Cavan Gaels v Ballinagh

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Sorry folks, previous post should have read Well done the Neagh, living proof that a proper team is stronger than the sum of it's individual parts. Anyway, you knew that. Great boost to the rest of the clubs around the county and encouragement to raise their game and plan for success.

Yes I heard Mackey was a target in semi alright with a few Gaels players receiving Yellow cards for tackles on him.
Pretty bad by all accounts.

Cavan Gaels seem to be all about individuals alright. No team ettic apparent.

Any Cavan clubman I have ever spoken to say the same.

Ballinagh winning will indeed inspire so called lesser clubs in Cavan going forward.

Good to see smaller clubs doing well.

ps. I think the whole Johnston transfer issue was a disgrace and made the GAA look very silly indeed.
But sure he will be back playing for Cavan next year after all that mess before... crazy stuff...

First of all congratulations to Ballinagh on a deserved win on Sunday and best of luck in Ulster. They were the hungrier team on the day and deserve their day in the Sun. Cavan Gaels players like the Eamon Sean and Domnic Reilly, Karol Crotty, Gavin Duffy, Cathay Collins, Sean Johnstone Michael lyng owe club football in this county nothing. Some will more than likely call it a day and can leave Cavan club football with their heads held high and a pocket full of medals in all grades from schoolboy up.They have been great ambassadors for their club and had fantastic success this past number of years. Their younger must now step up again as other teams are now taking a leaf out of the Gaels book by investing in underage like the Gaels did all those years ago. 4 different winners in the last 4 years gives great incentive for other clubs to make the breakthrough.

JamsieMac not thT it's any of your business but yes I am from Kill . I'm not narrow minded nor anti Gaels like most ppl here. I admire them for their success at both underage and Senior this past 13 years or so.

Are you bitter because your a Gaels man, or did Ballinagh winning cost you a lot of money? Like it did to many.

Great to see Podge get across the line with a winners medal last Sunday. A true gent and a credit to his county, club and family!

Great to see young McDermott get a senior medal too. His old man never got one but now at least they have one between them in the household.

This would be the difference between the Gaels and Ballinagh
The Gaels fellows would have pocketful of medals whereas Ballinagh would not have many medals at all

Ballinagh winning the senior championship was an absolute credit. A group of young players who showed top notch spirit, courage and hunger. A credit to the parish, there failies and there county and most importantly themselves. Everyy player stood up to the mark and winning on sundayy is as good as winning 10 senior championships fort this young team. legends.

I would say the Gaels players would be happy to exchange a few for an Ulster club medal that Ballinagh have, I know its only an intermediate one but what a medal.
Tom drop into Keogan and down a few with your mates.

Sean o Rinn well Collins and chesty must have 8 senior medals each as has the great Jim Reilly from kingscourt. I can tell you one thing none of those 3 would swap a Senior medal for an Ulster Intermediate medal for the simple reason they never played intermediate football so it wouldn't mean anything to them. 8 Senior medals is some record in modern times

I wonder how many medals Pierce McKenna has throughout his career?

I am taking nothing away from any of the player's you have mentioned especially chesty and the Doc for they serve their club well as did the doc with his county I am taking nothing away from Jim either But regardless dirtybag an Ulster club medal at junior intermediate or senior is special.
Maybe Ballinagh might show a few how to progress in Ulster at senior level time will tell for sure. It would be fantastic for such outsiders in the senior match last week to go and contest an Ulster senior club final. Good luck Ballinagh.

How is it Dirtbag that you never posted a comment on the junior championship threads given you are a Kill man? Yet you never done commenting on the Gaels. For me the Gaels were never a "team" and could therefore never be greater than the sum of their parts. Ballinagh on the other hand are the opposite.

Seano Rinn.

While I wish Ballinagh well in this victory I feel that for the better of Cavan Football a big club winning the senior championship is best.
If you look at when the senior County Cavan team was doing well in the past you always had a big team winning the County championship.
And last but not least don't forget Ballinaghs last run in the intermediate championship.
Do you remember it Shaun
