No harm intended boys but if Shercock are favourites to walk the JFC football in Cavan has hit an all time low.

Now thats a bit harse johnbarnes. Shercock players know they'll have to be at the best they can and have lady luck on there side if they are to win in the Qfinal. Thats as far as they are thinking about.

in al fairness look at what shercock have came up against so far, maghera and templeport 2 of d worst teams this season and if i no templeport they played a bunch of 2nd string players against shercock because they knew dey wud av no chance in junior championship and instead dey have saved a lot of their better footballers for the junior b championship!.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP:

Cavan Gaels v Cuchulainns: This match could be over by half time if the real Gaels side shows up. If not, then the Cu-Chu's could just prove to be a thorn in their side. Nevertheless the verdict is that Cavan Gaels will win comfotably as they seek to contest their 11th succesive championship final. GAELS BY 6-8 POINTS

Kingscourt v Gowna: Both teams have a good history in the county championship. Kingscourt seem a completely different side to that of a few years ago, probably due to the young players who have come through into their side. For Gowna, it is the same old reliables who will be hoping to cause an upset in Breffni. Gowna have had a mixed bag in terms of results this year, whereas Kingscourt have been consistenly winning. I think Kingscourt will come through, but not by much. KINGSCOURT BY 1-3 POINTS

Lacken v Ramor Utd: If you were to judge both sides on league form, you might be inclined to think that Lacken are favourites. However, the past couple of seasons has seen Lacken involved in the relegation playoffs whereas Ramor have been catching the eye in the latter stages of the competition. Lacken are playing direct football which has created problems for many sides this year. Ramor have been unlucky several times in defeat but always seem to peak for the championship. It brings the best out of them and therefore they are tipped to win. RAMOR UTD BY 3-5 POINTS

Castlerahan v Mullahoran: This was the tie which really caught the eye when the championship draw was made. Both teams are very well matched, both have come up short over the past couple of years when it has come to the latter stages and both will desperately want to win this and dispose of, what I am sure both sides would agree, are strong title contenders. Castlerahan have really been disappointing in the championship and have been accused of bottling it in the past. Mullahoran are always dogged, you know what you will get from them. But Castlerahan's determination and bit of extra class could see them into the semi's. CASTLERAHAN BY 2-4 POINTS

Cavan Gaels v Cuchulainns:
Cavan Gaels without using any different players that started their last match they will beat Cuchulainns easy. The only thing that could beat the gaels is complacency, Easy win for the Gaels.

Kingscourt v Gowna:
I heard Dermot McCabe is back playing and if he can start maybe Gowna by a point or two if he cannot start I would say Kingscourt by 3.

Lacken v Ramor Utd:
On lacken's last game in Breifne Park I will go with them to win by 3 or 4 points.

Castlerahan v Mullahoran:
Ronan Flannigan cannot win this game on his own so I will go with Mullahorn to beat Castlerahen by 5 or 6 points and as they Mullahorn have some momentum going I would not be surprised if they went on to win the County Final.

Well Sean it looks like complacency nearly beat the Gaels - they only won by three points against cuchulainns.
Cuchulainns gave them a good run and were unlucky especially with the first goal when the corner back was not even on the pitch.
Gaels can count themselves lucky to still be in the championship.

Luck is what makes you succesful, the gaels were years ahead of cuchullains last night in the second half, and in the end experience won it for our great club..its not the refs fault or the gaels fault that they only wanted to send 14 players out in the second half, thats the differece between a small club and a big club...well done gaels..

Experience came through in the end. I did say only complacency would beat them did I not.
Having said that Who would have thought that Terry Farrelly could still play as he did being that he won an Ulster medal in 97 quality and a joy to watch a good player in action poetry in motion. Sean

Just a point of note here gaelsutd.

The ref must check that there are 15 players on the pitch from both sides and no more than 15 , it is his resonsibility before he starts both halfs to do this, so in a nut shell the ref was out of order starting. Cuchallains had enough time anyway having said that because it took so long for a team to come out to start the second half. NERVE GAMES. Sean
