Any interesting transfers in Meath.

I can understand why Longwood wouldn't sign the transfer of Rory Maguire to Wolfe Tones seeing as there is a real chance that they could be drawn against them in the Junior Championship. Maguires transfer to the Tones would serve to strengthen their Senior and in turn their Junior squad. As he is moving to Moynalty, his transfer to them is no threat to Longwood ..... for this year at least. I think most people in Longwood wish Rory the best and would like to see him succeed with the county squad which, I believe, is his main reason for leaving Longwood.

I'm with Dellboypolecat on this one. I could never imagine leaving the club I played with for all of my life and leaving for a bigger, more successful club. Fair enough if you live there and you should not be forced to commutee long distances but this isn't the case with D. Smith.

Darragh Smith lives in the parish of Navan and his father has a business in the town. All his people played for NOM and if reason prevails he should be allowed to play his adult football for the senior team of his choice within the parish. I do not think he will be allowed to transfer however. He is a young man with talent which would be better served from a county prespective if he was playing at a higher level in senior competition. I think this could be the third year that he has applied to transfer. Very few players progress from junior clubs for obvious reasons and the comment by 12Royal about players who played junior is quite irrelevant in this instance. I did not see too many whinging when John McDermott moved from a junior club to play with Skreen and then on to the County and the rest is history - forked tongue comes to mind!!!

Players should only be allowed to move clubs if their commute is too long. If you allow players to move from smaller junior clubs to senior clubs in search of glory...the junior championship will become a farce...bective minors have had decent teams in the past 2 years competing in division 2 or 3 and very much holding their own.

These transfers always throw up cases for an against. If you remember Simonstown got 2 players in from Dublin..both living in Johnstown parish..yet Walterstown didnt seem to have a say..does it matter anymore where ya live?..or is it a situation of plead your case to the board and see what happens?

Your wrong he should stay loyal to the team he grew up with . Your club is for life and o mahonys cant win anything with there own they have to get players from other clubs .

I think Rory Maguires father has built a big house in Moynalty, all that about getting a site and car is gibberish. No club can afford to give out those sort of luxuries these days I wish people would stick to the facts instead of making things up like auld women.

Ah I see the main page has changed him looking for a transfer to the Tones now...so all you people going on about a site, car etc are sadly liars!!
Good luck to him, it would be a major coup for the Tones

Dellyboypolecat - You're obviously a wind up merchant. Keep your stupid comments to yourself and stick to posting on the Tyrone message board. If you have something sensible to say please do so but comments like "Your club is for life and o mahonys cant win anything with there own they have to get players from other clubs" make you look very silly.

FYI - Navan O Mahonys - Meath Senior Fotball Champions 2008 - every single player played all their underage football with O'Mahonys.

So you are talking dung.
