A more important game then the Mckenna Cup final, although it would have been nice to get silverware. It was good to see Jason McGlaugin make his first appearance of the year against Tyrone and Mark Mckeever coming off the bench, Mckeever still has a lot to offer for Cavan. Not sure if the u21's will be involved against Wexford as Cavan u21's are playing on the 12th. Wexford will be looking to bounce back after being well beaten by Ross in round 2, they are without Lee Chin this year, concentrating on Hurling. Redmond Barry and David Murphy have retired so they are not as strong as other years, Ciaran Lyng carrying an injury too. But they still have good talent without those players and will be a tough game. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2896 - 21/02/2014 14:54:44 1549670 Link 0 |
When the fixtures first came out we probably would have considered this to be our toughest match, Wexford haven't been overly impressive so far but a win down there would be a massive step towards promotion. Cavan by 3 EatMyFish (Cavan) - Posts: 205 - 21/02/2014 16:45:56 1549721 Link 0 |
Without doubt this is the most important game to date in 2014, a win and promotion is then a stong probability. We should win but it won't be easy, no away game in the league is! kildare blue (Cavan) - Posts: 578 - 21/02/2014 18:39:36 1549786 Link 0 |
Never mind the McKenna cup, this is the one that matters. Good to see Jason Mcloughlin and gearoid get some game time and Mackey and Givney back. We can win this but it will be a tough test for us. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 21/02/2014 19:38:00 1549805 Link 0 |
Hope Eugene Keating is ok he came of holding hamstring? in Tuam. Why did Joe Kiernan play so.many Tyrone & Cavan players after their game on Wednesday, no wonder they ran out of steam in the second half. Other players had two weeks rest. Well done Connaught & good luck Cavan next Sunday. fifty (Mayo) - Posts: 109 - 23/02/2014 20:25:41 1550437 Link 0 |
Kernan started Givney in the Railway Cup final last year, the day after playing in the Sigerson Final, and playing Semi on the friday. Not much care for player welfare. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2896 - 23/02/2014 20:38:26 1550447 Link 0 |
The last thing we need is an injury to Keating who is in the form of his life lately! Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 23/02/2014 21:38:51 1550490 Link 0 |
well, keirnan is an armagh man after all. its in his interest to tire out cavan and tyrone players. how many armagh players were playing in the inter-pros this year.... thats right... none s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5522 - 24/02/2014 20:26:59 1550904 Link 0 |
so your reckon the players will still be tired from this game come the ulster championship? wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1737 - 24/02/2014 21:09:05 1550933 Link 0 |
Interesting conspiracy S goldrick...... Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 24/02/2014 21:14:42 1550936 Link 0 |
Any truth to a Keating injury? That would be a disaster before Wexford. Hamstring, if gone, could keep him out for 4-6 weeks. If this is true by the way???!!! Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 357 - 24/02/2014 21:31:33 1550945 Link 0 |
He went off after 12 minutes, must be something. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2896 - 24/02/2014 21:40:47 1550951 Link 0 |
I agree with you FoolsGold it must be something serious for a player to leave the field so early on. RoyalBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 198 - 25/02/2014 10:14:04 1551003 Link 0 |

I hope your right sean but there should be no risks taken with him if he is injured...we can still win this game without him.. Mackey went off early as well so I wonder what the story is there. He looked very good in the Tyrone game so lets hope he makes it.. Playing either or both carrying an injury would be silly as we have enough quality in the squad to get us trough this game in my opinion...but it will be tough...!! Yeah great to see Ronan back. He had some brilliant last year for Cavan, hopefully he can get back to that level. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2896 - 25/02/2014 19:31:13 1551325 Link 0 |
