Seanie Johnston...

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

What annoys me is that some people write here about how lads don't work hard etc etc so thats why they got the boot, As if Dermot Sheridan, Martin Cahill, Eoin McGuigan, Alan Clarke, Micheal Lyng & Sean Johnston didn't work hard, all gone since March of last year!!!! Most of you probably know one if not two of these guys.

Maybe i am wrong, but i thought Alan Clarke was captain or close to it for the Mckenna cup last year. Got messed around in terms of his position on the team, was fed up with the attitude of players at training & how the management seemed to tolerate this, he then spoke out & was dropped.

what makes me wonder is ,why are county board so worried about rules now when a certain man who played for fermanagh ,lived in dublin and then played for cavan.funny that.?

hurler40 - you have a grudge against the county board - correct? So no matter what they did you would be saying it was wrong. Personally I didn't want Rory Gallagher playing with Cavan but I don't believe the current chairman or manager were involved then and probably not a lot of the county board either. Gallagher lived in Cavan and played with a club here too if I remember correctly. Do you think the rules should be broken just so Seanie can get his way?

LADS WERE SICK OF THIS IN KILDARE.

AS FAR AS I CAN SEE MOST DEDICATED KILDARE FANS DONT WANT HIM

we have young players coming through true kildare men that are too willing to try out for senior team they deserve the chance, they have the passion and committment for THEIR COUNTY. the place they were born and bred. I cant believe that a player with no connection to the county can give that sort of committment to a shirt that he never wore even as a child supporter,

so for god sake will someone somewhere put this to bed were fed up of it. surely this man has some pride in his own county of cavan to put back on the shirt and play for it.HE SURELY CANT DEVELOP PASSION OVER NIGHT FOR ANOTHER CLUB AND COUNTY????

Seanie will get his transfer , and more than likely his Celtic cross too. Why the hell would he want to play for Cavan after the way he was treated. He carried them for long enough. Least he going where he now wanted and he won't have to listen to the begrudgery like goes on in Cavan . Fair play to him for having the guts to go.

you are right Tony.montana. and personally I would like to see Alan back on the team... more so than Seanie... He is exactly the type of committed player that Val supposedly cherishes. it beats me why all the fuss is about Johnstone. Bring back Alan Clarke.

I flicked through the Celt paper last night & it struck me that there was hardly a mention of the whole Seanie Johnstone debacle or the fact that the county board refused to sign his transfer request at Monday nights meeting.
I wondered why this was.
Has the county board issued a warning to reporters not to report anymore on the transfer saga or why the request was not signed the other night.
Seems a bit of a coincidence that this whole issue commenced due to poor or no communication by various parties.
I noticed also that an article in which Val Andrews spoke to a school regarding cyber bullying & the use of internet websites etc by anonymous users did make the celt.

Flick again Tony. Banner story on the front page!

as usual we have the usual defence of the rules.no grudge against county board.if a player who is not deemed good enough for cavan or fermanagh and wants to carry on his inter county career.whats wrong about transfering.rules are there only when suited.this crap about county board not being there in 2007 rings a familier tune.ie [govt imf].problem is county board are here now and should be proactive in sorting this mess out.kildare have always had imports .even 3 of 98 team were b murphy b lacey k o dwyer .garvin ware and tomas walsh went to kildare and wicklow and back againn to carlow to keep playing.now sean and fredflint what would happen if roles were reversed and gaa implemented the same set of rules for managers?.how many intercounty managers are from their own county or working living in county they are training in.?food for thought folks?maybe theres the solution for paying managers?

More than likely?? When did Kildare last beat a top tier team in the Championship?? I would say his chances of getting a Celtic Cross are very very small.

Why would he want to play for Cavan? He SHOULD want to play for Cavan (and only Cavan) because he was born and reared in Cavan, learned the game in Cavan and playing for the club and county you were born into is what the GAA is about. That's why.

He carried us? He played brilliantly in some games but to say he "carried us" does a massive disservice to his teammates over the years. His contribution may have been more on the scoreboard but that does not make him any more important than any other player or deserving of treatment in excess of those players.

I see once gain the hurler on the ditch picks my name out.
You should know all about bringing in what most call as imports you did it for years in your respective game and brought it to its knees.
I am not the county board I did not make the decision but I can tell you this I applaud them for doing the job right if Croke Park wish to over rule their decision once again its their prerogative.
I don't care if he goes and play's for Kildare or not thats his choice but what I do care about no mater how good you are you don't have a divine right to walk onto the first 15 this causes resentment from those who have worked their b@@@@s off to try and get a place on the starting 15.
You know what its like when your imports came in on a Saturday to play and disappear after the match and also let me add you were very active in bringing in outside management to look after you people. Must be hurting you to see one you got rid of now back at the helm. Wise up fellow.

It is high time this discussion was put to bed. something went wrong somewhere communication wise for this player. His talent is beyond question. So is his commitment. As with all players this lad has a life outside of , beyond football. Would it ever occur to the people commenting on him some very harshly, that perhaps he may just have come through two very stressful years and as such may just have had other things on his mind than football.

Forgive me for speaking out of turn but i think maybe its time this whole saga was laid to rest. If the man wants to move then let him move. Its obvious his heart is not in it for Cavan anymore and i think it would be far wiser throwing the full support behind a Cavan team from the couple of games i've seen this year who look more confident and relaxed in their football.
Maybe i'm wrong but Cavan football is looking a lot better
