I see the manager is (in fine tradition) getting his excuses in early. Its only natural for him to do this considering all thats happened but it seems like we get this e-v-e-r-y year before the Championship kicks off.

Here's your rib eye steak sir. Just to let you know; the chef decided to boil it for you. Makes it easier to chew sir ;)

For christ sake, just support the team and less of this rubbish. Anybody that expects Cavan to be an instant success doesn't know anything about football. They are a young team. Let them play their game and do the best that they can first, then if they make mistakes in the games that they play, let them learn from those mistakes and try to correct them. This rubbish of slating players and managers really is no help to anybody.

He is right to play down the teams chances, as they are huge underdogs going into the game. Saying that they'll beat all round them wouldn't exactly help either.

an instant success? We've been waiting since 97, listening to the same old excuses every year

Interesting team. I thought Fannin did enough to hold on. James had been prone to the odd gaff in recent years. Not sure about the half back line, looks weak enough, especially if McCutcheon isn't 100%. However, it's much more adventurous than anything Val produced during the league and they will all go out to perform at their best for the jersey. There's no such thing as a foregone conclusion in Championship football. We scored more against them last year than anyone else. If we tighten up the defence, then we have to have a chance.

I'd be more interested in the Minors though. Given our recent success at underage, we have made a great start to establishing a new Cavan football dynasty. If we are to continue the forward momentum, then we must successfully defend our Ulster Title. Any news of the Minor team?

Best of luck to both Cavan panels and Mgnt on Sunday.

People say that's a dummy team , better be , that defence is very suspect , very surprised at some of the omissions, mc clarey , hayes, mc dermott, cullivan , def more to contribute than what has been lined out , very very weak in half back line Donegal forwards will walk through them like a sieve .

Think Cavan's biggest opponents are some of the so-called GAA "pundits" on this forum. No matter what Terry & Co. do they'll be slated by the "talented armchair critics"!

Well said Breffni Blue. We need to get behind this young team. They are up against an experienced outfit and need all our support. Alot of our young lads have Ulster medals in their pockets and will be joined by more lads on the senior panel over the next 2-3 years that have the same. It a long time since that happened. Let get behind the team. What I want to see on Sunday is them playing with pride and passion and giving everything the have for the jersey. If we are beaten by a more experienced team so be it. They will learn from the experience and be a better team in the qualifers and next year. What I don't want to see a repeat of the performance against Longford in last years qualifiers where pride in the jersey and team morale appeared to have reach an all time low. Come on Cavan. The Ulster Championship 1st round has been the graveyard for many a reigning Ulster champions.
