In response to all the negativity about Smiths transfer: is it so bad that the lad has a bit of ambition?its fair to say that bective have little or no hope of become intermediate anytime soon so why should he waste away with them and more than likely be victimised at junior level by social footballers.if he doesnt make it at o mahonys then tough luck he made the wrong choice, personally i think he will start this year if he gets the move seen him with the minors in 08

Leitrim and Sligo have some very good footballers and have very little chance of winning anything but you wouldn't hear them say they wished they played for Galway or Mayo where they are virtually guaranteed success. They are proud to play for the county they grew up in and supported all their life and try to win something for them.

187555 Dellyboypolecat - You're obviously a wind up merchant. Keep your stupid comments to yourself and stick to posting on the Tyrone message board. If you have something sensible to say please do so but comments like "Your club is for life and o mahonys cant win anything with there own they have to get players from other clubs" make you look very silly.

FYI - Navan O Mahonys - Meath Senior Fotball Champions 2008 - every single player played all their underage football with O'Mahonys.

So you are talking dung.

So your telling me o mahonys have not got underage players from other clubs while they where underage and senior players from other clubs . I will let you do research on that . And darragh smith he is with bective and yous are poaching him .

Pascall mc connell plays for a junior club he is not wasted away . And his club are there now for a long time so if your club is junior you should go to another club . Wise up such a statement .

Dellyboypolecat - I do not need to do my research. I know the facts. O Mahonys have one of the best underage structures in the counties and have one numerous underage titles in the past 15 years - the fruits of which are now being shown on the Senior team. As I said before EVERY player on the team has played ALL their underage football for the club.

If you want to dispute that fact please name me one player who played senior for O'Mahonys last year who didn't play all his underage for the club.

OTHERWISE STOP TALKING DUNG. This is a serious message board. You might be better off sticking with BEBO with your silly little comments.

John_3_7 -almost all the lads on the current O'Mahonys senior team have minor medals & u21 medals and enjoyed significant success at underage level. In the last few years maybe O'Mahonys haven't been as successful with the lads coming through but my point is that their current success is built on the work that was done with those lads at underage level - not through players transferring from other clubs as Dellyboypolecat is stupidly suggesting.

Re; The Grunt

I agree with you. But in the last 5 years there has been little success for minor down. There current crop have all came up the underage system but in about 5 years o mahonys will struggle

Only 1 player on the omahonys panel last didnt play underage football with them ,but he played all his underage hurling with them.As for smyth he played hurling with omahonys from under 11 and has a great chance of being on their senior team this year. So why should he be stopped from playing football with the team he wants to as he is a member of the club already.Typical gaa.

Sean Keating played for bective underage

smith will know at the next board meeting, the 2nd of febuary it is. in response to some comments sean keating also played underage with o mahonys he moved aged 13 or 14. smith has never played any adult with bective as his own choice so to say bective are losing him is a bit false as they never really had him, just minor in the lower divisions. its like keeping a lad at in the conference when hes capable at playing in the premiership, how could he possibly reach his potential? the poor lad he should be let go

Dellboypalecat. As usual you get your 'supposed facts' incorrect - nobody is trying to poach Smith as he wants to transfer to NOM - fact.

John_3_7 . If you know anything worthwhile about football you should know that no club is going to win every competition at underage level every year. And you can have good underage team without winning a competition. Some of their teams in the last couple of years have reached Div 1 finals to be beaten by a single score. If you are good enough you are up there with the best and only one team wins the competition!

Bective. There are players at underage level playing with Bective who have played at underage level with NOM and I'm not sure when they would have obtained their transfers. It is good to see 3 clubs prospering in the parish of Navan, however it is fairly obvious that playing with a senior club will improve you football (most of the people who disagree with me on this are the ones who never played at a higher level). When John McDermot transfered to Skryne I did not come across to many people moaning about his move and the rest is history
