Totally disagree with you richie. If the gaa let this transfer through it'd be a dangerous precedent. Seanie works monday to friday in Cavan, his life is in Cavan, and his only reason for not playing with Cavan is that he can't get his place with Cavan. Another thing entirely is that he's the most talented footballer in the county, but in my opinion he doesn't have the right attitude for the management to play with Cavan. How many times have you seen down the years players good enough to play intercounty not play, or less than they could have? Plenty is the correct answer, and Seanie is no different from anybody else, apart from the fact that he threw the toys out of the pram.

Lets look at the facts here for once and for all. There was no reason to drop Seanie in the first place in october. Although having a fairly quiet year last year he still was our most consistant forward scoring 1-26.
Regardless whether he works in Cavan or not surely he needs to be staying overnight in Kildare to put in the hours in training that a manager loke McGeeney would demand.....Agree?? He is a schoolteacher with long summer holidays so is free to stay fulltime in Kildare all summer. Finally , Kildare want him........Cavan dont. When he finaly does get his transfer and togs out for Kildare then ppl all over the country are finaly going to see the quality player that Seanie really is. They are also going to see the type of quality player that Val Andrews doesnt seem to need. Val Andrews is also going to see the type of quality player he said he wouldnt be using this year. Then ppl will decide for themselves if McGeeney was right to persevere with the transfer or was Andrews right to get rid. Time will tell

I hope he gets it now. I saw him playing at Sigerson level & how good he was when he had quality players around him. Would love to see him running out in Croke Park. I think he could really blossom, but it needs to go through soon, as he needs game time quickly

At the moment CAVAN don't seem to have a problem scoring, and the forwards work better as a unit. His talents as a score getter have never been questioned by me or most others. On the other hand, his lack of commitment at training and attitude in general are questionable.

He is a schoolteacher with long summer holidays so is free to stay fulltime in Kildare all summer. Finally , Kildare want him........Cavan dont. He is also free to knuckle down as many say and play his way back into the Cavan team with performances for his club CAVAN GAELS.
As for him doing great things with Kildare, it's quite possible, and maybe there he would knuckle down and not be a prima donna, but that's only what I think.

If Val Andrews and his backroom team think they have 6 better forwards than Seanie Johnston, then Cavan should be certs for the All Ireland! Is there 6 better free scoring forward in the Country??

If he is such a Prima Donna why would someone like McGeeney want him?? Andrews tore the script up after last year and decided to go with youth .....agree??.....Brave call.......Lyng was told he was too old at 27.... Anither brave call.
What happens then..........Andrews brings in McKeever whos probably nearly 30........he stars and is playing great....... Then he places Fanin in goals ..... nearly 29/30?? Whats happening with all this youth he was forward planning with when he now using two 29/30 year olds?? Its like i said before .......Andrews is making it up as he goes along

If Seanie wants to play football he should eat humble pie and get on with playing with the Gaels.if his attitude changes he will be brought back into Cavan in my opinion. If it doesn't then he is wasting his god given talent.

If he scored 10points a game for the Gaels he wouldnt be brought back into the County panel. Everybody knows that.

This is an incredibly ill-informed post. You have, obviously, no idea of why SJ was dropped.
Personally, his behaviour and actions, subsequently, justify Val Andrews's decision.
It's a pity Seanie didn't put as much effort into wanting to play for Cavan as he is for his, apparently, new home county,.

So how many times did Andrews drop or take Seanie off last year because of this behaviour or actions???? Or did Andrews just wake up one October Morning and decide to drop him? And then did McGeeny find out about this so called disruptive player in Cavan that was available and decide to want him???
We all know why Seanie was dropped BUT the manaher hadnt the guts to admit why

What Johnston does if he goes to Kildare is entirely irrelevant to Val Andrews and Cavan. We all know that whatever the reason Val chose to drop him, it wasn't lack of talent, so scoring for Kildare does not in any way prove Andrews wrong or rub his nose in it. Meanwhile Andrews and Cavan County Board can be proud that they have dealt with things in a classy manner.

Seanie got dropped because he is too individualistic. There is no "I" in the word team. What Andrews wants is team players who'll train and play and fight for one another, from here to kingdom come, age isn't a factor, commitment and physical fitness are. Mcgeeney thinks he can get the best out of Seanie, and good luck to him, but it's bad news for an amateur sport when you see players turning their backs on their communities.

1128262 Will you all be realistic here, seanie lives in cavan,he works in cavan,he shops in cavan, all his friends and family are in cavan..the DRA will through this out striaght away..
I can tell you that I meet Seanie mosts days on the road to Cavan around Kells on my way to Dublin so I would believe that he is living in Kildare and travelling to work each day and meeting the required time to push the transfer through.
