Declan McKiernan, is he the guy who played full forward for the under 21's last year?
kildare blue , 15/08/2011 at 17:53

He was involved 2010 but injury put him out for a long time, I am not sure if it was the juniors however and not the U21. Nice to see him playing and getting back to himself again.

Maybe i picked you up incorrectly.
Hitting your own player, that'll take a bit of work to smooth things over. Lunancy

It surprises me that many people come on here looking for results when they are posted immediately after a game is played on the excellent new Cavan County Board website!

1011406 No suprises in the Q/F line ups, all the old reliable championship teams safely through (with the exception of Gowna i'd say). Some teams can produce the goods in champ and some can not. People were comin on here talikng about ramor and redhills and drumalee, when it comes to championship its experience that counts and its no suprise to me to see Denn, Killygarry, Castlerahan and belturbet through. Gales, Mullahoran, Denn and Castlerahan to get through to Semis. Closest game will be the Killygarry v Castlerahan game.
The championship is wide open this year, whatever teams wants it the most will win it.........

Im sorry but you talk of experience among the teams you say got through, yet they dont have a senior championship between them. Its no suprise they got through because they were in handy groups. If you put ballinagh, mullahoran or ramor in either of the groups with the teams you have mentioned they would have got through. Anyway thats just my opinion, and you are entitled to yours. I hope the final itself is good as i have a feeling if either castlerahan, belturbet, or denn get to it, it could be a rout. Lets face it, gaels will be in it, only teams with any chance of beating them are ballinagh, mullahoran and kingscourt to a lesser extent, the gaels will be out to right the wrongs of last years county final.

So what pray tell were the wrongs from last years county final?

I think all would agree the Gaels were beaten fair and square.

Agree with galoping gazele. Being in a handy group helps.

I agree that the gales will win this years championship but I dont think it will be a rout no matter who they face in a final. I dont agree with "handy groups" in championship football - there is no such thing. The teams I mentioned might not have a championship between them but aside from Gales, KCourt and half a mullahoran team nobody else in the county has. But the teams I mentioned have been fairly consistant in the championship and any team that thinks Denn or Belturbet or Castlerahan of killygarry would be a walkover in a semi would be fooling themselves. Denn have proved this in the past, - just ask Dennman for the stats on that one.
To finish, there were NO wrongs in last years county final - the hungier team won on the day. It will be interesting to see the posts on here if Kingscourt prevail again this time round, will it be the ref, the weather, the crowd, the dressing rooms ????? ...............

Quarter Final Draw

Cavan Gaels v Kingscourt - The gaels beat Ramor relatively easy in the end and Kingscourt looked poor against Lavey. Gaels to win by 5 to 10 points.

Belturbet v Denn - Denn can always rise their game for the championship. Hard to know why they are in Division 2. Denn by 2 or 3.

Killygarry v Castlerahan - If Redhills had taken their chances Castlerahan were out. They still have too much for Killygarry. Castlerahan by 4 or 5 points.

Ballinagh v Mullahoran - The game of the round. There probably won't be much football played but it will be hard to stay away from this one. Ballinagh to win by 1.

By "righting the wrongs" i meant the result. Surely if you got to meet the team who beat you in the championship the previous year, you are going to everything you can to peg one back on them. Maybe this has gone since i stopped playing?? I agree, i never said that kingscourt "fluked" it. They won fair and square and were the most consistent team last year, even in the league.

Quarter Final Draw

Cavan Gaels v Kingscourt - Gaels to gain a modicum of revenge on Kingscourt, after last year, and should progress pulling up...

Belturbet v Denn - Give Belturbet a hesitant vote of confidence, and should win with a few points to spare, but expect Denn to push them all the way...

Killygarry v Castlerahan - Fancy Castlerahan for this one, the inside trio of Mackey, Brady and Coleman, with O'Connell feeding off em, should av too much for Killygarry, and expect them to progress by 4 points...

Ballinagh v Mullahoran - Tight one to call, local derby but reckon Ballinagh might shade this one, however could go either way, and wont be any more than a few points in it..

Quarter Final Draw

Cavan Gaels v Kingscourt - Kingscourt not performing well so far this campaign. they will put it up to the gaels but think the gaels will win by a few points.

Belturbet v Denn - Think this will be close but Belturbet should win this one

Killygarry v Castlerahan - think people are getting carried away with castlerahan's victory over Gowna. Killygarry to win.

Ballinagh v Mullahoran - Tough one to call, Mullahorn is win in hard hitting game.

Quarter Final Draw

Cavan Gaels v Kingscourt - Kingscourt will take them against the odds.

Belturbet v Denn - Always afraid of teams who score goals at ease. But we love spoiling the party

Killygarry v Castlerahan - Castlerahan finally found a manager.I can see them in the final

Ballinagh v Mullahoran - Ballinagh have to progress or this team won t materialise

i know the quarter finals were supposed to be open draw with the added clause that you could not play a team from the group you qualified from.
But how come, it looks like one group was paired off against another group, which left the same process then for the remaining two quarter final fixtures ???
Maybe it's just pure coincidence

there is no such thing as coincidence when it comes to the co board.. everything is for a reason...you can be sure the winners of the gaels/kingscourt wont draw the winners of the ballinagh/mullahoran game in the semi...unless the gaels lose... work it out

sheva7 what is it with you fellow. You have so much anger in that body of yours if it's not the management it's the county board. The draw was made in public and there was no fix its how it panned out.
Get that chip/anger out of your system lad and stop trying to corrupt people's minds.

The Draw was recorded live and can be viewed on Cavangaa.ie or youtube. Can't really see how there could be anything sinister going on with the quarter final pairings when the draw is there for all to see or why anyone would want to fix it!!
