Seanie Johnston...

Thank god for that! Good luck! Now people seriously need to get over it and particularly stop acting like SJ is some kind of a victim! If you still have a chip on your shoulder about this them I suggest you go take a look at the Donegal page! Not a single mention of Kevin Cassidy, a fella who was properly shafted by hid team who are All Ireland contenders! Didn't see him moving to Tyrone!!!!

I hope this is the final chapter in the reign of Val Andrews. It should have been Jaw Jaw and not War War from the start !!
Cavan_Slasher , 24/05/2012 at 11:39

Wise up will ye if you knew the full story you would have supported the players that did not want to play with him and the manager be it Val Andrews or Mr Hyland.
He is gone to another county what for I ask to play at a higher level why the hell did he not just pop over the border the journey would have been shorter.

He spat the dummy you know it I know it everyone knows it including every dog on the street.

There was never any doubt about his ability as a player but it was plain that Cavan Gaels did not want him because it was his way or no way.
You can stop pointing the finger at one man in Particular Val Andrews this was not a one man decision. Those of you that have contact with honest Cavan Gaels players and mentors ask them what they thought of Mr Johnston and why he was stripped of the captaincy also ask one of the selectors why he would rather play golf with him than train with Cavan Gaels and with the County team.
QUOTE He will win nothing with Kildare so a backward step in his quest to win a provincial title and an all Ireland medal.

I'd say that is about as accurate as the other stuff you posted regarding Val being a great manager and your predictions for last years Championship. Remember the one about the great training they were doing under Andrews and about their great mentality and being up for both the Donegal and later the Longford matches !! You have "blind loyalty" to who most of us knew was a poor manager !!

This will set a dangerous precedent in the GAA. The way he was supposedly tapped up by Kildare, whether it was by the management, or the county board is disgraceful. Any true GAA supporter would not applause this situation, from a county which is really starting to mess things up for the association, with their outrageous mountain of debt, and their player poaching.

thats that ,my views were not right in the head making no effort to get him back in after val scraped him ,but i hope val is knowing as the man that doesnt know a good player when he sees one, when hes getting the scores for kildare.why would val care anyway

Sean, as a man on the inside, you saw the whole episode unfold. Any chance you'd explain what the problem was with the Cavan Gaels players? You hinted that they did not seem to like Johnston's attitude? Also, why was he stripped of the captaincy?

Sergeant_Slash, you say it is a disgrace the way Johnson was supposedly tapped up by Kildare. Supposedly you have evidence to back up this claim? The player himself said in a radio interview that Kildare made no approach to him and his friendship with a Kildare selector and physio from his college days was a factor in choosing Kildare. Have a look at other counties debts and see is Kildares the only one in the news. Cavan could have tried a lot harder to keep the player if they really wanted him and from reading posts on the Seanie petition thread there was no sorrow at him leaving.

im telling ya ,top football pundits cant belive a poor footballing county would let a player of (high profile ) -the indo described him on the radio today, go. yous are deluded if you think cavan can say goodbye to players like that and not get bet in every match we play ,and its not only johnston the likes of macky ,dermot sheridan too ,so dont be codding yourselves lads ,look at it seriously have we done better or worse since these players got booted ,we were lucky to win a game in the league and we will get bet in the only two championship games we have because everyone wants to draw cavan , thats the honesty of it if you like it or not

I would say the Cavan gaels players will or should answer that question.
Maybe those that voted for chesty will give you an honest answer.
His gone we will get on without him win or loose.

Well fellow there was a happy camp I can tell you until sadly John Morrison took ill things changed after that. Moral was sky high facts.

You seem to forget 1999-2001 term he was the right man for the job but I question the commitment from a few around him.
Not blind loyalty I can tell you respect I would say is a better word.
Lets see how things progress now that you have got rid of Val and brought in what you wanted a local man. ??? I hope he does the business, for Cavan needs a huge pick me up.

As expected Seanie got the transfer on the basis of a contrived move to Kildare for the purposes of playing football only. Have to agree with version of events set out by SeanORinn-he is not the only source. Seanie has displayed huge determination to move 80 miles from his place of work and home town to prove he is 'lilywhite' as the caption says. Well he will never be a true one!

Dangerous precedent for GAA to have players moving solely to qualify to play for another county. It is a threat to what makes GAA so successful. After Cavan I have followed Kildare since I moved here. This saga leaves a bad taste and I cannot see myself feeling the same about the Kildare team (and I have great admiration for what they have achieved) when Seanie lines out.

Sean you say moral was high until Morrison left well that tells me that when Andrews was there on his own the hearts sank. Your evidence is supporting the opposite argument to the one you put forward. May I also ask you why the u21 players over the past 3 yrs speak so highly of hyland whilst you seem unable to give him any credit at all

lads its as far as we know as fans it wasnt a choice by team thats not their call also fans had nothing to do with it. so its unfair to suggest it is there is a lot of kildare fans that think its a sad day for kildare gaa.

the question seanie and management of all sides needs to answer is

who asked who to move or was this a complete seanie choice ???????

personally I dont know how I will feel when I see that man run out in the lilly white jersey and Im sure a lot of fans feel the same.I certainly hope that one of our own lads dont have to miss out on a place that they deserve through birth and passion for the county colours, for someone who has just drifted in.in ways maybe ye are the lucky ones in cavan we now have the problem god knows where it will lead too.
