I don't see how you can say that Kingscourt's victory last year was a fluke. I was at the game, Gaels thought all they had to do was show up. Kingscourt's hunger & intensity in the 2nd half won them that game, they won by 4 points & if the game went on for another 5 minutes they would of won by more. They finished much stronger, a fluke victory as you say, would of been a jammy last minute goal or a one point margin. The Gaels are favourites this year, that's for sure. Kingscourt have not played anything to their potential, yet they are still in the quarter finals & may have a big game in them. Gaels by 2 points
Think Ballinagh will have too much for Mullahorn, is it true Philip Brady got a straight red ? if so, he is a massive loss to them as he creates alot of scores & win's vital frees. Ballinagh by four points.
Castlerahan should beat Killygary by a few points.
Belturbet should beat the winners of the other play off game by a few scores, neither team will be able to hold both Bud & Jayo for a full game.

1011080 1006269 Eugene Hill the answer to Cavan's full back problem?

Not a chance. He's not near there. He may have looked good yesterday coz he wasn't been marked. He wont look as good next week when they meet redhills

now dara10 i dont think was bad today either. he kept gumley scoreless as i can remember who is a very good forward. he had a solid game and is physical player and good hands jus what cavan need a bit of power.

Firstly he didn't keep gumley scoreless & secondly gumley was very poor. Still dont think he's all that good.

It surprises me that many people come on here looking for results when they are posted immediately after a game is played on the excellent new Cavan County Board website!

No suprises in the Q/F line ups, all the old reliable championship teams safely through (with the exception of Gowna i'd say). Some teams can produce the goods in champ and some can not. People were comin on here talikng about ramor and redhills and drumalee, when it comes to championship its experience that counts and its no suprise to me to see Denn, Killygarry, Castlerahan and belturbet through. Gales, Mullahoran, Denn and Castlerahan to get through to Semis. Closest game will be the Killygarry v Castlerahan game.
The championship is wide open this year, whatever teams wants it the most will win it.........

County standard is a man who is fast , has a ability to kick ball with both feet , a team player , attitude ,COMMITMENT , Height (ok to have few small players ) , Strong . E.g Georiod mckiernan , Mickey Lyng

No OG the goalkeeper fumbled it left it under his body and into the net, Gumley got the Goal despite teh fact he hardly touched it with a miss kick

Mickey Lyng county standard. Not anymore. The only players in Breffni i'd pick yesterday are Rory Dunne, Cian Mackey, Sean Brady, Ronan Flanagan and Colm Kiernan. Packie Leddy dissapointing.

yes the players you mentioned all played well yesterday there was a few more over the whole day as well. For example the midfielder for Denn Padraig McGovern half forward for Den Colin Kiernan, Martin Cahill was a huge motivator all over the park. This other player was in on the county set up several years ago and played very well yesterday and that was Hubert Smith Denn. Full back for Killeshandra Colm Duffy and the full forward despite the fact he is only half fit Declan McKiernan so nice to see some players stand out and looking the part.

rory should have laid the ball off a bit more to incoming players. Tried to turn and get a shot away himself a bit too often i thought

I think u have misinterpreteed wat i said. I didn mean that the victory itself was a fluke, they were the better team. I meant was it just a once off? like mullahorn put in a great performance in 2006 to beat the gaels and yet they have not beaten them since. That is all i meant by it.

And yes Philip brady received a straight red card for hitting his own player. All may not be well in the mullahorn camp.
