Championship draw

if a ref knows that there arent 15 players on the pitch from one team, but feels he has given them enough time to get out,can he throw in the ball?if it happens more often it might stop this rubbish of leaving teams out on the pitch for five minutes just to unsettle them

Ramor will be no push-overs. apart from the Gaels they gave Kingscourt their toughest game in the league and probably should have beat them.

I predict a Ramor v Gaels final

i was at the the three beffni matchs at the weekend...and they were three terrible games...rahen - mullahorn 5-1 at half time....cavan football is brutal!!! lacken, ramour maybe the best of the three but still nit worth the 12 euro entry fee...better off at home watchin x factor...

Yes, i agree the football over the weekend was at a low standard. Cuchulains were unlucky against the gaels any other team and i have a feeling they would have been beat. Conor smith caused a bit of hastle. Gaels will lift it for mullahoran of course, but i feel this is mullahorans year! They walked passed castlerahan, i dont think they got out of 2nd gear. Castlerahan were desperate, worst performance over the whole weekend im afraid, rely too much on ronan. And i cant for the life of me figure out why they kept kicking high ball in on top of ronan and oisin oconnell, when low quick ball would have suited them. They never adopted that drastic approach all year to. It played right into mullahoran's hands and gave them a platform to attack from. The lacken, ramor game was ok. Lacken owned the first half, ramor owned the second. Both full forward lines looked dangerous, especially ramor's in the second half. I think ramor's legs and youth won it for them in the end, would love to know the average age of their team. Kingscourt gowna game was so so. I have a gut feeling that kingscourt will reach the final, they play a lovely brand of football on their day. So mullahoran by 1. And kingscourt by 3.

Gaels v Cuchullainns:
Cuchullains nearly pulled off a massive shock. Whether the Gaels were complacent or just could not get going I don't know. But cuchullains fully deserved their 6 point lead at half time. Although the gaels did miss some chances that they would usually score with their eyes closed. What happened at the start of the 2nd half was comical & no doubt the corner back will be gutted. What took him so long to come out I don't know, but he had plenty of time to get back on the pitch. All they needed to do was stay in the game for the 1st 5mins of the 2nd half & they had a great chance of beating the champions. However, the ball hit the net & the gaels clicked into gear & won the game. I thought the ref was a joke, crotty should have got a straight red card kicking Keating on the ground.

Kingscourt v Gowna:
Very tight game this one. Kingscourt started off the better but gowna slowly put their game plan into action & broke up the play. A lot of hits that should have been punished by the referee. Thought the wing back for Gowna, although did a job in negating the influence of Barry Reilly, it's a cynical way to play football & is what can be expected from Gowna at times. Kingscourt won by the skin of their teeth & will need to improve dramatically for the semi's.

Lacken v Ramor:
This was definitely a game of two halves. Lacken were in control for the 1st half & looked as if they would win this comfortably. Galligan & Finbar Reilly were spraying the ball around nicely & kicked some v good frees. But in the second half, Ramor got to grips & just found some momentum & rattled off 5 or 6 points on the trot without reply. Lacken were very unfortunate not to force a draw, hitting both posts with the last play of the game. Ramor are a good young team & it should be a good semi between them & kingscourt. Both are footballing sides. Ado cole will be a big loss to them.

Mullahorn v Castlerahan:
Thought this would be a cracker but it turned out to be a damp squib. Castlerahan for all their talk of being challengers, were v poor. Sean Brady kicked 5 balls away in the first half straight to the opposition. Then when they did let the ball in, it was a high 50/50 ball which always favours a defender unless you have a big target man, which Flanagan is not. Mullahorn were poor compared to how they played during the group stages but they did not need to be in top form. Paul the Gunner was everywhere, v hard to pick up & seems to always be in the right place at the right time. Mackey did v little. If Eddie Reilly is home for the semi, i think mullahorn might shade it.

I don't think Val Andrews will have learnt a whole lot from any of the above matches.

Hey I know the bookies rarely lose but anyone see any value in the bets below from paddy power? From what I have seen of the teams they have been winning while playing within themselves. (At least I hope thats not as good as it gets :) )
Cavan Gaels 8/15
Kingscourt 11/4
Mullahoran 9/2
Ramor Utd 11/1
Can anyone beat the Gaels!!!!

Ramor-james mcenroe,Where would you play this fellow I ask???
Lacken-Niall mckiernan, raymond galligan I agree with you these fellows are playing well for sure.
Crosserlough-johnie lynch If this is the same Lunch that was dropped with Garry Ferncombe from the Cavan Minors some years backI remember the evening well when they were dropped by a so called very knowledagable manager??? some shock I can tell you and I for one was very surprised by the decision but what would I know.
Castlerahan-fergal flanagan, yes this lad is one to watch for sure
Mullahoran-enda rielly jury still out on this fellow I expect one will see what happens in the Gaels match
Cuchulainns-conor smith Now how many chances do you give this lad he has tons of ability but he will not train its that simple.
why did you leave out the best player that evening on Cuchulainns side Eugene. Keating

James mcenroe is an excellent centre back, was exposed against lacken due to midfielders not tracking back and it left 3 or 4 running at him. I havent seen ado cole play well in any game i was at in recent times. Was he dropped off the u21 panel earlier this year? seems to have bags of potential but wont work hard. Still, hes young enough. Ramor have a lot of good young players. Niall mckiernan is definately one for the future, great athlete, huge left foot, just needs to get a little bit stronger and he will nail down a midfield position for the u21s this year. Galligan has an excellent strike of the ground, hes very strong and most importantly can kick off both feet but again he has had his chance before, may have a little bit more experience now. Fergal flanagan is strong and sort of an old fashioned full back, honest and hard working will die for the cause, just not sure about county level just yet, he may be exposed for pace. Gain he is one of a few young talented players from castlerahan including the twins. Enda reilly is all left footed but an intelligent player, sometimes a bit selfish. Didnt get starting on the minors? Correct me if im wrong. Can we think of any more names as to have impressed in the championship? they dont have to be young, just players who will give it all. Thats what the county needs at the minute as stated eleswhere on the site.

iI have been to nearly all games in breffni and thereabouts
Most players are out at this stage but here are some of the players that have caught my eye.
Ramor-james mcenroe very good but a bit dodgey. i would say anton reilly and jack brady
Lacken-Niall mckiernan, raymond galligan only for them lacken would be out
Crosserlough-johnie lynch cant say much but he is on a poor team.Enda Gaffney played very good.
Castlerahan-fergal flanagan couldn't make the under 21 panel by far over rated!,jamie leahy?,o`connell twins are very good the forward is a very good player surprised they weren't involved in the under 21 panel last year.
Mullahoran-Paul the gunner is playing great stuff and a serious worker.enda rielly just brilliant specialist on the free kicks ,the center back is brilliant great mobility!!Michael Brady is good keep an eye out for him.
Cuchulainns-conor smith yes he is playing very well this year and should get another run.Keating was only there for one game but was impressed at his fitness.
Cavan Gaels=no stand out player this year just a great team effort this year
Belturbet=Jason reilly played a good championship but couldn't do it on his own
Denn=Thomas Corr

you would think that there was no senior championship semi finals on this weekend. Not an article on the cavan page or a comment posted about either of the games. Are they called off with all the rain perhaps ?
