Suggest what we do to stop the slide to the bottom

Look I never said anything about how any Gaels lad played. Read the posts. Meehan was played wrong, he's an attacking half back or corner forward roaming. Maloney-Derham is not a half forward. Sean Reilly is good enough to be on the panel and Niall smith should have started ahead of fergal Flanagan . Martin Dunne on his national league form should have started last Sunday if he was fully fit. Read my post before you comment. What I said previously was it's my personal opinion that I wouldn't care if no Gaels lad commited to the county panel. That's just my opinion. If they want to play fine.. I'm not bothered either way ..

Richiej,
I have read your posts and you are spot on sometimes. Gaels players have now got a fair run with the Cavan senior team for many years.
It seems to me to be the Big Town syndrome where people who come from small rural areas have big attitude problems in Cavan.,
The Gaels players who belong to the best team in Cavan for many years have difficulty gealing into the Cavan setup where you play with junior footballers who just play at a low level of expertiese in League games.
So I say amalagated teams are the way to go

Anyone know if we are playing any challenge games to get the team gelling. We need a few games before the qualifiers to give the boys experience and get them used to playing together !!

we have a young team - give them time to settle. Under age results have been good for the past 3 yrs and time and a lot of patience are needed to allow management to develop a strategy and for these young players to mature and develop both mentally and physically. We'll be challenging for Ulster Senior honours in 2 - 3 yrs.. We've waited 15 yrs .. whats another few !!!!!

are you right in the head division 4 will be the order of the day. I hear forde insisted that they take off mckeever and bud last week if that is the case we are in big trouble coming from the side line and the players are way too young and are not ready for senior football, the old saying if you are good enough you are old enough not so in the present game

It's exhasuting being patient - I think I'll end up becoming one before Cavan start competing again.

( that's a play on the word 'patient' for all you Andy Caps who happily accept defeat each year in the hope that it will come good in the next 2-3 years - despite the fact that we dont have a solid platform to build on)

Unless you are a hurler Limerick's man of the match (the No 12) was 19 years old!

The difference is that he had experienced players all round him,not more 19/20 year olds making their championship debuts.

Drumvvig,

I say that that for Cavan football to progress we need to go down the Road of amalagated teams
Too many of our current Gaa people want to party and play.
Pick the best players out from say two junior teams in each area and let the party men party and players play.

The reason why Cavan football is as it is , is because of the people who have been coaching/training them over the last 30 years is and it will never change unless daddy played at the higher level you can never be a footballer because it's not in the blood. Or who daddy is??? That is the line of thought and until that is buried and you nurture all the young going forward no matter what or who they are Cavan will win nothing.

Do you see any terrace players on the county panel ??? Well need I say anymore????

Nonsense,el there has been progress and we have seen many ulster titles over the last two years at college level, vocational school, minor and u21. Your argument is cliched nonsense!

were cavan not very lucky in there last 3 ulster tiltle successes??? a good performance by g mckiernan last year, k. terny kept you in this year and last year goals from finegan kept you in. why did we fall so flat when we left ulster. i agree with sean, i dont see to many peter/larrys/jason/ mccabes coming through yet like when we won it in in 96

Well, whatever was suggested to 'stop the slide to the bottom' has failed. Check out Paddypower's All- Ireland odds. Cavan are 1000-1 rank outsiders, behind powerhouses like London!! How sad is that??

Paddy Power is being very stingy with that. I would want 10,000/1 to be honest !!
