park on Co. final day.

i think eunans could be in for a big surprise this year after getting it all their own way for the last couple of years from what ihave seen of naomh conaill in the past they are a very young side with a lot of very good players who look to have the potential to take eunans mantleas the best team in the county. gaoth dobhair are also a team with enormous potential to go the whole way if they can get back to the form they were showing afew years ago and being relegated might actually make it easier them in the championship.and that is without looking at four masters dungloe and glenswilly who havent really been at their bestlately it seems the whole county has sat back for the last two years and taken a holiday.well hopefolly they will all take the finger out because there is more than one club capable of taking on and beating eunans

winger, i'm not talking about the knockout phase of the league, which by the way i dont agree with.
a league is a league.
look how Naomh Coloumba got shafted in the div 2 league, finished 2nd and don't get promoted despite finishing 8 points ahead of naomh mhuire.
A league should not end up in a knockout stage, the consistent teams deserve to be the winners/promoted teams.
But this is only my opinion

pointer if u read my post u will see i was not having a go at u but at eunans4ever who called n conaill fans filth which as isaid says more about him than about n conaills supporters who tend to support their team wholeheartedly

mckennacup09 while iagree with you that the league should just be a league, if you win the league then that should be it no second chance for finishing second or third.wingers point is also valid when facing eunans in the final n conaill did put it up to them hopefully a few more teams will be able to do this in 2009 as it will be good for football in donegal.

tirconaillabu you and me i believe are getting at the same point here
All clubs need to get off there arses and match eunans consistency.
Naomh conaill have a great group of lads coming thru and doubtless there will be some great battles over the next ten years between the clubs

Glenties .Have to be the most hated shower in the county..They take away from some fine footballers on the pitch who even get embarrased themselves listnin to the foul mouth yobs in the crowd who dont give any consideration to woman or young kids sitting beside them from their own club or oppositions.. They have to be most hated fans of all time in the county... Yea people dislike st.Eunans but aren't all successful teams hated(jealously more than anything).??

Sorry Ncultra misread you I don't know who eunans4ever is but he doesn't reflect the overall view of our supporters and I don't condone that type of talk no room for it within our club in my opinion.

Manager2 and winger your comments about Sligo and Westmeath are nothing but a cheap shot at Eunans but for the record the Sligo man on our team has more connection with Letterkenny and Donegal than with Sligo and the Westmeath man is married into our community so he can;t go home every week and leave his wife and children just to please the likes of you it's not to many years ago a Mayo man lined out for Donegal or are you to young to remember that he played with the county but for the record the rest of our players come through and have played undreage football with our club yes even D

eunans4ever...what a stupid comment to make.who are you to come on here and say that players are even embarressed by their fans.get some facts right before you start that. this thread asked who will win 09 championship, NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with your 'contribution' which frankly this board doesnt need.

Eunans4ever you are not doing our club any favours by some of the remarks you are making we may have had a few hot headed matches with Glenties recently where some supporters on both sides went a bit far but anyone who was at the league final which I was one saw a class game of football by two good teams played in a sporting manner football was the winner so lets get on with the football and forget the argy bargy stuff it is true Glenties had a good support at the league final and if they had of win it would mean a lot to the folk in that area a lot more than what it would have meant to us here in the town as championship is always the talk around here during the summer the league is only followed by the faithful.

i think you will find eunans fans are the ones who hate n conaill because they know their time at the top is coming to an end u hate n conaill because they dont lie down to u like every one else, with our current team and more of the u 21s to come in we will be the team to beat in the county over the next ten years you are just jealous that our supporters turn up in big numbers and back our team unlike eunans who get their players from anywhere they can and for the size of the town have a tiny support .n conaill players are born and bred n conaill men.

Now Now we all know that's not true....... and I'm guessing u want me to back this up...... Well I'd only be delighted Let me see where will I start...... 1. Eoin Wade Not born in Glenties moved there from Armagh if I'm not mistaken. 2. Dara Gallagher Not born in Glenties moved there from Ardara if I'm not mistaken. 3. Sean Molloy (Ex Goalkeeper) Think he might have lived in Glenties Parish but definitely played for McCools in his underage days. 4. A few others I'm not sure about but definitely could be classed as from outside Corcoran, O'Malley. 5. Also members of other teams in the Club such as Cundy surely he is a Robert Emmetts Man in a Previous Life. Anyway think I'll leave it there.... MY POINT IS THERE ARE A LOT OF TEAMS OUT THERE WHO HAVE PLAYERS OR CLUB MEMBERS WHO HAVE MOVED TO THERE TOWN THIS IS NOT A CRIME BUT SHOWS THE SPIRIT OF THE GAA IN WELCOMING AND OPENING THE DOORS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PLAY THE GAME WHEREEVER THEY ARE FROM.

boydonegood while all of naomh conaills players may not have been born in the parish i think you will find they all have played underage for the club, not that we have anything against players playing for us who move into the parish but unlike eunans we do not actively try to poach players from other clubs
