773056 SEANN ORINN .. Living in the Uk i dont see many club matches but i get to all County Team Senior Championship matches, Now let me tell you something you might be too blinkered to see.. 1 ... Gavin Duffy is as good if not better than any wing half back i saw playing for Cavan this year. 2..Young Murray is as good as any inside forward that started for Cavan this year barr Johnstone 3,.. mcClarey is not far behind him either 4...Domnic Reilly is as versitile as ul get anywhere in the County. 5.. King could hold his own in midfield. 6.. Eamon Reilly is a cert if intrested, 7.. Collins though been 33 is as goos as whats around 8..Forde can still play a bit even though he is retired. 9... Nothing wrong with Elliott either 10..Johnstone a cert. 11.. Dunne will be good in time2/3 years. Now seanorinn theres 11 players that if intrested should be on the County panel...
.......................................................................................... if's and but's. obviously Forde isnt interested if he's retired? And obviously King & the Reilly's aren't interested as they've turned down the opportunity on many occasions. And why should Dunne be on it if he's not good enough for county standard as you say Collins is too old. McClarey can't get on a club team, why would you play him on the county? Elliot had his chance, didnt take it. Not much of a spine left.....

Young Murray is at the moment involved at one of the Inter County Levels so he has been noted McClarey is also involved at Inter County Level Domnic Reilly Eamon Reilly Doc Collins A. Forde Elliott Dunne Johnston are or were in on the County panel or are on the panel so you are naming all players who are there or who have left for one reason or another so nothing new. You left out Lyng Smith Rabbitt Meehan Crotty. These players have either been tried or they just don't want to know so what's the point may I ask.
I would like to remind you I watch all the players that enter the fray plus what goes on outside the line as well so no blinkers on this fellow but sadly I am pointing my finger directly at you for it would seem that you saw just one team yesterday or were the other team just figures of my imagination.??

King could hold his own in midfield. Not sure if he's for midfield but could be useful on the squad 6.. Eamon Reilly is a cert if intrested, Hasn't transferred club form to county form before bar one time he had few good games in a row, might be worth another chance though as he could help coax some the other lads in,always great leader for gaels 7.. Collins though been 33 is as goos as whats around No too old 8..Forde can still play a bit even though he is retired. No too old, great servant but was out of his depth last few years he played with the county! 9... Nothing wrong with Elliott either Nothing wrong with him but i'd prefer miller back than him! 10..Johnstone a cert. 11.. Dunne will be good in time2/3 years. wishfulthinkin, the gaels lads were never asked by Tommy Carr into the senior panel. He never turned up to 1 game in terry coyle to watch them play.I know that for a fact.If he had of got talking to a few of the lads after a match and was understanding towards some of their personal circumstances ie work,study..etc i would guess many of the gaels players would have turned up.Instead the gaels played the senior 2nd team, hammered them and afterwards were asked by representatives(not Tommy Carr) to go into the 2nd team panel and work from there. As you can imagine they said they were not interested and laughed at the thought of going into such an unorganised group.Hopefully Val will have a different approach. And so far i've seen him at 2 more senior games than i ever seen Tommy Carr(bluffer).

same names all the time look you even mention Dunne did he not walk away from the U21 panel this year maybe you should ask him why and also several others who just dod not want to get involved. A. Forde Doc. Collins C.Nelligan D.Rabbitt Again just a few who gave to the County and did us proud.
Anyone that sits down and watches a match can see if players have it or not and I can tell you that there are plenty players with potential now all we can hope is that the new management will hit on them and try them out and go from there. Thats all we can ask for at this moment in time.??

Tell me was there not a player called Enda O'Reilly playing yesterday is he not worth a mention in the same breath with what you have just named, Come on get off the high horse and come down to ground zero and be honest ??? Is mise Sean O'Rinn

We do need more of the Gaels players on the county panel. I dont agree however with backboning the county team with at least 7 of them. The gaels are strong due to their strength and depth. Look at the players who didnt play yesterday, Crotty, McClarey, Meehan, Walsh, G. Collins, Maloney-Derham. All players with some degree of county experience. What the gaels do lack, and i believe is their stumbling block when it comes to Ulster, is the individual excellence. Johnstone apart they are a team of very good footballers. As good as Duffy, Murray, King and others are i do believe there are better in these positions already with the county. However we do need Chesty, Lyng, Johnstone on the team, with the others named pushing for their places.

Use guys are so biast toward Cavan Gaels they beat a poor mullahorean team and they only player they have good enough for the county is Johnstone maybe young Dunne! Saw them against an average ballinagh side this year and they struggled for many parts of the game and johnstone was doing all the scoring. The level of football in Cavan at present is atrotious at the moment especially when we see an very average Cavan Gaels team getting to their 11th consecutive county final, Cavan football is really embarassing at the moment!!

There is something just not right about this post eyeball, here are FACTS over 90 players were asked into the panel many of these were from your own club most had not even the common decency to reply. I have the greatest respect for E.Reilly's ability as a player but maybe instead of writing on here who should be on the panel why not ask each and everyone of them why and maybe then you might stop pointing the fingers in the wrong direction. Not every p-layer wants the pressure of intercounty football???

