Castlerathan 3-16 Gowna 0-6. Gowna were shocking, relegation beckons!

They made Castlerahan look good who are a very poor senior team right now. All te talk over the last three or four years about them and they are just not good enough. Looks like Cavan Gaels once again for the senior title. It was a bad match but they won it and they will now win the title again but thats as far as they will go.

a lot of teams would struggle to get out of junior championship without a doubt !

After another weekend of action, the team that is the most hard done by is Lavey. They were better than Kingscourt, but just couldn't get the scores. Kicked a lot of wides and maybe should have got a penalty. They are a very spirited side, and deserved to go through.
Denn were vastly superior to Drumalee, no contest.
Ramor need drastic change. There's something seriously wrong in that camp;they are U-21 champions for the past 3 years, and have the players, but not using them effectively. They are a selfish outfit- Cole and Brady were starved inside. Discipline is a big issue I believe.
Gowna also need to go back to the drawing board. Pity they lost the plot getting discipline wise too.

Sean Castlerahan a poor senior team? Is the standard not poor in general. Their wing half back scored 5points. How does he look? Anyone you pick out in other games

I fancy Ballinagh for the championship. They are a good side & will beat the gaels again.
What way is the belturbet / redhills / castlerahan & gowna group now.

Ballinagh
Belturbet
Mullahorn

Killygary

Will be joined by the
winners of Castlerahan v Redhills
winners of Cuchullains v Denn...

Fairly open this year i believe.

Yeah open it is, but any hidden gems knocking around? Enda O Connell has to be one. Colin Kiernan too. Mickey Brennan impressive.

Yes he scored very well and I also noted their full forward Oisin, I was told last night they are twins, nice players. So far I have noted 17 players this includes the two O'Connell fellow just mentioned. In the Shannon Gaels V Shercock match the other evening I noted the two number 21 from each team they played well to have another look at them Nevin O'Donnell and Ciaran McGinley. I only note players that play so if a county player is playing in any of these matches and does not play well he does not get mentioned. Hard to pick players I can tell you this year for so many clubs are playing either with very young players or players well over thirty.
If you were a Castlerahan fan and you were honest you would have to say that it was not a match yesterday as the Gowna team were just terrible and I noted that the manager of this is team is non other than Kieran Brady. I never in all my years watching Gowna seen a score at any stage during a match 15 points to one against just crazy, they have a very long way to go to recover some team.

sean you shouldn't be posting in a club championship forum as you already stated in your appeal to be under 21 manager last year you have no club, also your claim that most senior teams would struggle to get out of junior is the stupidest thing i've ever heard, drumalee just came up and will probably go back down (I think lacken and gowna will stay up) this would suggest the strongest teams in the county are in senior so keep that misguided opinion to yourself, also just so you know the 17 players you noted is a complete waste of your time as i'm sure val has no interest in the caretakers idea for a panel

I'd have a soft spot for castlerahan sean but means nothing if they lose to redhills. And Gowna poor which is a sign of Cavan football at the moment. We need them doing well. And a lot of teams are playing youngsters and older players because of emigration. The programmes are actually being only filled up to number 25, 26 which is not a good sign.

Ramor - flatter to decieve, every single year
Castlerhan - See Ramor. Seem to rely heavily on county men, who are inconsistent
Redhills - I predicted they'd run out of steam come championship. sticking to that. not a bad side though
Ballinagh - genuine contenders if they can hold their heads
Belturbet - Don't have it in them. not consistent or dynamic enough
Kingscourt - Putting back-to-back titles is hard. Reaching another CF would be an achievement
Killygarry - Lack pedigree, but consistently at 70 - 75%
Mullahoran - Could see them in a final. Coming good at right time
Lacken - not looking good No ingenuity
Gowna - Rebuilding, but can't see a return to glory days soon
Denn - Only play when they feel like it, can't turn it on when it counts
Cavan Gaels - don't have the steel of teams gone by, but I'd expect them to be in the C final. Big contenders
Cuchulainns - Nice footballers but no real punch. Lack a few hardy defenders and a distributor.

And pecho sean is at every game so probably in a better position than me and you to spot players. And he is intitled to an opinion.

pecho before you start waffling off with your stupid posts please try and read my posts correctly first. As for Val not wanting any of the players I note I never said he would. I note players that I feel have ability and then compare them to what is brought into the county set up. I expect many do the same thing. I can post on here anytime I want as I am a fully paid up member of a senior club in the county of Cavan and have been for a very long time. Reason for being a member of any club?? "THIS GIVES ME THE RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT FOOTBALL IN CAVAN AND ATTEND MEETINGS SHOULD I HAVE TOO. I never wanted the Under 21 managers job please read the posts again.
Just in case you think by me being the caretaker/senior grounds man that I am an uneducated person I would like to inform you that I have a full honors Degree and well capable of standing up to be counted anytime.
Now for the misguided opinion about the senior set up its my opinion and I stand by it, its no wonder Cavan footbal is as it is with such poor quality football being played at the higest level. The only team to date that has played with heart and passion have been Ballinagh and despite beating the Gaels I don't think they will win the senior title . It will be Cavan Gaels once again now that they got over the line last night.

Or runners up as they are but at least the four or five Gaels fans at the game got some enjoyment.
