''wishfulthinkin'' good one. hopefully the kingscourt supporters have enough in the tank to boo you after the next game you lose just like they did against cucu's bad form when your own supporters boo you easily knowing your a townie team

wtfioy can you explain this bit more clearly as I don't quite underatand. are you saying that the kingscourt supporters booed their own team because they were beaten by Cuhullains ?

It's like the Da Vinci Code

Are kingscourt players the long lost Templar knights and wtfioy has a rosewood container with a Cryptex

tune in Next week where we'll see cuchullains battle it out with representatives of the Rosslyn Chapel first 15, with silas at full back and Bezu Fache at corner forward, to locate the madonna of the Rocks.

Attached is Rial 6.22 T.O. 2009. This rule shows if teams are on same points after games next weekend the procedure that will be followed for teams to progress to semi finals.

This can be found on page 77 of the 2009 Official Guide.

(c) Where Teams finish with equal points for Qualification for the Concluding Stages, or for Promotion or Relegation, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified:

(i) Where two Teams only are involved - the outcome of the meeting of the two Teams in the previous game in the Competition;

(ii) Scoring Difference (subtracting the total Scores Against from total Scores For);

(iii) Highest Total Score For;

(iv) A Play-Off.

Exceptions to (c):
(1) In relation to means (ii) and (iii) above, if the accumulated scores of a team, so involved, are affected by a disqualification, loss of game on a proven objection, retirement or walk over, the tie shall be decided by a Play-Off.
(2) Regulations (i), (ii) and (iii) shall not apply to under 16 or younger age grade competitions.

Should be an interesting weekend ahead. Is it just an open draw for the quarter finals or is there a pool with group winners and one with group runners up?

In group 1, Castlerahan are home and dry. Lacken vs. Killygarry should be a tight game but Lacken seem to be going into the game in better form given Killygarry's poor displays against both Crosserlough and Castlerahan. Castlerahan and Lacken to progress

In group 2, Mullahoran should make it through from their current position. The second position is harder to call considering any one of 3 teams could get it and there isn't a whole lot to choose between any of them. I'd fancy Belturbet though to beat Gowna who were very poor last weekend and Mullahoran to beat Denn. Mullahoran and Belturbet to progress

In group 3, Ramor really opened it last weekend by holding the Gaels. For once, there is a chance that Cavan Gaels won't make it through the group stages. That being said, you would have to fancy them to beat Ballinagh especially as they seem to lack a huge threat up front with the loss of Niall McDermott. Ramor should beat a demotivated Lavey team with nothing to play for. Cavan Gaels and Ramor to progress

In group 4, there has been seen some shocks. Nobody would have fancied the Cucus to beat Kingscourt and then in turn lose to a depleted Redhills team. Score difference should decide this group and I think Kingscourt and Redhills will progress.

Open draw for the quarters AFAIK.

I've mixed feelings about whether it should be seeded or not.

Castlerahan are going well, watching them down through the years, there is something different about them this year in the champ. I really hope they go that extra step this year and make a final. I was glad i attended the denn belturbet game, was a rip roaring affair! A real championship game, young costello is a great player. Mullahoran look like they are hitting form now, and have a nice blend of youth in their team. I was so suprised with how vulnerable and weak gowna looked at the back, mullahoran looked like scoring on most attacks. Gaels are at a snails pace at the minute and will soon get going, starting with ballinagh on friday im afraid, breffni will suit them against ballinagh. Ramor blow hot and cold but they should beat lavey, you never know, there is no love lost between the two. Was a great weekend of football overall i must say!

Castle rahan could go to the final this year i ve no doubt.If they move the ball fast enough they will.Cavan geals will win the championship if they aviod belturbet or lacken.ballinagh won t get a handle on them this weekend.Denn will beat Mullahorn if Frank & Colin kiernan are playing.If not it ll be tight.But you know denn will give you everyrthing they have.

Kingscourt going well & good to see tham outta the group.

Its actually going to be a good championship.I hope the refs are fair & up to pace.last nights junior b in Crosskeys was a disgrace.really really por ref,hard to know just was he biased or should he forget about refing cause people left the grounds wondering did he ever play the game...

I was at the Kingscourt-Blackwater Gaels on Sunday evening and I must say, despite the fact that the opposition was poor, Kingscourt were excellent all round! Blackwater had Givney playing full-forward and I am not sure who the full-back for Kingscourt was but he fairly gave Givney a roastin! I think they called him bomber?? In my opinion Kingscourt could be the team to finally stop the Gaels stronghold on the Championship!

Was at the gaels ballinagh game last night very contrversial toward the end of the game when ballinagh clearly scored a goal and the umpire a referee from Mullahorean signalled a 45 when the ball was clearly in the back of the NET! Its no wonder the GAA scene is so bad in CAVAN

I think it was a square ball that was being disputed was it not???

I thought they were debating whether it was a square ball too but it's irrelevant as the goal was given. Johnston was the difference between the two sides last night. He gave an exhibition of point scoring in the first half. Collins was excellent at full back and handled big Maguire very well.

In fairness to the doc he did not have much to do to mark Adrian McGuire, Ballinagh brought in Durkan too late , he caused loads of problems when he came on. S. Johnston had no one marking him and it was easy to score what he did I think 8 points. Nice to see M. Lyng back playing and Levi Murphy held his own also well done to them. Enda King looked good as well.

Sean O'Rinn, it was Pauric Maguire that Collins marked for most of the game but I take your point. Still an excellent performance from him though and I would agree with you about King too. Very impressive in midfield.

Killygarry vs. Lacken was the best game I've seen in the championship this year. Lacken looked to be in control for most of the game but a sloppy goal let Killygarry back into it. In the dying minutes, Ray Galligan scored two outstanding long range frees to allow Lacken to win by a point.

One of the best changes brought about this year is the introduction of head to head record, score difference, and points scored to separate teams level on points at the end of the group stages before playoffs are considered. Playoff games always disrupt the quarter finals and there can even be a two week delay if 3 teams finished level on points.

Yes the two frees scored by Raymond Galligan were really worth the money to see.
When Killygarry got the last free I was shocked to see a fellow make a short pass been that it was the last kick of the match but I was told after a draw was no good to Killygarry because laken had a superior score difference so yes good way of doing the business.

i hear mullahoran beat denn by 3-10 to 9 points... and that gowna beat belturbet... i think dennman's optimism was based on their seemingly rather lucky win over mullahoran in the league

Yeah Ponger, you are right there. He had a lot of optimism but there was no substance. Dennman should go away and lick his wounds, especially being out of teh championship at teh group stage. Anyway the scores were Mullahoran 3-10 Denn 0-09. Gowna also beat Belturbet by 1-09 to 1-06. That means that Mullahoran and Gowna come out of that group. Mullahoran are showing that they must be up there with the favourites. Even though they hammered Denn, there is still room for improvement. Very ominous indeed. They have a good side blending experience with youth and they are playing well. One question though, how did Mickey Graham not play Enda Reilly on the Cavan Minors this year. The boy is scintillating for the dreadnoughts, he would start on most county minor teams.

Anyone know what way the quarter final draw happens. Is it an open draw or is it seeded on how you finish in your group???

reilly didnt get much time on the minors because he never gave anyone a reason to be picked,seen him a few times for the county and never impressed.mullahoran wont be far from winning it this year,if they get the gaels in the qurter id fancy them to take the gaels.
