Ballinagh Again

ah syre look, ya cnt blame the players 4 dis 1... apart from the fool who so cynically broke reillys nose, but in the bigger pic, the players cannot be blamed for "gerrygate". and i remember , not that long ago kicking a few points in a tight win against mullahoran or gowna would put a bounty on yer head in the springs on sunday night... so the fighting has always been there. mc derrmot and podge are the only real losers in this case, if their not let play for the county

I think ludar u are being very cynical here ballinagh is small country town who have great pride and passion for gaelic football and are starting to produce some talented players which is great to see and good for football in Cavan, it was also an excellent achievment for them to win the Ulster Championship i don't think there all that bad they may 4-5 supporterd who get over heated at match's and their probably one of the most talented young teams in the county i have agree with millhouse its a bit unfair on these young players not getting the chance to play in this senior championship.
Ludar one question wot has ur club achieved over the last number of years??

D Dude, what other clubs have achieved has no relevance to this thread - and for what would any senior club be jealous of Ballinagh for? Are da Gaels, Mullahorn, Gowna jealous over an Ulster Intermediate, i'd think not - it is not over any form of jealously that i and others feel ballinaghs punishment is deserved

Well boss im just saying that Cavan football is at an all time low and its this way because there are too many people like u involved in it, All il say is Great achivment for Ballinagh we need more Clubs winning things in Ulster we all need to act get all this abuse out of GAA and your bitterness in not helping the situation.

Look D_dude i dont want to see any club being suspended but something had to be done about ballinagh and their "fans". They got their warning and the club did not take action on these guys. To answer your question my club has won plenty at all levels (this isn't about success anyway). Reilly and McDermott will not have their county careers affected at all. I dont dispute that their players are good and are suffering for this but isn't the club supposed to represent the community?

Bottom line is Ballinagh is not a nice place to go watch a football match... Anyone agree??

To b honest guys we all go to a game to enjoy a sporting event no one should b abusing people be it players, refs or any other officials what Ballinagh need to do is pinpoint these idiots who are abusing and causing hassle at football games and send them on their merry way their bringing down the club and the people of ballinagh. They have some good footballers and can do well in years to come but someone needs to rid the game of the abusers they players r putting in loads of their free time and effort into training and playing football and don't deserve abuse from ballinagh supporters or any supporters from other clubs in the county.

so what is the story now with ballinagh does anybody know. Seeing as some people on this website seem to know everything. Are they suspended from league & championship, thus relegated in the championship as they dont fulfil their fixtures ???? Clarity would be appreciated

Have to say, this topic has made interesting reading. From Finea in westmeath so would follow club fbal in cavan to a small extent. appreciate there is gonna be rivalry with local teams but with some of the comments above sounds like pure hatred towards ballinagh. Cant imagine them been that bad, theres always gonna be mouthin with supporters towards each other etc in heat of moment but surely ballinagh is not like going to playing in ibrox.
in relation to that incident, the fans involved should be banned, presume they have been, the players who broke the boys nose shud be banned, maybe a club fine as this is the second incident but no way shud the team be suspensed. obviously decent team, first yr senior shouldnt be relegated without playing cos of few lunatics. i know as a player and as a supporter it's very easy to lose the head, esp with refs but they cannot be assaulted so punish the people who did assualt them. At end of day it's very hard to control someone else, thats why i find it hard to pin point the blame on a chairman or a manager or group of players for the supporters behaviour.

John,
I take everything on board you've said. The reality is this is not an isolated incident. Similar thing happened in All Ireland semi in Navan and that 'fan' was banned and the club got a substantial fine. This was all in relation to a player getting a red card. Only difference being that it was an umpire who pointed out the foul play.

The fine and subsequent warning did not prevent the club from behaving in similar manner. So whats the answer? Obviously a large fine doesn't deter the fans from behaving this way and the club didn't take them in hand. What are you left with?

Finally D_Dude I've played plenty of championship football over the years in two counties so I've broken more than the odd nail if you want to count limbs.... so less of the 'handbags' comments. I thought this was a serious forum. How did the Junior Cert go?

Well i have to say great point John From westmeath ballinagh (Outsider's View) is not like Ibrox there may be a few Lunatics i Just reckon people like Ludar are delighted Ballinagh are suspended and will probably be relagated to the Intermediate championship thats the problem with football in Cavan once ur successful everyone is out to put u down thats we have a poor county team unfortunately. Its unfortunate that this incidient happened but i don't think its fair for a teams first year in the snr championship to b relegated back to the intemediate championship next year.
And Ludar have a sense of humour will ya!! zzzzzz

Okay Somebody Respond.

I posted a message a few weeks back on this topic. yet nobody replied with a definitive answer. Ballinagh are suspended, is that correct ? How long for ?
Who were they due to play in the senior championship?
if they are suspended for 3 months or 6 months whichever & they dont fulfill any championship games, thus they will be automatically be relegated ??? i dont keep track of all the tabloids in the cavan area but has there been any article in the celt or echo etc that has stated that they are suspended for 6 months & will miss the championship. Does any of the wise men i.e Con Cavan, Denn man or Myles have any concrete info they can share. Tom smith you'll notice i left your name out of the equation, as Tom smith & wise in the same sentence just does not happen

Ballinagh have been suspended from competing in all senior competitions for the next 6 months. They will be relegated in the championship and if they finish in the bottom two of the league they will also be relegated from division 1.

Ballinagh looking likely they will be back playing intermediate next year due to not taking part in this years championship, with regards to Division 1 they now have 10 points after 10 games with 3 games left in the league so they should stay up in Division 1 but all depends on results from other games, if they do go down they should come straight back up anyways.

Heard final appeal was last night.

Apparently they in the relegation play-offs - out of senior league - no home games 2 yrs - 6k fine.
