Sean hasn't been mentioned because it's not true. The Kildare Co Board know nothing about it. Seanie been in Australia over Xmas and new year. He doesn't want to leave the Gaels so it's impossible to transfer without changing club. Anyway all this speculation could have easly been avoided if Seanie was treated the same as other players that had a bad year last year. They still in the panel. Also Seanie hasn't been replaced by anyone better not what I saw this past 2 games . To back down sheva7 , 16/01/2012 at 10:36 Read the report big effort get it across nice picture as well sending out a huge message to you all. Have to read the report I am sure you have and now you are trying to change it around. Seannie I say again is a top class player BUT ??? John Wrenne

if you have a touch screen mobile and you know my number I will send you a full picture of the report if you are happy to do that. I was very surprised and disappointed to read that one of our very best wanted to leave the Breffni County. Surprised Cavan Gales supporters on here did not mention it . I wonder why. ?? if he is as you claim one of our very best, why is he surplus to requirement?

I don't know the reason, we assume it must not be based on ability, as to drop him by saying he is not good enought would simply be untrue. No one knows, the real reasons, because it is all hush hush, but isn't that the bigger issue.
McGuinness, dropped players, including an all-star, for breach of team rules. He did so in public, and despite the up-roar at the time, that storm blew over. not so here in Cavan with regards to Johnston...whispered conversations, public denials, private acknowledgements, smoke and mirrors, and the issue still rages on.

Not wanting to fuel this any further. Its obvious that there is a lot of frustration over the apparent lack of information regarding the whole Sean Johnston scenario. It sounds like some posters here who i assume are from Sean's club are aggrieved. I was told yesterday that Cavan Gaels stripped the captaincy of him last year as well as dropping him for the start of the championship. If this is accurate information i think the criticism of the Cavan manager who at least left him with the captaincy for the entire season is a little harsh.

The summary of the Star article is bascially, its seems that Seanie wants to transfer to Kildare without having to move to the county or play with a Kildare club.Last Saturdays article in the Star states that Seanie had a hearing rejected by Croke Park pre Christmas and he subsequently appealed on a technicality that county transfers were not fully covered in the GAA rulebook. He lost his appeal last Wednesday night and could now take his case to the DRA,which could be costly if he lost.Croke Park would strongly contest this case as it would open the floodgates for inter county transfers.Kildare county board have denied any knowledge of this and the Cavan board or the Gaels have not being offically contacted by Johnston on the matter.

Well that looks like he won't be playing for the present management again. And fair play to him. If they don't want him he entitled to do as he pleases.

Strange coming from a Gaels man bury your head in sand fellow. There is no questions about this persons ability but what a shame this should come about.

all over the papers today. In fairness to the lad, think he should still be involved but seen as he isnt and he still wants to play at that level, hopefully he gets his transfer (though hope he has to leave the Gaels to get it!!)

According to on national radio sports bulletin thismorning it claims that Seanie wants to transfer to Straffan where they say he is now living? Is this true? Does he not work in Cavan?

Here is the full report less the picture
Cavan Star Seanie Johnston's proposed transfer to Kildare has suffered a major blow after he lost an appeal at Croke Park on Wednesday Night. The Irish Daily Star has learned that a hearing was also rejected pre-Christmas-but that Johnston appealed on a technicality. Johnaton could now take his case to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) but could face a major financial hit of up to €10,000 if he looses. The brilliant forward was axed from the Cavan squad by boss Val Andrews but he is determined to rekindle his county career elsewhere with Kildare his favoured destination. APPEAL A GAA source has revealed that Johnston's appeal was based on a technicality that county transfer's were not fully covered in the GAA rulebook. The player argued that he wanted to declare for Kildare and not transfer to the county, but the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) threw his case out. It is understood that Johnston's move to Kildare would contravene the GAA Rulebook on transfers and that the floodgates for disgruntled county players. If he opts to go to the DRA a deposit of €1,000 is required and the loser has to pay their own legal fees and that of the other party. Which are often in excess of €10,000. Croke Park would contest any DRA hearing vigorously as it would be a test case and it is unlikely to be successful. Superb The Kildare County Board have denied any knowledge of a Johnston transfer to date and it is understood they have played no role in any such move. Johnston is a superb talent, who would add to Kildare's firepower up front, but he was off-colour when playing last year. Johnston who was Andrews captain last year was unavailable for comment last night.

SEAN O RINN lets call a spade a spade here for the moment. Seanie wants to play football. AGREE? The Cavan management have told him he is surplus to their requirements this year. AGREE? So what is the problem if he looks to play football somewhere else?? He has been shown no loyality by the Co Board so should he return loyality?
Problem in Cavan is everything is swept under the Carpet and allowed to fester for years, thats why there is such bad feeling amongst clubs over certain issues down through the years.

Is it ten years he has been around the county scene tell me this is not him been shown loyalty by the Cavan regime.
Come on you work harder to get your place back on the panel not run away, He would gain a lot more support from the likes of me and many others if he put his intentions to the fore. Val Andrews never locked the door to anyone and this happens come on fellow lets call it as it is, No player has a divine right of his place on any team and Val Andrews has sent that message out loud and clear and well done him. Players that are not around at the moment I don't see them running.
As you are a Gales person it was common knowledge that things were not happy but the powers that be had not the b££££s to stand up and be counted. Time to be firm at all levels and maybe issues like this will not arise in the future.
AGREE? So what is the problem if he looks to play football somewhere else?? He has been shown no loyality by the Co Board so should he return loyality? In reply its all down to loyalty to the county the jersey and the passion to play to your best for that county and jersey. You either are a true Cavan player or you are not its either one or the other>>/??? The vibes I take from this are not good and there are many more like me think the same. ??

I thought our management was supposed to be uniting the county not dividing it !! What is happening lads, we are the talk of the country with good players leaving or being dropped ? I thought this was happening just so we could try out new lads in the McKenna Cup !!

sean johnston is the best forward cavan have and one of the best in country.why is it that cavan press the self destruct button againn?management should know better dealing with players.you build a team around your best players and every effort should be taken by those in a position to do so.enough is enough and this must not be allowed to fester.most of top intercounty players are hard to handle but that is where man management comes in.
