Breffniman 1, It's a pity there aren't more like you. True supporters of our proud county.

You think people cannot be disheartened by a teams prospects yet proud of their county? I'm hearing alot of this muck at a national level as well - it disgusts me

Have to agree, i don't know how anybody would think this cavan team ''might just shade it''

We might shade it-this panel might shade it, not the team named 1-15, at least 3 players named in the first 15 are not up to senior county standard and the management will eventually see that it might just take them a while. It Hyland and want to be taken seriously and are serious about success they have to rid themselves of the kinds of mistakes made in team selection in the past, they have to put out the best 15 with no favouritism and favouritism is a rock Cavan has perished on previously. This panel of players has the talent to "Shade" it . The team named 1-15 hasn't a hope and that is regardless of what combination of those 15 we see as in people selected at half back moving to half forward etc, but there is a combination that could be put together out of that panel that if managed well on the day with effective and timely and correct substitutions could go the whole way on Sunday , that is the test of the management skills of Hyland and Forde , I believe they can do it!

Perhaps take out the dictionary and look up "disillusionment" lads.

Donegal are beatable, they're sluggish at moving the ball out of their own half, they go backwards and sideways a lot of the time. Cavan should press very high up the pitch and try and dispossess Donegal on their own 45. That'll take superior fitness, aggression and passion. Does this Cavan team have that?

There seems to be favouritism towards this years u21 panel and not much loyality to the 2010 and 2011 u21 panel. For example Murray made his championship debut 2011 against Donegal. Played super sub in this years league and can't make this years championship team or bench. Yet 4 u21s with no senior intercounty experience can make this years team and panel. So where is the teambuilding and loyality there? We moan about no experience. When young players start getting that we discard them in favour of players with absolutely no senior experience whatsoever. So when does the actual teambuilding begin Terry? 72 newcomers have being tried in the championship this past 10 years. 8 new last year. 5 new this year. How many of next years u21s wil start next year??? Because only 4 of 2010 u21s are involved Sunday. So in fact we really not doing anything different to the last 10 years. Chop and change. No consistency or plan.. Hyland should have some clue he's been there 4 years. It's sounds like he just got involved 4 weeks ago

Best of luck to Cavan on Sunday.I just cant believe some of the posts on this thread.Very negative. Why would any young lad want to be on the Cavan panel, with all the **** that is being posted about them.Cavan_slasher, i was at the ulster final and tought it was between Jack Brady and Killian Clarke for man of the match.I was listening to radio 1 the day after the Ulster final and Brian Carty singled out Jack Brady AS HIS MAN OF THE MATCH.Is there an agenda here ,Im a proud Cavan man living in Dublin.I think there will be even more of this years u21s starting on Sunday, and the team will be all the better for it.The lads that were there for the last 3-4 years are not good enough.Time to move on .Get behind your team, look at Donegal only won 1 ulster,a few years back and threw 10 of that team straight into the senior panel,Ulster Senior champs the following year. They nearly beat us (Dublin )after that.

richiej Niall Murray pulled of panel himself because i asked the same question .These lads that come onto the senior panel from the u21s this year were on last years u21 panel aswell, bar 1, Killian Clarke. They are brought in to streghten the panel, that is teambuilding.Agree with you that Terry was there for the last 4 years. But he is Manager now ,like it or lump it,and i think at last we are going in the right direction, the lads named on the team were also hugh players in winning ulster in 2011,and 1 has added a sigerson and o byrne cup since, keeping Micheal Murphy and David Kelly on the bench.

Posted something similar on the Donegal forum. Just wanted to see what the Cavan perspective might be:

The word is big Neil Gallagher will be fit to start so I reckon this is how we'll probably line out:

1. Durcan
2. McGrath
3. McGee
4. McGlynn
5. Thompson
6. Lacey
7. McLoone
8. Kavanagh
9. Gallagher
10. McElhinney
11. Bradley
12. McHugh
13. Walsh
14. McFadden
15. McBrearty

Expect Walsh to roam about. Our half forward line will be the winning of this game. By all accounts coming from Cavan their half-back line is weak (that is of course, if they all line out as per the team named.) The 3 lads in the HF line for us are super fit with Bradley and McElhinney offering good power. They should be well able to break the tackles and feed the 2 dangermen inside.

Didnt know Murray pulled out. i hope we can get a kinda settled panel for next years league and not have as many newcommers when it comes championship time. Anyway the performance on Sunday is far more important than the result. I really cant see where the scores are going to come from.

Cavan probably wont line out as per programme but if they did then Meehans role could become very important . On paper he seems destined to mark Mark McHugh. Who tends to roam all over the place. This could suit Meehan who likes to attack ,leaving McKeever to drop back to the half back line thus leaving Keating to drop on the forty. That leaves Jack Brady and Bud as a 2 man Full Forward line been supported by Meehan, Smith, and Maloney -derham breaking at pace. It also allows Fergal Flanagan to drop back if needed. Donegal full back can be very suspect if dragged outside his comfort zone.
Breaking at pace and winning the free is the way to beat the Donegal system. And being able to take a long range point.
I think it will line out as selected especially from the half back line up.

Not much loyalty to the 2010/2011 U21 panel? Feargal Flanagan, Jack Brady, Niall Smith, Kevin Meehan, Gearoid McKiernan all starting from the 2011 team. From the 2010 panel Gearoid, Givney, Maloney Derham, Brendan Fitzpatrick all start.

_________Now that sound like a plan....or maybe thats the way Terry planned it. Sometines Mckeever's best games have been mopping up around the middle of the field

I think he will be a great servant in time but it is too early for him in my opinion. No agenda at all !!
With regards to the U.21 Final -- as i saw it he got a lot of possession but did not use it well. He wouldn't be near man of the match in my book but that's only my opinion. I've seen him play a lot better when he was a minor.

Sean o Rinn .... That's going to be the biggest problem . Keeping lads that are in college at home for the summer. When you have such a young senior team will at lot of lads at college they need to work during the summer to finance their education.

Richiej - its not about loyalty to certain players, its about picking the best team to win the match and unlike you Terry Hyland is watching each training session so we have to assume he knows who is showing good form and who is not.
