Next game??? Tom are you for real??? I agree with freedom of speech but find it very hard to agree with nutters!!! P45 time for Mr Keoghan and find a man who can talk to players not alienate them, have a game plan and not Plan A, Plan A and then Plan A if all else fails.

Well Pauliewalnuts tell me what Donal Keogan did wrong yet. He will not suffer fools litely and he has shown a human side by having the three players who went to the States last year back into the team. Has taken a bunch of poor footballers to win over antrim and ran Armagh very well untill a few junior footballes let him down.

Cavan is at alow ebb and it is not the managers fault, we neeed better underage coaching structure that will bring on good footballers , and then get them into senior teams

Breffniblues you think that all Cavans woes will end if Donal Keogan gets his P 45 . well I have covered football for years in Cavan and the same was said about many fine managers that were hounded out of the job

Is Tomsmith related to D.K. I dont know what he means by "covering football in Cavan for many years" because he obviously knows very little about it if he thinks D.K. is a good manager. D.K. has his favourites and other good players suffer as a result.

Cavan Slasher I have followed your posts and you are very negative in your views.
What I have said is that Donal Keogan is the right man for the job.
He i s home grown and as such he, a lot of people feel that he is only in it for the money.
I can say that Donal Keogan is a brilliant manager who has don e wonders with a poor Cavan panel.

What other manager would stay with us when the Chicago 3 situation arose ?

"I can say that Donal Keogan is a brilliant manager who has done wonders with a poor Cavan panel."

Ha ha, that hillarious! He has done wonders? What has he done this year? Got us relegated from the league, beat Antrim in the preliminary round of the championship, and then loose to Armagh.
On another note, does anybody know anything about some of the players leaving the panel? Has anybody been brought in to replace them? It seems a little bit late to still be bringing in lads into the panel.

Tomsmith, your last post makes no sense at all. Cavan football is at an all time low. Players under D.K. leaving the panel againand going on the drink to celebrate a loss. He won one league match and beat a minnow in c/ship. How is he successful ? Please explain. I believe there are better players who feel they wont get a chance under D.K.

P.S. My views if negative reflect the standard of football in Cavan at the moment. Passionate Cavan supporters deserve more. How could you nominate a complete failure for person of the year and what sport have you covered.... darts?

Cavan Slasher I still say he is the man for the job.
Hill man If that is the sam e Paul Cullen from Kill junior club, I saw him as a minor an d he did not impress mme, but I am sure that Donal Keogan who is a fine judge of talent will take your views on board

Football in Cavan is in need of an entire overhaul in terms of coaching from underage right the way up. Every coach in the county should be singing from the same hymn sheet if we want to produce players who can play to a system, play in away which best exploits their abilities and learn the right habits. Its extremely difficult as a player to take in 10 different opinions on how to play. A players father who trys his hand at management at underage level for years to get the ball kick it as long as you can into the general area of the 'star' player is not good enough anymore. This is just an example, another for instance was the paln of playing dermot mccabe on the edge of the square which didnt work because the ball wasn't played in right. One match playing this tactic is not enough time to hone it. For the last 4-5 years the cavan forwards have been trained to kick low balls into a small 2 man full forward line now that tactic been scrapped. Armaghs style of play took years of work on the training ground, kerry have been playing the same kind of way for 20 years. For example Ive been playing for ten years and at underage level i never heard of any style of play other than hit it long and hard, and then when we get to senior level they wonder why we kick away possession so much!

What Cavan needs now is a root and branch clean out.
A start would be to install real GAA men in the big GAA schools that supplied the bulk of men to County teams in the past.
As I hav e said look at St Pats St Aidens the numbers comming on to the Cavan team from these have dimished somewhat.

I have to say am very disappointed with the midfielders on the panel. This was our main problem last year and their are no changes. How do we expect it to be any better this yr. In my opinion I dont this John Cunningham is no where near county standard. He is not even good enough for a div 1 team. Seen Swad play 3 times this year. Each time he failed to impress. Looked very ordinary. On the other hand Swad had a young lad (think he is McKiernan). He looked to have potential and outshone Cunningham every time. Why not give this lad a chance.

I am delighted that Thomas Carr Donal Keoghan's replacement as Senior Team manager took my advice concerning Divisional/Super teams.
Perhaps the doubters that expressed so much fear/apprehensive about such teams will now see the worth in them.

Tom - Tommy Carr was looking for your number last night. He wanted a chat about a few of the Junior players from country teams. He would appreciate the opportunity to have a teleconference with you where you could share your ideas with some of the decision makers in the County Board. He follows all your threads very carefully and would love the opportunity to widen your appeal to County Board members who are not as IT literate as him or indeed yourself.
