I think we will always have the ultra negative "boyos" like above but to be honest a few of them have vanished in the last year or so- Surprise, surprise. Well maybe it is because we have been successful and they cant slag Terry or some of the players.

As somebody said it is a 20 man game and the 5 subs are just as important if not more important than the starting 15. The team picked is a nice blend of seasoned guys and the younger u21 players. Only Terry and the mentors know who is flying in Training. A lad could have starred aginst Monaghan in the Lge but maybe has lost form a bit.
From reports the team selected probably wont line out that way. People are saying Killian Clarke to mid field. I wouldent quibble with that. There is probably 2 or 3 who are carrying knocks and the modern game demands fit players from the start.
I really hope we have our shooting boots on Sunday. If we can convert our chances and forwards have the confidence to shoot then we will do well on Sunday.
So lads get behind the lads. They will all give us 100% and what more can we ask of them? It is far to long for a great county like Cavan to be in the doldrums. We have a rich footballing heritage and it is time we made people look up and take note. I know lots of other counties have started to comment on us after our underage success. They think it will transfer to Senior soon.
So best of luck to Terry, mentors and the whole panel. We are all behind you!!!!

we are not slagging , we are stating the obvious, we have not being successfull at senior level yet.. we are a long way off having the strenght and physic that donegal and tyrone have... we are still developing and you cant expect to much yet... as we saw against kildare last year, it was men against boys, with emmett bolton and tomas o connor overpowering us in everyting they did.... Or maybe some people have forgotten that game, i certainly havent (a hidding)

I am not being negative but stating the facts

Cavan football will come again but we must be patient and have to wait till these young men develop

Is it the cavan seniors or u21s playing Armagh on Sunday. Seniors not successful in long long time.

What is your point? 10 Seniors are playing. They all have Senior Championship experience bar Martin Dunne. 4 U21'S. Fergal Flanagan, Jack Brady,Killian Clarke,
Jason McGlauglin have all Senior Championship experience. Conor Gilsenan doesn't.

The majority of these posts make me sick. I have been around a long time and never seen so much negativity around a team selection. Terry is the man in charge, he picks lads on form and in relation to what threats the opposition have. And to the poster who said Jack Brady and Feargal Flanagan are over rated, your credibility in future posts just deserted you my friend. They have 6 u21 championship medals between them, they never lost a game in ulster at u21 grade. Brady was playing on DCU teams that included Michael murphy, Paul flynn, David Kelly. I even hear he was taking pain killer injections to get through the u21 campaign, which is a measure of all the young lads character. He is still a doubt for Sunday anyway according to reports. Flanagan is probably the best player in the county at winning dirty ball and is a real leader on the pitch. Jason mcloughlin kept mcbrearty quiet for a good 45 minutes and his two turnovers at the start of the game gave those around him confidence. These young lads have the desire, heart, and passion for the jersey that is infectious, well for me anyway. I would give anything to turn back the clock a few years and have the chance to play with them. They are winners, and the sooner you people recognise this the better. For the sake of these young lads and the many more, show them the respect they deserve and wish them luck, they have done more for cavan football on the field in the last 3 years than many have done in a lifetime! All the best lads. An Cabhan Abu. 3 point win.

First time here as a poster, been reading the crap posted here and on the Gaa Discussion Board Website. Gota feeling this Board might be more genuine than the "lick Ass" Gaa Discussion Board Website, where you have guys like Mylestheslasher and Itchy(both who are the same person) answering each others posts lol.Only Killeshandra men could play that mind game lol.

Anyway back to the more important matters of a potential hiding by Armagh ive 3 questions to pose for all the posters here.

5 out of the 6 teams that got promotion in the National League all had new managers in their first year.
So why do we Cavan after successive U21 titles need 4 years to show improvement? When the likes of Monaghan, Meath,Derry, Offaly, Limerick can all get promotion with Managers in their FIRST year. And no back up Underage sucess like we have.
Why does Hyland need to show so many changes from last year if its called work in progress?

