Good day in breffni park yestarday,a well run day, fair play to the county board.castlerahan look strong, gaels were poor, but won when it mattered.had to laugh, the amount of people who turned up to see the gaels get beat,as soon as they scored there goal the place emptied..go to show,we dont like winners in this county
gaelsutd , 08/08/2011 at 11:31

I think most that started to leave were supporters of other clubs that played in the park yesterday but if what was left is all the supporters that the Gaels and Ramor have we are in trouble. No in fairness people did not start to leave until young McCleary's goel, it was all over then as a contest.

1006055 Castlerathan 3-16 Gowna 0-6. Gowna were shocking, relegation beckons!

They made Castlerahan look good who are a very poor senior team right now. All te talk over the last three or four years about them and they are just not good enough. Looks like Cavan Gaels once again for the senior title. It was a bad match but they won it and they will now win the title again but thats as far as they will go.

Hows that then? have you seen the ulster club draw??
do you kno the county champions of each county in ulster?
HOW DO YOU GET YOUR POSTS PRINTED IVE OFTEN WONDERED

I just laugh at your posts .. you say the gaels will win the championship but thats as far as they will go? Seems you know the draw and all the other County Championships results.. Your sitting in Breffni Pk with your little notebook noting players who played well.. Why not mention Johnstone so?? Or are you only talent spotting?
Was Val Andrews in Breffni park yesterday?..Or did he attend any Championship games this weekend? JUST A THOUGHT

Sean u have to be the biggest bluffer on here but very entertaining ha ha ;-). Have to say the championship is very open this year and judging by ur posts I think ur a closet gaels fan but in fairness Ballinagh and Mullahoran will have a big say where the senior title goes this year!!

Some of the Geals players have discipline issues (ulster few years back springs to mind and a SPITTING incident) and also don't think Forde has what it takes to guide this Team to championship glory.

They are also an ageing side!!!

dude I can tell you and anyone that wants to know I am not a supporter of the gales facts.

Did you see the spitting incident so did I but is there anything being done about it NO it would seem for the same player played in Breffni park yesterday as I am sure you know. I have a video of the match but sadly it would seem it was not picked up. Yes you are right about the discipline as well there are huge issues here also. To tell you all the truth I thuink it would be nice to see Ballinagh win the senior title just to see how well they would cope in Ulster for they have been there all ready at another level and won.

Sean, if Ballinagh were to win the championship (which is unlikely) they would only get one game in Ulster. The only team that has the talent to compete in Ulster from Cavan is the gaels but they are not performing near to where they should be due to unrest and egos in the camp.

Cavan gaels won yesterday and deservedly so. They have a system and it generally works together with good players and a good bench. If some teams beats them this year and/or wins the championship i hope they do well in Ulster I hope the same for the Gaels. Begrudgery is alive and well in this county but the good people will rise above that nonsense. Its a good championship this year and not the foregone conclusion it has been other years the pack is catching up Kingscourt did it last year and now we have many pretenders. Hard graft, coaching and development will lead to clubs competing. Bile and finger pointing will achieve nothing.

Who ever wins this year will have the benefit of a competative championship to prepare for The Ulster club together with the confidence boosting exploits of our minors U21s and Virginia College.

you are right but there are too many refs in that team along with the other issues all ready mentioned. They had St Galls beat last year but the rest is history

They are only 4 teams capable of winning it this year.

They are:

Ballinagh
Cavan Gaels
Kingscourt
Mullahoran

All 4 teams are around the same level. The draw, referees and injuries will have a big impact on who wins.

I predict:
Gaels wont win it but may reach the final
Ballinagh will be knocked out by the Gaels

One of Kingscourt/Mullahoran will win it.

It all boils down to experience come the knockouts. Im afraid Castlerahan & ramor have to lose a few more before their time comes

I predict Gaels,Mullahorn,Denn,Redhills as my outsider. I seen their game against gaels in semi/quater two years ago. Ray kelly was disgraceful..

You can all talk about what u like. Some teams i.e Denn Mullahorn have championship pedigree.& will always be there. Ex county man said yesterday nobody will wana meet denn they were 2nd best team in breffni yesterday but gaels will it in the end(experience)

3 fairly poor games in breffni last night, Castlerahen looked good but that was mainly down to how bad Gowna were, it was like watching a senior team play a junior team, Denn drumalee game wasnt great either denn deserved to win but Cuchulainns will beat them next week, the gales did what they had to do, didnt play great but the didnt have to cause Ramor are a poor side, all in all none of the games will live long in the memory, anyone at the Ballinagh or Kingscourt games?

Was up at the Ballinagh-Lacken game. Ballinagh raced into a 12 point lead (1:09 to 0:00) .Lacken then tagged on a few frees before half time. Lacken kept up the pressure and brought the game to within 3 points of Ballinagh who at this stage were looking dodgy. One of the Ballinagh players suffered an awful knee injury and game was delayed for almost half an hour until ambulance etc came. Ballinagh then pushed on a won by 4 in the end. They need to really up their game if they are to challenge but I suppose the local derby was never going to be easy.

1006269 Eugene Hill the answer to Cavan's full back problem?

Not a chance. He's not near there. He may have looked good yesterday coz he wasn't been marked. He wont look as good next week when they meet redhills.
