Read the post from Longford. Wake up and realise Cavan football needs major overhaul and major changes in attitude. breifneblue (Cavan) - Posts: 58 - 24/06/2008 16:00:10 37389 Link 0 |
Breffne i agree with you totally there are too many idiots involved in football in our county who cause the bitterness amongest clubs this is an amatuer sport to be enjoyed by all and there are some people bullying and harassing players and officials thus people refusing to play and get involved in the sport. All clubs need to take responsibility for their teams, officials and followers' behaviour. It needs to be ingrained into the GAA from the top down. When a Cavan player crept up behind a Westmeath player, in a challenge game, and broke his jaw with a punch our County Board Chairman went up to the appeal and spoke up on behalf of the player saying it was out of character although he knew he was liable to do the same thing any weekend. He got him off with 1 month's suspension while Paul Galvin now gets 6 months for knocking the book out of the refs hand. We all, clubs and counties, need to take a bit of responsibility. When we applaud the Paul Galvin decision (which was right in my view) we must be prepared to support the same punishment for our club and county players if they transgress. I have been horrified with some of the behaviour of grown-ups at underage games even those in powerful positions within the county setup threatening youngsters playing against their club team. The only reason they do this is they know they can get away with it. It is time for zero tolerance. All clubs should employ a policy that their club members should behave as they would expect other clubs to behave and if they can't they get banned. opa01 (Cavan) - Posts: 540 - 24/06/2008 16:55:38 37463 Link 0 |
Are we mature enough to give some of the offenders names? Their names are going to be in the suspensions list in every paper next week anyway so is it possible to get their names? Im not asking for a full character description. Some thing like: Joe Bloggs 96 weeks, John Smith 12 weeks, etc. Was there anybody from killygarry involved in the fracas at all? I heard one of their players was sent off aswel? If the stories ive heard are true, then the behaviour of the individuals is dispicable and they desreve their punishment, but i think we all know that all these suspensions will be halved when they are appealed. ui know its tough on the players but the county board are right suspending a supporter has no effect he can still go to the games an perhaps do it again. this is the only way they will learn. zero tolerence is the way forward. scooby (Cavan) - Posts: 87 - 24/06/2008 22:42:08 37609 Link 0 |
is it true that gaels are trying to get podge on loan from ballinagh for 6 months, a bit like the larsson saga at utd? chazzreinhold (Cavan) - Posts: 14 - 25/06/2008 05:11:02 37638 Link 0 |
It wouldn't suprise Mr. Pain if Abramovich tried this stunt. It is just a wonder that the word "loan" is used as Mr. Pain reckons Abramovich is all about the buy. Perhaps he will supply Podge with a nice house/apartment, car and woman to make the move complete. Come on lads........ Mr. Pain (Cavan) - Posts: 92 - 25/06/2008 10:50:42 37758 Link 0 |
There's a sense of 'Schadenfreude' about some of these posts. I feel sorry for the Ballinagh players but something needed to give I've had my run-ins with Ballinagh, but I've had run-ins with nearly every club in Cavan. This incident is not good for Ballinagh, its not good for Cavan GAA, its not good for the senior championship, its not good for Ballyhaise or Drumalee and its not good for about 20 players in their footballing prime. mr pain, i think you are a loser. if you knew anything about the WAG situation in Cavan already you would know podge would not need Mr.Abroavitch to buy him a new girlfriend. I think it would be a good idea to keep the supporters a bit better mannered. if they knew their players would leave to go to a great club like cavan gaels they wouldnt want this to happen and might have a bit more manners. Podge would be a great asset to the gaels and lets face it, if any of ye have any intelligence with regard finances, you would know that it would be financially sound to give podge a house or car or both to move to the gaels. on membership sales alone they would get the money back fairly quickly never mind on the increase in jersey sales!! Just throw your mind back to the Beckham transfer to real, didnt take long to recoup the expense from the purchase with the demand for the no.23 jersey!! Bring Podge to the Gaels the yellow submarine has sank!! chazzreinhold (Cavan) - Posts: 14 - 26/06/2008 00:19:13 38242 Link 0 |
Chazzreinhold, you call Mr. Pain a loser. Yes there are a lot of jersey girls around. The rest of your message is just stupid and not funny at all as this has happened with players that have moved to the Gaels before, just without that bull about membership. You clearly have nothing construtive to say so don't be calling Mr. Pain a loser. As they say: point a finger at Mr. Pain and you got three pointing right back at ya. Rant over! im not surprised in there behaviour at all. murrayham (Cavan) - Posts: 182 - 26/06/2008 11:11:28 38356 Link 0 |
Well murrayham there not the only club in Cavan where there is agro their all the same, ballinagh are the intermediate ulster champions wot has ur club won ??? look at the gaels and gowna fighting after a championship game last year and also druma lee fighting at half time in the intermediate final 06 so if any of these situations made the headlines these clubs would also b letting their county down, the may be a few bad eggs associated with Ballinagh but the majority of them are good loyal supporters along with a talented set of decent players, i saw some players at the armagh cavan game abusing the umpires so thats not right either, this sort of thing is happening week in week out in the GAA so u trying to say no other club in cavan ever gets into fiticuffs over a game of football pull the other one!!!! Was at this game and indeed it was not pretty stuff to see a referee being abused, but what club has not got idiots. tomsmith (Cavan) - Posts: 4086 - 29/06/2008 21:37:14 39669 Link 0 |
Tom Smith.... a fowl like a chicken or do you mean a foul??? let me guess, ballinagh should not appeal the suspension and form a super team???? CeltMan (Cavan) - Posts: 101 - 30/06/2008 17:01:17 40407 Link 0 |
Well Tom u may have a point i reckon their could b a lot of jealousey amongest the neighbouring clubs of Ballinagh due their the success they had last season but some of their support need to calm down and learn to enjoy the beautiful game of gaelic football. Pity there not in the senior championship would have been interesting to see how they would have got on!!! D_Dude (Cavan) - Posts: 360 - 30/06/2008 20:38:09 40517 Link 0 |
