Team to Topple Tir Connaill.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I think the title of this topic is a bit presumptuous! Yes, I do believe that Donegal are there for the taking this year, but I bet Murphy will be fit despite media reports. and with the square ball amemdment it will be vital we have a strong defence . Perhaps it should read the team that MIGHT topple Tir Chonaill !
Here's hoping the new management set up will be out and about today watching as many Div 1 league games as possible.

you named six players who are not presently on the current panel by the way young McEnroe has a long term injury that he is working on.

james reilly
keith fannin
dermot sheridan
oisin minagh
mark mckeever
eamonn reilly
john mccutcheon
david givney
gearoid mckiernan
ray cullivan
eugene keating
ronan flanagan - 7th defender
niall murray - half forward line

niall mcdermott

i don't think we can afford to start any more young players than that. would have rory dunne playing if fit.

Cant believe there is no mention of Packie Leddy. As ive mentioned here before i seen him out in boston last summer lording the skies and how he isnt being considered for a division 4 teams panel is beyond me. He would surely be worth his place around the middle

patchy - nearly a div 4 team (,") . yea packy is a talented young player ,the management is changing that much we see these players come in and out and no one has a clue whats going on ,we can name all the players we like it doesnt mean terry and co will pick them ,were just along for the spin really

blueman, id have dunne in the full back line, probably in place of fannin although corner back wouldnt really suit him. rekon he wud be our best option (with a sweeper in front of him) against murphy, if fit.

I agree with you that eoin mcguigan should be on the panel

1 James Reilly
2 Oisin Minagh
3 Killian Clarke - Sheridan may be a better option for Murphy
4 Jason McLoughlin
5 John McCuthoen
6 Eugene Keating
7 Mark McKeever
8 David Givney
9 Gearoid McKeirnan
10. Ray Cullivan
11. Gareth Smith
12. Barry Watters
13. Jack Brady/ Seanie
14. Kevin Tierney
15. Brendan Fitzpatrick

I feel we're strong in defence and midfield, still going back to the days of 97 or even the days of Seanie and Gerald Pearson we're lacking firepower in the forwards. Any suggestions?

Drafting in all these u21s is a mistake, all good players but not ready for senior inter county football yet, will be burned out disillusioned and ready to be discarded at age 25, not good.

McLoughlin is a great player but in my opinion too light for senior inter county. Killian Clarke bit young give him another year to develop. Don't care if Podge is captain or not.
1. James Reilly
2. Joshua Hayes
3. Mark Leddy
4. Oisin Minagh
5. Fergal Flanagan
6. Mark McKeever

I hear McCutcheon is back on the panel. I was no fan of Andrews but it seems Hyland stood back and let Andrews make mistakes . Bad form that.

Richie, you and I have agreed on a lot of things particularly, with regards to Andrews.
However, Andrews made it quite clear that he didn't believe that a co-manager approach was working, Hyland became a selector, the same as King, and I assume John Morrison, Andrews decisions are Andrews decisions, he might have taken on board suggestion/recommendations from his selectors or he might not, Perhaps Hyland, or King or Morrison were screaming to have McCutcheon on the panel and were ignored. perhaps not. but we don't know, so to accuse Hyland of standing back and letting Andrews make mistakes is ill-concidered.

Starting your crusade already, thought you would have waited until after the donegal game at least.

Ain't no crusade... The mans got 4 years on top of the 4 he has already had with the seniors.. Ppl forget that.. Looks like he stood by and let Andrews sink on his own .. Because I can't see what his input has been in the Senior setup under the last 2 managers. He waited his chance. Now he has it. Good luck to him. He's drafted in u21s so it's the Terry show from here in.

Richie questioning the integrity of Terry Hyland and making out that he didn't put in his best efforts in order to let Andrews hang is disgraceful. How can you have any idea what went on behind the close doors of the management meetings? Hyland could have been fully in McCutcheon's corner for all you know and been overruled by Andrews who has the final say.
