1099448 CAVAN GAELS HAVE JUST CONFIRMED ON THEIR OFFICIAL TWITTER SITE THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY TRANSFER REQUESTS FROM ANY PLAYER WITHIN THE CLUB, OR HAVE THEY SIGNED ANY TRANSFER FORMS.
Just seen that now, but does this mean Kieran McGeeney is lying about it, or his he trying to pressure Johnston into moving, i mean the lad has had a lot over the last few days away from football.
The media are just making an mess of it; and also the local radio station in Cavan this morrrow, the presenter who is an not even an Cavan man and not even a big fan of the GAA, making false statements.
This matter is not been handed wrongly by the club or county. But by newspapers and the media.
It's time to move on from this, do i want Johnston to leave Cavan Geals, no i don't, but only he can decide not his club nor McGeeney nor us here. How did Kildare come out in this, did McGeeney tap him, an member of the Kildare board, does Johnston have close friends down in Kildare. Did Kildare board say to him they will pay his expenses, house rental. If they did, this is bigger than money to mangers, but thats another debate.
I seen Kildare GAA, have retweeted the tweet from Cavan Geals; https://twitter.com/#!/KildareGAA; does this tell us anything. Is McGeeney going against officials of the Kildare GAA Board?
Just some of the ways i see it.
I agree with Killygarrylad above, it's time to move on.

ondforty County: Cavan Posts: 148 1099403 I don't see this as a sad day. He clearly wants to move on and that's what we should do too. Opportunity now knocks for some young committed up-and-coming Cavan lad. Good luck to Seannie in Kildare and good luck to Kildare in managing him.
wishfulthinkin County: Cavan Posts: 687 9431 saddened by it? why would we be saddened by someone who doesn't care bout his club or county leaving?

Objectively speaking and as a Cavan supporter I can safely say that this is a negative event and one which is likely to be harmful to Cavan football in the medium-long term. People seem more than happy to slam the door on this player's back after all he has given - that's a sad fact. This stoic notion of having 'rid the county panel of a troublemaker' is hate filled BS and reinforces the stereotype about narrow minded GAA supporters - that's sad. Families, club mates and friends will be hurt and some divided by this saga - that's also a sad notion. And as a county we find ourselves back in the headlines and for all the wrong reasons. So yes, this gives me personally plenty to be sad about.

whats his problem, plenty of lads have been dropped from every county team in the country and go back to the club and work on why they were dropped.

on a plus side.. this fiasco doesnt seem to be bothering the cavan panel, the mood seems quite good so thats a good thing!! as someone said above, what will happen if this goes belly up for seanie?? will he be welcomed back to cavan gaels as if nothing happened??

Hopefully the rest of the Cavan panel up their game to fill seanies shoes.if he wanted to go it is better to let him off.Like a bad marriage there is no point in prolonging the agony.

Bring the affair to an end
If Seanie looks for a transfer then in my opinion he should be given one. If he moves to Kildare and joins St. Kevin's then so be it. He has given Cavan Gaels and and the county team great service over the years not withstanding that last year was not one of his best years on the field of play.
Maybe it will help him get back to his former level. There is always the possiblility down the line that he migh return home, just like Thomas Walsh did in Carlow.
All the best to Sean and to the Cavan senior team in 2012
Talk more in March when a couple of rounds in the league have been played.

Actually it's a mean spirited and spiteful assessment from Lifeboy
Good luck to Seanie I hope he earns his potential all-star with us in any case
Good luck to Val and our team

There is not a hate wrong with it ochonlir... I called it as i saw it... as i said, when mackey was dropped he didnt look to switch counties... if johnston was a true cavan man, he would put up with the management decision....

Why don't people just give him a break. He's an amateur player playing an amateur sport. It's clear from reading posts here that ppl think he is disruptive. I clearly think he's a fine skillfull footballer. Managers are suppose to manage all types. If they are able. If he wins a Lenister or all Ireland good luck to him. He has been shown no loyalty. Good luck to him whatever he does. Leave the lad alone. He hasn't refused to play. Remember he was dropped for the year.

It is not a matter of being dropped lifebuoy. It is the manner and the reason for it that matters !! If a player is out of form then the manager has a right to drop him BUT if a player questions the reasons for playing in a certain way, i.e. tactics and especially when he is the captain, then the manager has the problem and not the player. Why shouldn't the captain question the tactics with the manager. It's a good thing to do and is part of his job as captain in my opinion !! he would be a poor captain if he disagreed with a manager's decision and was afraid to question it !!

Kildare wont be in the qualifiers this year, We are going all the way with or without Seanie Johnston.
Personally I dont see this transfer happening, but maybe someone from your county board should stand up and take control of this situation and get Seanie back playing for his county. As far as I can see there is to many ego's clashing

Did he ??? A captain leads by example TRUE I can tell you right now what we have here at this moment of time is a very happy and contented bunch of players and they seem to be very happy from what I can see. Two weeks to the national league kicking off against Wexford well then you can all judge.

lilywhite2 I am one of those that backed Kildare to win the All Ireland last year for they have a great bunch of players and have had for years. I had the greatest of respect for late Dermot Early and I would love to see his son pick up that elusive medal. If Seannie helps him achieve this good for both. I wish you well.

Why do you post things at all if you are not going to explain what they mean or elaborate on the topic ? It's driving me mad, all this secrecy and nudge and wink posting thing !!

you know as well as everyone that is fighting corners what was wrong. I have on intentions of posting here my views as to why all this went on but ask your club players who have played for Cavan over the last 14 years what has happened. Remember Charlie Clarke Pierce McKenna Barry from Ballyhaise his name I forget Young Prior at the moment the list goes on and on and you will get your answers. Its all down to all for one one for all and that is it.
