Mullahoran 0-10 Castlerahan 0-5. Poor enough game, Mullahoran were by far the better side but didn't make it show on the scoreboard. They lead by 0-6 to 0-1 at half time and that was after they hide a lot of wides a Paul the Gunner hit the bar within the first ten seconds of the game. Castlerahan had a little purple patch in the second half and brought the gap back to 3 but that was as close as they got, Mullahoran then seen the game out. Mackey done a lot of work for Castlerahan, but he wasn't that effective and had little help. Although he was named there, how come Flanagan spent so much time in the full forward line, he would have been more effective between the half back and half forward line. Anyway, there is more to come fromMullahoran. They have a lot in reserve, but they need to replace Little Danny Brady, he has been a great servant to the game and to his club, but he is past it. Bring him on as an impact sub if needed, but he played nearly the full hour. Raymond Lynch should take his place. Enda Reilly had a great game.

Nothing wrong with wee Danny he is a cute player and worth his place on any team. Paul the gunner played well but how the hell can you say Makey did. I too was surprised where Flannagan was but managers have done strange things this last few weeks.

I never said Mackey played well Sean. I said he done a lot of work but was ineffective. He did have a lot of ball but he done very little to nothing with it, thats not saying he played well. Also, I know Little Danny is a cute player, but at this stage, Mullahoran want to be bringing on young players for the experience. Raymond Lynch is 18, he needs to be playing Senior Championship regularly to become a key player. The future is the youth. I would kill for Little Danny to be 10 years younger, he is an awesome player, but the truth is he is nearly 40. I still think he could have more of an impact as a sub in the second half.

My mistake about makey sorry about that but I would say Danny will call it a day after this year, he has been around a long time and gave great service to Mullahorn

Cavan Gaels 1-13 0-10 Mullahoran. The two best senior teams on form are in the final. Looks interesting.

Lacked passion lacked tempo lacked understanding lacked a plan its hard to know what will come out of this for Cavan as a whole.
I for one thought in fact I fancied Mullahorn to do it this year but the team that came out today did nothing at all, I wonder why Danny the gunner did not start for despite his age this fellow has loads of passion badly needed in the hour of need.

seann o rinn . i dont see many lub games as i live in london. but i saw todays game. How come nobodys mentioned Domnic Reilly before?? McClarey, Murray, Duffey, e reilly, King, Lyng,Johnstone . are good enough for the Cavan Panel.

Look Seann o rinn. ur talking about one Mullahoran Player here. U see the Game?? What was their return from play?? U see their game plan on Johnstone?? explain it or do you need advice first.. Cos il tell u it.They Dropped 2 men back on Johnstone and invited the Gaels at them..Gaels attacking backs won that game.. Murray and Lyng and McClarey when he came on took the pressure of Johnstone.. Team PLAY.Something that could be very useful at County level. IM expecting 7/8 GAELS PLAYERS at least on the new County panel.

Lyng was on the county panel he left it
Johnston playes on the county panel
McClarey played with the U21 this year
Murray I stand corrected played with the U21 and junior
Duffey I don't know
E Reilly will not play he was ih the panel
D.Reilly the same

if you think from todays match that these are county standard then we may give up for not one well the fact no one marked Johnston he gave a man of the match performance but hey mark me and I will show my quality its that simple.

Seanorinn...i never said it was county standard but these lads are as good as we have.. Yes there is a lack of talent.. There also seems to be a lack of intrest..The County team should be backboned by at least 7/8 gaels players and build a team around them.. 10 finals in a row.and the only player on County Team is Johnstone.......something wrong somewhere

there definately should be more Cavan Gaels on the county team, their record alone proves that. we need our best players on our county team!

0chonlir...At last we agree on something! Ok the standard of football is poor in general. All the more reason to have 7/8 players from the top club side.
I remember back when Crosserlough were winning 7 in a row in the late 60s ..They had 6/7 players backbone of the county team then. And Cavan were winning Ulster Titles too..It makes sense to backbone your county team with your best club especially when they are as consistant as the Gaels have been this past few years..

The dogs on the street know that there should be at least 7 gaels players on the county team. They have a winning mentality and don't except sub standard training,commitment..etc.Seanorinn has got a chip on his shoulder when it comes to Gaels players for some reason. He seems to have some inside knowledge of the county board. This is the problem.Do you think there is jealosy like we have, in counties like Armagh.Get the gaels players in along with the best of the rest and after a couple of good wins in championship football, the likes of seanorinn will be small voices in the corner that most people will ignore.

agreed

the new mgmt team must resolve any reasons that may get in the way of this

so an understanding of why some CG players don't want to play for cavan, if this is indeed the case, and what needs to happen to overcome this.

Richiej: it is obvious that you don't see many matches for if you feel that the County should have 7 or 8 of the Cavan gales players as our spine or back bone we may as well quit for if the performance yesterday was to your satisfaction and that you would be happy to have these players on board well sorry to say there is no point in having a senior set up for on yesterdays performance out from one player you could not and I will repeat this statement your could not pick senior county players sad I am sorry to say but true.
I am hoping to god that Val Andrews yesterday will have seen first hand the major task he has ahead of him in getting even 15 players up to senior standard if you were to go on what went on yesterday.
Revert back to our youth no matter what club they come from and build around them.
There should be no such thing as a senior senior player everyone should be equal and you have to work night after night for their place its that simple.

eyeball I have made it clear that I don't care what club you come from when it comes to the County players it matters not if they are Cavan Gales Mullahorn Gowna Ballinagh Butlersbridge Redhills ect all I want to see is the best its that simple I hope this clears your tunnel vision towards me.
As I have no affiliation towards anyone you will have to understand that I like most supporters want the best on the panel no matter who they are, you can play all the Cavan Gales team for all I care but they have to be the best that are available to the county its that simple. Remember this once they are training as part of the County panel they are no longer playing as club players so the club they play for does not come into the equation so why should it then be an issue for me if they are Cavan Gaels or not.

I get on very well with most of the Cavan Gales players both from the past and the present for they know what I stand for.
Some day maybe ask the likes of
O. Galligan
the Reilly brothers "Old Stock"
M.Lyng
E.Reilly
Doc. Collins
N.Walshe
C.Nelligan
A.Forde
S.Reilly
S.Johnston
To name but a few???

The only inside knowledge that I have is that I see them come and I see them go and I have no more than that.
I see good one go sadly and I see bad ones stay sadly its how it is at this moment in time but lets hope this is going to change with Val Andrews.
I suppose one can say read this space in 18 moths time????

SEANN ORINN .. Living in the Uk i dont see many club matches but i get to all County Team Senior Championship matches, Now let me tell you something you might be too blinkered to see..
1 ... Gavin Duffy is as good if not better than any wing half back i saw playing for Cavan this year.
2..Young Murray is as good as any inside forward that started for Cavan this year barr Johnstone
3,.. mcClarey is not far behind him either
4...Domnic Reilly is as versitile as ul get anywhere in the County.
5.. King could hold his own in midfield.
6.. Eamon Reilly is a cert if intrested,
7.. Collins though been 33 is as goos as whats around
8..Forde can still play a bit even though he is retired.
9... Nothing wrong with Elliott either
10..Johnstone a cert.
11.. Dunne will be good in time2/3 years.
Now seanorinn theres 11 players that if intrested should be on the County panel...
