show me where I named names please. I dropped no one remember that By the way when did Seannie play in a McKenna cup match over the last 10 years so whats the story he never and if he did very he rarely played in this competition.

Please fellas show me the post or posts where I named any players that should be dropped other than a question that was put direct to me about would I drop Seannie and I replied on his current form at the time YES.

I also note that Val Andrews has stated he has locked no door to any players coming back true.
I was not at the match last Sunday for the facilities were booked out for the day so other commitments but I will be there Sunday god willing.

Sean o Rinn of course you support Val Andrews in everything he does and says but if you were in Celtic park last Sunday ud have seen where leaving Jonstone out has been a TOTAL mistake. Inadequate forwards taking the wrong option from play , kicking wide after wide from play and frees. If leaving Seanie Johnstone out was the answer to our problems well Val has got it wrong again. I don't care how commited this bunch are or what time they get ip in morning to train. If you can't put a simple ball over the bar from 20-30 metres you have no business being ther no matter how fit you think you might be. Now Val would need to come down of his high horse and get Johnstone back in the panel as he is one of the few that is consistently able to kick the ball over the bar with either foot. Last year Andrews made him Captain. This year he drops him. Now Seanie hasn't become a bad footballer over night. His recent scoring stats won't be matched by any1 I saw last Sunday. So Val don't let your ego get in the way of all good players playing for Cavan. Not just the roadrunners!

I will ask one question??
Who went to the centre line for the toss up in the match between Cavan and Longford ???please be honest with your reply and please ask yourself why it happened.

If I was a yes man I would be agreeing with everything you all say.

Dressingroom moral has a huge effect on performances

sorry seanorinn, my post was actually aimed at sheva7, sorry for the confusion. But as I was saying earlier, I think its time we planned for the future without johnston, lyng and mackey. Things werent working with them so therefore it has to be changed. I know people will disagree with me but I just think their individuals and wont help us in the long run, and sheva7 the three players i mentioned scored nothing from play (lyng and mackey didnt even score) in the championship last year and the majority of cavans scores came from niall mcdermott and eugene keating.

Sean o Rinn if your going to poat well at least post the facts. Seanie played adainst Derry in McKenna Cup last year scoring a point and against Tyrone in the Semi scoring 7 points. So Sean get your facts right

johnson defo... but lyng and mackey. I think they have had their day. In my opinion, Lyng has never been the same since he came back (was delighted to see him playing again). Maybe i stand corrected but i can't remember either of these having a great game in the last few years.

I'd be surprised if Seanies finished this year, but it's the McKenna cup a time for having a look at players. Shev you are going round in circles

Ochonlir,

In this instance I agree with you. The Mc Kenna Cup is a competition for trying out young lads. But for this year's League we need a settled team to try and get out of Div 3. I will judge them on that !!
Use the Mc Kenna Cup for trying things out !!

Lyng being unlucky with injury but a class act. Most counties have no problems with a quarter back type player. As for Mackey I can remember him being our top scorer one year scoring 5,6,7 and in some cases 8points a game.

I hope our seasoned campaigners are not discarded completely as we will need them for some very tough League games ahead. We could not and should not introduce so many young inexperienced lads to tough football in large numbers. That's why we need our experienced players, to help blood them in gradually.

Again broad agreement, but it could be better to go for the big bang approach, we have been introducing players bit by bit up to now and we find ourselves in div 3

Some of the older guys will come back I expect the Oz returning Seanie to fight for his place, I want him to fight he needs to and will in my view.

OCHONLIR what has Seanie Johnstone got to prove to anyone??? He has been Cavans top scorer for the past number of years and even last year when he wasnt playing that well he still managed 1/4 of the teams total score. Scoring 0-7 and 0-9 in matches. He certainly has nothing to prove to anyone in Cavan . Its seems to me its the Manager that has things to prove.
There are players on the team and panel who cant get regular football on their club team.
There are players on the team and panel who couldnt get on last years under 21 team. 15 wides last Sunday from inexperienced forwards??
YET Seanie is cast aside??

everyone should have to prove themselves, regardless off who they are..being on the panel shouldn't be a right.

Discipline discipline discipline.

Team player, do what management tell you play the position designated no point playing in the midfield or halfback line when you are designated a more forward position.
If midfield have the ball who do they give it to if the forward and half forward players are in the half back line.
Its not about being able to take frees and get scores its also about team involvement comradeship moral working as hard as the 34th man to get your place,
There are so many reasons one could write a book.

Blah Blah Blah.........Sadly its a results based game nowadays. What happens in thr final third of the pitch determines everything.
It IS about scores, frees. The days of putting up good shows are long gone. WE in Cavan have just got rid of 4 scoring forwards who can score from play and frees. Now that to me has to be classed as a minus because these 4 players could score and had experience. Now maybe there wasnt 70 mins in them but their contribution as impact subs with their experience SHOULD AND COULD have been used.
How are inexperienced players going to learn if 4 experienced players are dropped to prove a point. And ive never seen anything wrong with the attitude of any of the 4 in question.
SEAN......The bottom line is we need forwards who can score from 20 metres under pressure and from frees. We need experience, mixed with a blend of youth and inexperience.. Show me the experience in tomorrows forwardline when you know it.
