Good call - this type of thing needs to be stopped. The rules are very clear on this issue.

Seanie really does seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place here. I honestly think that if his transfer doesn't go through he'll have to choose between giving up football altogether for a year or simply playing for the gaels. I find it a pity because it'll be the same old story of the best player in the county not playing for the county team, and that has happened quite a bit down the years.
GAA's loss may be golf's gain.
What is certain is that a quick outcome is needed to put this affair to bed once and for all.

If he goes to the DRA he will probably get his transfer but it will mean moving and proving he has moved. Thats difficult to do when he working in Cavan.

Think he would be better concentrating on the Gaels this year just like Lyng. I think deep down he really dont want to leave the Gaels.

He has been badly advised somewhere along the line

Cavan county board are completely right. He's from Cavan, lives in Cavan and works in Cavan. There is no reason why this transfer should go through.

Seanie Johnston--What is the problem?

Now that a line has been drawn don't you think now that its time for Seannie to ask for a meeting with the County Management and inform them he is willing to put in the same amount of effort as everyone else to get his place.
There is no doubting his football ability in fact he is at this moment in time probably one of the best forwards we have.
Humility dedication commitment team player all for one one for all I am sure the County management will once again state the door is not shut to anyone including Seannie.
My own views are he was badly advised and he should brush it under the carpet and make himself available to the county and once they know his willing once again to commit to the blue and white they will keep the door open.
I hope Cavan Gaels will start the ball rolling and take him back for starters.
Not one person in Cavan will even think about this episode in a few weeks time and will be more than happy to welcome him back to the fold.

Come on common sense needs to prevail here lets get the people that matter communicating with each other one on one.
Even with my degree in communications I know that people can be brought down from their high horse and get down to a respectable level to talk with each other. Its amazing what can be achieved go for it.

SEAN O RINN..there wasnt much communicating done before last night. You would need to find out who refused to talk, meet , before you write nonsense Sean.
Seanie made himself available. have you forgot ?? HE WAS TOLD HE WASNT WANTED THIS YEAR.
I would never expect him to nor hope he would play for the present manage again.
He will get his transfer on appeal to the DRA if he is determined enough to see it through.

I honestly don't see any reason why it cannot happen, everyone in the county would welcome a full stop placed on this. Val Andrews is an educated person and I am sure if two level headed people sit across from each other a conclusion can be had even with a third party. Lets hope common sense prevails. I for one hope so anyway for its time it was put to bed and move on to get promotion from division 3

One question Sean o Rinn? Why did they not sit down before now? And which of the 2 refused to sit down and sort it? Can you honestly answer who refused to sit down before now? Or are honest answers only when it suits u?????

I really don't know why you should confront me. I am not the reason all this has happened but I have stated in my last three posts what I feel should happen and if this cannot be done well thats it but really I am sure that both parties can chat about this and stop being childish for thats all it is.
If I was told I was not good enough at the moment I would work harder to prove them wrong so come on put all this negative attitude to bed and think of the future of our county team. I hope now he goes back to Cavan Gaels and starts playing the type of football we know he is capable off.

why not let Seanie go to Kildare if he wants to!! sure you's dropped him in the first place and not won't sign him over!! If he wants to play inter-county let him, he's just going to keep trying anyway

seannie j has given years of service to cavan football,a hell of a lot more than val has (in his two stints) as a former cavan player myself I urge seannie to go and play for a county that actually recognise what he can give to a team and that is what kildare are doing. He is not wanted by Cavan which is a shame so I hope he goes ahead and appeals his case and not only wins the case but brings sam back to kildare and then up to cavan so i can see it!!!!

ladavoir87 - I can see why your an EX county footballer with an attitude like that. Maybe you should also go to Kildare too and bring back Sam to them. When Cavan win Ulster in a couple of years we'll send you a post card.

he may be retired from football, a very legitimate reason to be an EX county players.

in relation to johnston, i feel the county board are nip picking. he has given an address in kildare so just let him go, ridiculous decision and just petty

They are not nit picking, they are following the rules. The rule is posted on this forum, have a read - it wasn't written for the craic. He is not a resident of Straffan and everyone knows that. Maybe the rule book should just be torn up, who cares sure as long as Seanie gets what he wants - thats all that matters.
