735384 richiej,

Yes i agree. Could not see him taking another Ulster county as his sons are still involved with Armagh.

With the lack of news from our own county regarding a new manager i have a feeling we are in for yet another dud and am beginning to worry. In our case no news is bad news usually !!

Things are going fine in the hunt for our new manager and I have no doubt when we get him most will be happy but not all.

Seanoroinn,

You are an enigma Sean !! You are always posting what i would call "half comments" implying that you know something that we don't know but refusing to inform us of what it is. You obviously hear comments from those attending C.B. meetings but have you ever considered the possibility that they might be winding you up ? Either way you always leave the door open to come back on here and say "i knew that ages ago but could not tell you at the time" as i was told in confidence, either that is correct or you are bluffing !! Come on now and prove it, let us know something !!

Slasher the CB are that unorgainsed i really think they have no idea who they want .. There looking foe inspiration again.. Like last time when they used a sports agency.Every other County are planning some even have managers in place like Donegal but we waiting for the right man.. We waiting since 97 for him. He must be here soon!!We will probaly wait until a week before the National League starts then say give him time.. Usual crack....We are just wasting valuable local championship time.. If they have a man in mind well go get him There only 4 teams left in the AllIRELAND unless we gona poach one of them managers well whats the delay??..Most ppl knew TC was in his last year so surely plans were been made. We hav a fulltime secetary havnt we?? Is there even a shortlist drawn up??

Well the scattergun approach is alive and well

firstly the countyboard represents all of us GAA people in the county and need to consider the issue. Every situation is not the same McGuinness in Donegal was an easy choice given his u21 performance(it's a poor choice in my view, exactly the same as the previous manager, but good luck to him). The Sports agency was seen as progressive at the time, if we get someone quickly then you will complain about how rash the decision was so I would say be supportive and when we get the new man be supportive of him too it's easy to critisise!

Cavan_Slasher I don't talk with any members of the county board regarding what goes on at meetings never did for it does not concern me its that simple.
I would say you will find it very difficult to show me a post where I said I knew it ages ago so your post is not accurate. You hear names I hear names we hear names most hear names but I am sure one will have mentioned the person at some stage.
I can tell you right now I have no idea of who the new man will be and I am not sure 99% of the county board know either.
I spoke with one last night and my words were "well any news on our new manager" and the reply was all going to plan but no one yet.

So in a nutshell I am as wise as you today.???

SEAN....What you are correct in sayin is the CB dont even know. Thats nothing new. Are they waiting from direction from Clubs or will it be CB individual officers who will approach someone? Whats the proceedure here? Can Clubs nominate a manager? Or they just expected to ratify a manager nominated by the CB?..Has any form of committee been set up to find the next Manager?.If so does it consist of CB Members or just Club Members?

there has been a committee set up as far as i heard!! i think with the current state of the county scene we need an outsider to come in and sort the whole lot out, too many lad think they are certain picks on the team it needs a total clean out and fresh start!! maybe micky harte might take up the post now tyrone are out...ha!!!

Slasher ..........I really think the clubs need to take a good hard look at themselves and really think about the quality of ppl that they are proposing for positions at the CB convention..There is no way the editor would print what i have to say....TOTAL CLEAROUT NEEDED AND THAT GOES FOR THE FULLTIME PAID OFFICIALS TOO.

Being saying that for years Richie and we will be saying it for many more unless we get it right this time, i am beginning to doubt it though !!

Richiej What I would like to say would not be printed either so not worth even trying for posts are edited too easy but having said that it would seem there are different breeds of moderators on at different times of the day so another try at a different time,
Well you cannot get rid of fulltime employees just for the sake of it and then it is very difficult. If they are complying with their remit well there really is no way they can be removed.
99% now of the County Board officers are nominated by their clubs seconded by someone else and then put to the floor for a vote at the AGM. This is when clubs can do the business but I expect the same in every county they are all but elected before the meeting convenes. Giving up your time free to help in running our County looks like a thankless job so why bother really is it worth it. Sean

Seanoroinn,

There are obviously dominant figures within the County Board i.e. bullies, who need to be got rid of !! They are there too long and always get their way and overlord the ordinary lad who is representing his small club. These are the lads who need to be given gate and who are keeping Cavan football back. Richiej is right when he calls for a complete clear-out !!

I take it you don't read my post for I agree with post that have been made and I stated that the clubs ellect the officers and they can remove them as well its that simple, however a fulltime employee a different story.??

Micko did mention Cavan as one of many of his pursuers on the Miriam show on RTE last Saturday nite. He smiled as he mentioned the breffini county. Time isnt on his side and could he realistically cope with travelling to the breffini every few nights? I think he lives in Waterford full time.
