When does the county board decide on the transfers, I know Darragh Smyth has been looking for his for a couple of years now, Meade to Tones would be some move...that would make the senior championship even more interesting, but Rathkenny would really struggle, especially if they have lost a lot of players like previously suggested, especially John Donegan who was brought on against Dublin a couple of years ago and did well updaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 1132 - 14/01/2009 14:39:23 180231 Link 0 |

I heard on the radio this morning that Anthony Moyles is trying to transter away from Blackhall, a couple of Dublin clubs were mentioned aloung with Dunboyne......it would seem like a very strange move for Moyles to transfer to one of Blackhall's main rivals, anyone know if he had a fall-out with the club or is it just a case of moving closer to where he is working/living? Would be a huge loss to Blackhall!! Thunderstruck (Meath) - Posts: 483 - 14/01/2009 15:20:11 180286 Link 0 |

Moyles is living in Dublin so that's the reason he's looking to transfer. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 2024 - 14/01/2009 18:41:10 180505 Link 0 |

Transfers that were signed by both clubs were formalised on monday night at a meeting.Any transfer that wasnt signed by both clubs must have a special hearing case which will be taking place individually over the next two weeks. Obama08 (Meath) - Posts: 84 - 15/01/2009 14:49:55 181242 Link 0 |

Ivan looked for one last year but he was too late, think he's moving to try and get first team football. Seldom started at Rathkenny. posh (Meath) - Posts: 633 - 15/01/2009 15:19:40 181294 Link 0 |

In relation to the moyles one, since he is living in dublin is it not true that he can't be stopped? I'd say that his transfer to Dunboyne was blocked. Correct me if im wrong. Also article on it here. Pretty strange wanting to play for 3 clubs that all border one another. Fabio Capello (Meath) - Posts: 174 - 15/01/2009 16:27:05 181414 Link 0 |

Anyone know what is the reason behind Darragh Smith's proposed transfer to O' Mahonys? Is he living in Navan? If its a case of getting a transfer just to be part of a senior club I don't think it should be sanctioned. There is no doubt that he is a quality player but I think it is unfair to junior clubs if some of their best players transfer just to play senior, people give up there time to train youngsters so that some day these players will lead their club to success. Young players should show loyalty to their club, the spirit of the GAA is lost if players abandon their parish just to be part of a bigger club. Bective have put a massive effort into underage over the last couple of years and I think it should be a challenge to any young player to lead a junior club up through the ranks to battle it out in senior football at some stage in the future. Surely a junior and intermediate championship with the club you have grown up as part of with would mean more than a couple of senior medals with a team that a player shouldn't really belong to!! Thunderstruck, I completely agree with this sum-up. If I had a choice I would definitely stay with my home club, and try and bring them up through the ranks, these are the lads you have grown up with, played with them or their brothers, cousins etc from the age of 8 and surely that has to mean something when it comes to adult football. The parish is the whole point of the game and the honour of pulling on your club jersey and representing your neighbours, family, "auld Jimmy down the way" etc etc!! updaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 1132 - 15/01/2009 22:45:54 181875 Link 0 |
