I noticed in the paper that the development squad wear a mainly black jersey with a bit of blue, whos bright idea was that?? I may be a traditionalist but are Cavan colours not blue and white? rexbanner10 (Cavan) - Posts: 396 - 15/07/2009 23:27:40 347768 Link 0 |

you are obviously well informed on how things work!! they are not blue and white because they are not a county cavan team. its to keep the young fellas heads out of their ***** rather than giving them the full cavan jersey. its only development football which is extra coching and development between club and county. you have to earn the real thing dagaa (Cavan) - Posts: 23 - 15/07/2009 23:43:31 347798 Link 0 |
rexbanner10, to answer your question seriously, the idea behind it is so that when a young lad makes the U16 or u15 squad, he still has not earned a real cavan jersey. Its a small things but mentally it might keep them focused on earning their first real Cavan jersey when they become minors. I quite like the idea. onthesquare (Cavan) - Posts: 76 - 16/07/2009 00:05:30 347844 Link 0 |
Supposedly the reasoning behind the colour choice was that those that made the underage development squads would realise that they were not on a cavan county team but instead exactly what they were lining out on - a development squad. Cavan are the worst team in Ireland apart from London and even if they were wearing Kerry jerseys they would be hammered by minnows like Antrim inniskeenbull (Monaghan) - Posts: 682 - 21/07/2009 17:36:40 355680 Link 0 |

Antrim destroyed Cavan in the semi final and Cavan struggled past a very poor Fermanagh team in the quater final and only two Cavan players would get starting with Monaghan and they are James Reilly and Seanie Johnston inniskeenbull (Monaghan) - Posts: 682 - 21/07/2009 20:16:11 355898 Link 0 |
Seanie Johnston instead of who, Antrim and Wicklow showed players how to stop him and they made it look very easy don't you think??? The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4602 - 21/07/2009 23:32:52 356190 Link 0 |

I'm not sure how it worked as i don't play for either the gaels or kingscourt but i think it is simply a toss to decide who wears their own colours. We wore these jerseys earlier this evening in a u14 development squad challenge game, and surely enuf.. we won =] . Seanorinn.. I think i seen you there footballmaan (Cavan) - Posts: 114 - 22/07/2009 22:08:30 357582 Link 0 |
