Junior B

Castlerahan has had 2 excellent results in this compeition today by easily disposing of Ballinagh and Drumalee. Poor defending in the first half allowed Drumalee to put up 2 goals. The strenght of this Castlerahan team definitly lies in their midfield and attach with the inclusion of a number of senior fringe players. The difficulty will be keeping the likes of Brian Coleman, Enda O'Connell, Nigel Duigan & Shane Tolan from playing senior championship before the end of the junior competition. I would predict a Mullahorn v Castlerahan final at this stage. Mullahorn would have to be favourites based on league form.

Whoever beats Castlerahan in the Junior B will win it.Very impressive from midfield on.Their long range shooting was superb.

Ah, my mistake. The teletext got it wrong so. Says it was Gowna. Forgot about Kingscourt altogether. Surprisingly as they're handy enough too. So it's
Gowna,
Castlerahan,
Mullahoran or Belturbet
Kingscourt or Killygary

Semi Final Results:
Castlerahan 0 14 - Kingscourt 0 07
Denn 0 06 - Belturbet 3 05

This leaves a Castlerahan v Belturbet final. Castlerahan had a nervous first half against Kingscourt shooting 11 wides in the first half leaving a half time score of Castlerahan 0-06 to Kingscourt 0-04. The addition of Nigel Dugnian at half time and some positional changes in the defense made a marked difference to the Castlerahan game. Kingscourt lacked an attacking platform with the only real treat coming from their full forward.

The Denn and Belturbet game was a much tougher affair. Belturbet appeared to be the more capable footballing side with Denn trying to impose a physical game. Neither team looked very impressive and at half time Belturbet lead 1-02 to Denn's 0-04. A high tackle early in the second half lead to Belturbet's best player at wing half forward being sent off for a second yellow card. Denn's full back became the extra man but he oushed too far up the field allowing Belturbet to score 2 goals from a fast forward line.

Definitly a Cstlerahan win in the final

Kingscourt had played the day before in a Div 4 promotion playoff . How ridiculous is that , playing the 2 most important matches of the season within 24 hours.
they had a good win against cuhullains in the div 4 playoff but unfortunately were unable to raise their game against castlerahan. Rahan would prob have won anyway but the match the day before certainly didn't help the Kingscourt boys. Anyone know what caused this fixture pile-up and why one of the games couldn't be re-scheduled.
