My God lads Ballinagh, Gowna etc are not county teams, so why should someone who manages a club team be good enough and experienced enough to run a County team. If that happens we will surely be back here in another two years debating the very same issues !! Lets get it done properly this time !!

There is NO ONE within the County experienced enough to manage the County team. We need either someone that has managed sucessful County Teams or played in sucessfull County Teams at the highest level. Only then will the manager get the respect of all players and clubs. A strong minded person thats not afraid to do it his way.....A manager that comands respect..........

pete mc grath would not be a bad choice, well respected, former all ireland winner who is looking to get back into the game after his very public snub by down lat year, he would bring mickey linden with his too probably, is who i would go for first anyway

Canavan would be a good appointment. Players would respect him and want to play for him unlike when TC was there, i.e Cullivan quiting the panel, players going to oxegen last year?? Also look at Kerry. Successful for decades, big county with a small amount of clubs..
To many clubs in Cavan?

Yes Pete McGrath is a good choice, also Sean Boylan is available but i still think peter Canavan is the man. He would bring some much needed buzz to the county !!

Well, the fans choice seems to be leaning towards one of the following,
1. Peter Canavan
2. Pete Mc Grath
3. Sean Boylan
4. Paidi O' Shea
5. Mick O' Dwyer

So please county board, take your pick from one of these, no doubt one of you will be reading this.

The last time I checked I was registered sane. Hopefully that has not changed since. But as I said, Boylan would be a good choice because he commands respect. Now I dont like Meath or their footballers no more than the next cavanman but forget about local rivalries for once, sure some people are calling for banty mc enaney!! Anyway I'd say half, maybe more of the current meath team qualify for cavan. A lot of breifne names on it.

Given the current state of Cavan football we will not be able to attract a high calibre manager from outside the county unless that person is offered a lucrative pay packet. Such an appointment will have no benefit for Cavan football in the long term as they will not have the passion or drive to work with the team and develop it. For these reasons I feel we would be much better served by appointing someone from within the county.

Whoever succeds Tommy Carr I hope they concentrate on the job in hand and not spend half the time working as a radio analyst or giving interviews. Empty vessels make most noise and all that!

Joe Kernan would be a good appointment as county manager but there dosen't seem to be many people on his back after a poor year with galway..Hard to know if he would manage another Ulster team after Armagh??? Maybe the new manager needs to be from outside the county, to come in and pick a whole new panel with no "big reputations" or nothing looming over him...

don't think any new manager will be overburdened with big reputations

Love the way all this big names are being thrown up for the Cavan job. Are ye mad! None of the above would touch cavan unless the wage is high. And then it's for the money not the Cavan football team. I think they will be very lucky to get a local manager because alot of ground work has to be done!!

i think we need to put our faith in a new young manager who has recently retired from inter-county fare. there must be a few budding managers about in our neighbouring counties. what about graham geraghty , oisin mcConville, canavan, people like that. we need a freshness and we need someone who can relate to the players and that they can respect.