have waited a few days before posting, the passion of posters here is sorta unique, cavan people like their ball. galloping gazelle wants no comments on the emperor's new clothes at all.some posters not happy with the 21s being brought in are going overboard in their criticism of these young players. is the crux of the debate the inclusion of the 21s or the inclusion of the 21s at the expense of more experienced players. it would be hard for any player not currently under 21 (or under 21 in 2014) to take on to commit to a senior panel in November next, make all the sacrifices of both career and social/family life, train like a professional knowing that come championship said player will more than likely be dropped to make place for any under 21 who shows promise during march/april when their competition is on. this policy and it looks like hylands policy is to use the 22-30 year olds for the league but then discard them. can we afford to dump good players at age 22 because some flashy u 21 has had a good run at that age level? i dont think so, i think such a policy is short sighted, ill advised and counterproductive. my own opinion is that jack brady is the only one of these players ready for the step up followed closely by killian clarke. the others are good under 21s but not superior to the lads who have been left sitting on the bench. if the lads who have been dropped and theres a lot of them this is not just 1 or 2 players, if they were given as much encouragement, opportunity and praise in the media from hyland as he affords his chosen few then we would have a really strong squad that hyland could take credit for developing. unfortunately the team selection and therefore cavan football is once again the victim of amateurish favouritism, and these young players are caught in the middle of it .i might add that the whole sorry saga is added to by the public relations dept and the local media in cavan who all seem to be on this merry bandwagon. no one wants to ask or answer the hard questions and a decade of good footballers are taken for fools. i would like a winning cavan team, i am a life long cavan fan. i like open debate it is healthy it is not whinging.

Do you not think we have shown improvement in this years league? Lost 2 games by two pts. Played for over 50 minutes against Fermanagh with 14 men, in a crucial game for promotion. The final game against Ross was a poor diplay with not the strongest team out. Compare this years League to the previous 2 years and that was a big improvement. Meath scrapped promotion on the Final day in Navan against Fermanagh. Fermanagh missed a penalty in that game too. Why are you even talking about Division 4 teams, ie: Limerick and Offaly. That's not even relevant. Its the lowest Division of football, any manager worth their salt would get a half decent team from that Divison

What changes are you talking about? 2 players are making their Championship debut. Martin Dunne has played lots of League football this year and last year, so hardly a newcomer.

Not long left til throw in. Fans are diverse in their views, thats what makes things tick in sport, its part of the excitement. I don't agree with Terry's selection, there are few who do. But I'll sure as hell support our lads no matter who is playing. Yes, I think certain players are undeserving of their place, but I'll back them to the hilt once they take to the field. I have always defended Cavan football to the last degree, and that has not been easy the last 10 years. You can't have a conversation with people from, Dublin, Tyrone, Cork, Kerry, Kildare, Donegal etc about football because you won't be taken seriously being from Cavan. Few people nowadays were alive when we used to beat all before us. You get laughed at and ridiculed and the usual "sure what would you know, Cavan are s***e". And each and every time I have defended them.

So please, show a bit of heart Sunday lads, remember that jersey you're wearing has 5 AI titles, a lot more than Armagh will ever have, and start the process of putting Cavan football back where it belongs alongside Kerry, Dublin, Galway and Meath as one of the great counties of Gaelic Football. Mayo and Tyrone are modern day pretenders.

An Cabhán Abú.

Its amazing, but there does not seem to be a thread for Sundays game on the Armagh page. There is a however a vote on their chances against us and they are not positive about their chances

How far can Armagh go in this year's Ulster SFC?

We won't get over Cavan in the preliminary round 55%

The draw has been kind and I expect us to get to the final 33%

I fancy us for a first Anglo Celt success since 2006 11%

They dont fancy their chances so lets confirm their doubts and lack of faith in their team and beat them in Breffni this Sunday.
We all have different opinions on the team selection but at the end of the day 15+ lads will tog out in our county colours to represent us.
They will not lack passion, will or skill so lets stop the squabbling as it will achieve nothing at this stage and lets all get behind the bouys in blue.
C'mon Cavan

I think everyone has their views but I dont agree that "some players are undeserving of their place" . I have watched all of these players over the last few years, Senior, u21 and even Minor and they are all fine players who have shown great dedication and love of their countys jersey as well as an awful lot of talent and skill. Personally I would like to have seen John McCutcheon and Mark McKeever start but maybe they are better being brought on in the second half. Maybe McKeever has an injury! Only Terry and his mentors know who is going best in training and challenge games. But we are blessed now to have a large squad of players and every one of the panel can step in and hold their own if required.
I feel Terry was right to go with 5 u21's as their spirit and enthusism will lift everybody else. Also 3 of these u21's played last year so they are well able to handle the pressure.
I havent seen the subs but I presume a few more of the u21's are in there. It really is time for "all" supporters to come out and support this team. Stop being negative and try and give the lads a boost before Sunday. A lot of these lads have provincial medals at minor and u21 so please dont belittle their achievements. The older players have also stepped up to the mark, lads like Mackey, R.Dunne, A.Clarke, Keating, Flanagan ,Mc Keever have put in a huge effort. For many, many years if we won an underage championship game we would be ecstatic, so feel proud of what all these lads have achieved.
OK it has to be transferred up to Senior but it will happen and hopefully Sunday will be the start.
Also good luck to the minors. I hear they ran a very good Tipp team to a few points so there is hope there as well.
Keep the Blue flag flying!!!!