I would hope that Val and Terry along with Stephen will get our best players on Board if thats 11 from the gaels then so be it, I also hope they have more positivity than the nay sayers on this thread who can see with absolute clarity what is wrong but haven't the remotest inkling of what needs to happen to put things right. Furthermore they seem happiest when they condemn our better players.

maybe stick to the cork hogan stand, u say u have no affiliation yet ur a member of the gowna club, u also say numerous gaels players and former players have time for u i am here to tell u i very much doubt thats true, ur knowledge of football seems mediocre, were d players marking johnston in the stand or something u seem to think noone ever marks him, u seem to be against the gaels lads bud at least they show ambition and drive to succeed if the other clubs had the same maybe we would have a better county team.Dominick reilly was never on a county panel and was not asked in niall murray never played cavan juniors so ur information is incorrect,As i say ur job is the caretaker not to be giving out information on who trained and who didnt this shud be classified, have u ever been to a game where u have had to pay in ie outside of breffni, these are all things to consider, u decide?

Barry Reilly for Kingscourt was exceptional Saturday night definately a county man. Murray was very good sunday, along with Chesty and Dominic. Dane O Dowd for Drumlane is also a good footballer.

I would hope ochonlir that I am excluded from the above post for I want nothing more than the best players on board but if you don't mind I need too add ones that respect their jersey and what it stands for to wear it. I too hope that Val Andrews will assert his authority and bring in the best and play's the best. you will note I say Val Andrews for I know how he works and if he sticks to his way we will be heading in the right direction management rule players play.

although gaels won pulling up.there werent many outstanding individuals.johnston obviously was good, murray and d reilly as well but the rest were average and not really county material.king is definitely not good enough and i dont know what anyone would see in duffy, lyng, mcclarey etc young meehan has some potential maybe.for mullahoran phillip brady wasnt bad and enda oreilly kicked his frees well but they were out on their feet in the first half when at one stage in the first half they had 3 men with their hands on their knees

i think you will see a sea-change with the new county mgt set-up. the emphasis will be on un-earthing new talent. these new players will be big and strong. not necessarly the most stand-out players on the team but honest hard-working players that with the right coaching will be moulded into county players in a few years. these may be junior and intermediate players and not household names (even in their own houses). Vlubs will be asked to nominate their 2 biggest and strongest players and from that start the panel will be formed.

Strange post this for sure. You speak with experience I expect. Show me any post where I give out confidential information for I am not privy to anymore information than any other person here in Cavan. Now giving out classified information you have the wrong person for I would not be privy to any information that would be classified, all the information that I have is public knowledge and open to the public domain.
Paying onto grounds well yes I have to pay to enter any other ground in Cavan all National League games outside the county all matches I attend in Croke Park.
I think you will see this was my piece about young Murray where did I say involved with juniors?? Young Murray is at the moment involved at one of the Inter County Levels so he has been noted?
I have nothing what so ever against any Gaels man so maybe time to relax a bit and take a deep breath.
I don't be on the Cork Hogan Stand so would not know what is going on there but I will be in Croke Park next Sunday shouting for Cork that's for sure.
Give a player like Johnston an inch and he will destroy you there is no question about this persons ability as a player and this is why I keep saying if you will not mark him he will score at his leisure every time, too stop him you must mark him its that simple but there is no need to put two three or four players on him man mark him keep him close and you starve the exit its as it should be. Having to put more than one on him you free another so what's the point.

seannorinn....There is no need to copy and paste because fortunely i can remember what i post. You have a big chip on your shoulder when it comes to Cavan Gaels despite what you say about being neutral. I have no connection with Gaels and have as many friends in Kingscourt, Ballinagh, Templeport, Killashandra, as i have in Cavan Town. Despite the limited Club football i see i did tell you on another thread who would contest the final............something you couldnt do despite all the games you watch.. Then again there is a difference in watching and reading them.
The reason i mentioned the Gaels in the first place was despite them now being in 11 finals in a row Johnstone was the only man capable of holding down a place..This amazed me as i remember Crosserlough in the 60s winning 7 in a row and having 6/7 players on the County team and rightly so.
After watching yesterdays game i felt young Murray was as good a forward as any that played for Cavan this year in the Championship....Same for Gavin Duffy , very good attacking half back who can score..
Domnic Reilly played well as did Eammon..McClarey has potential..And Dunne will be good in time..Elliott as good as what was there this year.
You keep talking about the players that were asked and wouldnt commit... Another poster eyeball is spot on in his post about what happened this last 2 years.. I spoke to 2 gaels players that were NEVER asked to join the county set-up this past 2 years by Tommy Carr....So get your facts right before you make statements..
Finaly the reason i mention so many Gaels players is that they seem to play a team game ,all working for each other for the good of the team....Something thats been lacking at County level.. If 7/8 of these Gaels lads could help transfer that type of football and team work to the County panel by their inclusion well wouldnt it be of benefit?? Seann for someone that says they are impartial so seem to go into one when someone mentions the Gaels.
