Is the price of an All Ireland ticket too expensive?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I want your opinion is the price of the gate tickets to get into the All Ireland far too dear
If you take a man with a wife and two young ones it will cost 320 euros,
Then the trip up petrol, toll money, money to pay at a Chapel ( you still have to put in your envelope back home), a bite to eat if you dont take a flask it all adds up to a odous amount of money for a game of GAA football.
It is questionable if one will be forced to look at the wireless and listen to the game in the years to come.
I feel that the Gaa should have some plan in place to help people that are low on funds

Tomsmith here,
Millhouse no such person exists in real life in Cavan This is a make believe name like Limbo or the boogie man.
So wise up and ger your facts right before you ask anyone to type your letter up.

There is only one all Ireland football final each year and if you want to be there you have to pay the going price. When you compare it to tickets for concerts like leonard Cohen it is not expensive. Nobody is forced to go to the match and it is televised so I don't know why you are complaining. If Cavan were in the all ireland final I don't think any supporter would be complaining about the price of the tickets we would be more worried about them winning.

80e for a ticket to an All-Ireland final to watch 70 mins of football is a total rip-off, given the hard times were living in now...

There are two matches on a minor and a senior.if football is your sport it is worth it the same way some people are willing to pay 100 euro to see a band they really like. It's the law of supply and demand.

90% of those go to watch the senior AI final more so, and 80e is way too steep and overpriced, 50e is more than enough, for the AI final.

The laws of supply and demand. Croker will be full to capacity, therefore the tickets are not overpriced. Those sold on the black market will go for a lot more than face value, the demand is there, even though the game is shown live and for free on TV.

Ergo, the tickets are probably underpriced.

Lifebuoy,

I fully agree with you that the Ticket price is far too expensive.
If you look at my posts I have been consistent in the past raising the issue that All Ireland prices are for the rich only.
It is gone to a price that only big corporate buisness people will only be able to afford the tickets.
How can a man from Cavan who has the highest unemployment rate in the North East be able to pay E80 for a Ticket, take his wife and maybe he may have to take the Mother in Law up to Dublin .E 240 for Gate prices before he leaves Cavan ,Toll money, F ood stuffs, parking, papers, Diesel money, and sure if one stops in Virgina, the bent Elbow or Lavey Inn it will be at least E5 for for two minerals and whatever mammy in Law is taking will put it up to E10. That all adds up to a big hole in ones living allowance for the week.

If you compare it to what you will be paying to enter Clones for the Ulster matches I would say Croke Park is a reasonable price to pay for the comfort and the atmosphere. How much is to go to a micky mouse soccer league of Ireland match here in the Republic of Ireland 30 or forty euro maybe more and for what. Croke Park is an outstanding venue when full with honest to god GAA supporters. I hope before I pass on that I will get a chance to watch my adopted county Cavan play an All Ireland senior match in Croke Park.
