I know it's mid November, so how can you be sure that we will gain promotion. If you don't know or Val doesn't know who the starting 15 will be. He should have an idea, should have the spine of his team worked out in his head & then add to this.
Players will get injured / will fai to give full commitment / will go abroad etc, so it baffles me how you can say we will get promotion at this stage.
I have no idea who ( nor has anybody else it seems ) is in or was in training with the senior team lately, but whether due to injuries or commitment or whatever the reason, i feel players like
dane o dowd, tommie wakely, dermot sheridan, eamon reilly, toasty clarke, enda king, trevor crowe, johnston, lyng, mark mckeever etc need to be in training with them now. These guys have strength, a presence & some experience about them, something we seriously lack each year.
Some players like martin dunne, barry reilly, jack brady, niall smith & murray are promising but need to bulk up a little.
I just can't see us doing a whole pile this year to be honest, there is an awful lot of uncertainty regarding the panel + how the manager was ratified on his own etc. There is never anything straight forward when it comes to the county set up.

Well Enda King is in Australia so for now not available you have named a few players who are jot available and some that are dropped for now but I am sure will be back stronger than ever. Injury has robbed us of one or two also but as far as I see it up to before I got sick we are heading in the right direction when training starts again one will have a far better idea as to where we are going but I am sticking to we will be in Division 2 for 2013 remember this is just my opinion off course

Sean o Rinn... Show me the post where I said Hyland was the greatest thing since sliced pan. I might have said he was the most successful manager of the 2 joint managers. Big difference. If I'd a choice Hyland nor Andrews nor king would be there. That's a job for someone who can comand respect , someone who can get ALL players playing regardless of age. And that someone is not any of those 3 in my opinion.

Sean o Rinn Enda king wasn't in Australia last year and couldn't get on the panel .

He made it clear he was not available due to starting up his new job I would have thought you being a gaels person would have known this.

Sean u are a dose. Enda King told Val that he couldn't commit to the training schedule till the start of 2011 but Val said that wasn't good enough.

Must be disappointing I can answer the questions he was not available so that was that don't you think.

Sean o Rinn I know why senior Gaels players haven't commited these past few years. And the way Johnstone and lyng have been treated I'm beginning to agree with them. I'd love to see NO Gaels players playing on the County team for inadequate management. As you will see most of the 5/6 younger ones are starting to see sense now about the way things are being run.

What do you mean the way they have been treated? They were told they would not be asked into the panel for 2011 before training started. How is that poor treatment? They are not above being dropped. Nobody is. Are the lads dropped after the McKenna Cup treated badly when they are not named on the League Panel?

What about how Lyng treated the panel a few years ago. Played a few League games, obviously didn't want to be there and just dropped out. You're the one who talks about respect being a two way thing. Lyng can walk in and out as he pleases but dare to drop him and suddenly Andrews is the bad guy..

As everybody knows Lyng has had his fair share of injuries over the past few years.. FACT

Lyng was Cavan Gaels best player in the last 4 games of the Championship mainly due to being injury free. FACT

If Andrews was at as many Senior championship games as Sean O rinn claims he was at then Lyng on his club performances this year would be on the County panel..FACT

Johnston has been Cavans top scorer since 2004 and cant get his place on a county panel that clubmates of his can get on ,even though they cant get on their club team..FACT

McClarey has the makings of a good player but how can Andrews include him after watching him play 5 minutes for the u21s in may and 5 minutes for the gaels in summer..FACT

Smith, Mackey, Johnstone Lyng all played and scored in a Senior County final this year and they cant make a County panel that includes players who couldnt even make the under21 Team last year..FACT.

IF YOU WANT TO DROP PLAYERS THATS YOUR BUSINESS BUT YOU NEED TO REPLACE THEM WITH PLAYERS THAT ARE EQUALLY AS GOOD OR BETTER .
WE ARE NOT BLESSED WITH TOO MANY GREAT PLAYERS SO THE LITTLE BIT OF TALENT WE HAVE WE NEED TO KEEP TO FIND THE RIGHT BLEND OF EXPERIENCE AND INEXPERIENCE.

That's 12 points now will that get us promotion.
Val Andrews will do the busines once he has sorted his panel of players.
That will do for starters anything after that will be a bonus for 2011
Slain go Foill

SEAN O RINN ................YOU POSTED THE ABOVE BEFORE LAST YEARS LEAGUE. IT PROVES YOUR UNDYING LOYALITY TO THE CURRENT MANAGEMENT AND ITS ALSO THE EXACT SAME RUBBISH THAT YOU ARE SPOUTING BEFORE THIS YEARS LEAGUE!.....................

Yes I make no apology for that post and it has nothing to do with loyalty to the management it was loyalty to the players that I was shown my respect towards yes true loyalty to the players but who could have envisaged so many bad performances by individuals collectively at the same time. I don't intend to start naming players but if you follow the seniors as I did you would also agree that there were too many off day's its that simple. You would not have been aware of however of all the injuries there were with the panel all of this had an effect on how things panned out last season.
We Cavan will be better prepared this coming season and results will prove this going forward.
I will not start shouting at you as you are towards me but what I will say is I will enjoy it when you and yours eat humble pie come next April.

Sean o rinn would you agree that if we get relegated or just finish mid table(like last year) that it would be time for the management to move on? or do you think Andrews and co should be there until 2016/17 to implement the CB plan??

In other words how long do we give this present management to show some sort of improvement???..Is another year the same as last year acceptable for our Senior team??

First of all thank you for removing the capitols.
I was not aware that the management are in place until 2017 where did you hear this.
No matter what I say regarding who should and should not be at the helm it will never come down to me it is at County Board level all these decisions are made.

eduardo66,
I would say the majority is heresay, with a big dose of people knowing one or two for sure (club-mates, friends and family). not having an announced panel is part of the issue for many. Player have been invited in, two games have been played, players have beeen dropped, yet for some reason the panel has had to be kept quiet.

Call me an optimist better than all the flipping negativity that is been printed on here.

I prefer to think of myself as a realist.
While I wish for a victory in every game, and hope for a strong run in the championship, and I would love a cinderella season with promotion, a division 3 league title and a dark horse performance to win Ulster, I have to temper my predictions with facts that suggest that we will struggle in Division 3 (I think we will finish 4th) and that we will not have progressed enough to offer a strong challenge to Donegal (who themselves will have played a full season of Division 1 football). Depending on who we then get in the qualifiers, we could have another season were we play one championship and one back door game and are done.
