Ballyhaise will win out Junior C. Lacken won't be able to use their senior players like they do in the league

Junior B -- Mullahoran

Junior C -- Lavey

Junior D -- Crosserlough, Cavan Gaels or Ballyhaise (these teams keep a few stong players from their 2nd team and keep them for this competition, bit unfair on junior clubs struggling to field teams)

Why wouldn't Lacken have a strong junior league team. Check out their first 12 list in the Cavan GAA handbook. Shane McKiernan's on it and god know's when he played senior football last.

Lacken use no more senior players on their junior than any other team in Cavan, theres nothing wrong with fielding a strong team in order to secure a promotion spot.

I just have to complain about our County Board regarding these championships. We had the first round last wednesday, a full round of league matches on monday and just 2 days later we play a championship quarter-final! Now i expect the usual smart arses to reply with "who cares, it's just junior football!" but the answer is simple. We care. I've been training hard all year and just because i'm not good enough to make my senior team i'm treated like dirt and my championship is run as quickly as possible to get it out of the way. We dont have any county players playing reserve football so what's the hurry? Shame on you County Board!

I have to say that I totally agree with pencil in this respect. I also realise that people are going to say who cares but these people need to realise that without the panel of junior players, the seniors would have poor training sessions due to lack of numbers. I know in our club that without the juniors that we would have very small numbers at training.
The county board need to show some more respect for us perceived lesser players. Not that long ago I heard of a high'ish official in the county board refer to this grade of football as for lads who should be retired and a pub team - what a disgrace!
To compound this lack of respect to the lower divisions, we had to play not just on a bank holiday Monday (to screw up any weekend plans we may have had) but the fact that the county board decided to put these games on at exactly the same time that the biggest game of the All Ireland series this year to date was being played at 2pm. This meant that the 30+ players, managers & team officials, the referee and the small number of loyal supporters could not watch Kerry and Dublin. Multiply this across the county and it means that the Co Board showed this lack of respect for a few hundred people.
Where else would this happen? I have had a quick look at Aertel for other Ulster Counties and none had games at this time!!!

Totally agree. Its a disgrace that lads have to play 2 matches within 24 hours especially when its championship.
It would never happen in a Senior setup and it is a complete lack of respect from the CB.
Its the exact same as playing a full round of senior league fixtures this Friday and Championship on Sunday.
Imagine the up roar then.

I agree lads totally, It'll never change i reckon, if you made this complaint in front of the next county meeting they would surely shrug there shoulders and move quickly onto the next subject, and the day of junior football being made up of older senior players that are pass it is gone, the average age of any junior team in the county i bet is;nt over 25 ,this means that there is lots of time for young lads to develop their skills and work there way on to the senior team.I know in my club the seniors always have priority throughout the year even if the junior team is in a championship quater final and the seniors are preparing for another league game,,, thought it was only in our club but after reading the above its obviously happens throughout the county, no wonder the standard of football is bad in cavan and we have a poor county team, i'm sure it has a knock-on effect down the line somewhere lads.

Any Predictions?

BALLYHAISE, good combination of their excellant minors and few experienced heads
Killinkere, have more strenght in dept at this level than Laragh
Bailieboro, should be good game but going on results the first round and home adv will favor bailie
Lacken, shercock weaker this year due to guys missing of senior team, should be another home win
