i actually thought it was a very good article, with indepth information backed up by facts. Fair play to the journalist for writing it & for all the background info he had.

Gaelsutd .. Co Board have to agree if Seanie has the paperwork and reading that link i think he has. Id love to see him stay with the Gaels. He needs to make his mind up as i believe deep down he doesnt want to change clubs

Is the original reason for Cavan Co not agreeing to the transfer not because, even tho the transfer form stated he lived in Kildare, they knew the fact was he lived in Cavan, so irregardless of what was on paper, they rejected it on their local knowledge and real fact.

The fact that he has a tenancy agreement or mobile phone bill to Kildare doesnt really change that. I have phone bills to addresses in 2 differenct counties. Ive my car registered in a different county. All those pieces of paper are very easily obtained.

But it wouldnt really change anything if the Co Board still see him every day of the week and have local knowledge that he is still living in Cavan.

So does anything really change?

Anybody can train with any team as long as they get permission from the host club.
Seanie could well be living in Kildare 4 days a week and spending the rest of his own free time in Cavan as he is entitled to do.
So, the guy has 2 houses, no law against that me thinks.
How many "country players" train with dublin clubs and play with their home clubs at the weekend and it is not seen as a breach of the rules.
He likes keeping fit and gets on with the lads at the gaels- well fair play to him.
The fact that he's training means nothing.

I think Andrews should hold his hands up and say he got it wrong. Seanie should also hold his hands up and say he really didn't want to move. Put the whole episode behind us for the sake of Cavan football. We ain't spooky for choice when it comes to forwards or backs for that matter. We need all on board. Anybody capable of making a contribution even for 10 mins a game should not be discarded especially if they have experience and can be an addition. Andrews is no Messiah but be are stuck with him so let's all sing from the same hymn sheet. We in a relegation dogfight again. It's not about who's right or wrong. It's about what's right for Cavan football.

Cavan GAA PRO Declan Woods has previously stated that Cavan would not attempt to deny Johnston his transfer should he be able to legitimately prove his residency in Straffan.

However, Woods subsequently outlined that the Breffni County's role in this particular case is finished and that the CCCC are now the ultimate decision makers.

"As far as we are concerned, we have no further role in the control of Sean Johnston's transfer," he told the Irish News.

"Contrary to reports, we never even had to sign the transfer. The transfer form came to the Cavan County Board signed by the player, the Kildare County Board and the St Kevin's club.

"A two-line note was attached which stated that, unless we had an objection, the transfer would go through automatically within 10 days.

"When we saw the transfer application, it was the first time it had been presented to us that the player wasn't living in Cavan. As far as we all knew, he worked in Cavan and he lived in Cavan.

From yesterdays Examiner
"As a result of that, we felt it would be wrong of us not to question that. We didn't look for proof, but we don't need to look for proof because we are not the governing body of inter-county transfers.

"We simply informed Croke Park that we had an issue in relation to his permanent residency in Kildare.

"We would contend that our role is now over. Our feeling is that it is now a matter for Croke Park. If Croke Park is satisfied, then we have no difficulty whatsoever. Because, if Croke Park is satisfied, then we feel it is under rule and everything is in order.

"We have no axe to grind. It's not up to us to counter-prove anything, if the governing body is satisfied then we have no issue."

All the jealous or badness in people about him going to kildare let him be. Sure if he stays the rest of cavan will have less chance of wining cavan championship with him in the Gaels team. At the Moment Cavan Gaels have the Squad of Man City.

So it seems according to the Anglo Celt, seanie's move to Kildare looks unlikely now.
Will Val re-call him ?
Also, Mickey Brennan has supposedly been taking part in goal-keeping drills at county training. Is there no natural goal keepers playing week in week out with their clubs in the county ?

...............................
Val will hardly recall someone he told he didn't want just cause they tried to get a transfer to another county and failed?
Didn't his transfer to St.Kevin's go through..will he look to get that reversed if he cant play for kildare? Maybe he wont, it was prob a real strain on him commuting up for gael's game!!

Wishfulthinking:
If Cavan lose on Saturday i'm sure there will be alot of calls to get seanie back in or else get Val out.
I don't know what way the transfer works, is it a case that the transfer to St Kevins & Kildare is all the one transfer or is it a seperate, club & county transfer ?
Surely he wont transfer just to play with St. Kevins & not Kildare over Cavan Gaels
