i think the corner back you are referring to was trevor neville who started the game at corner forward no. 13
and played corner back in the second half he took balls off the goal line when macs were under pressure, had a good game.
players did't seem to be able to judge the bounce of the ball, with the pitch hard as concrete, but this applied to both teams letting the ball bounce over them.

They'll get hammered in the All Britain if they meet the champs of Scotland, Yorks, Lancs or London. Would be closer matched with the champs of Gloucs and Herts. As for playing Trevor at full back thats ridiculous!

Was the young corner back not that Gilbride lad? He had a decent game but macs would be crazy to move him into full back for all brittain! Not enough experience.

The full back line was David Lyons, Conor O'Riordan, Liam Gilbride. conor got moved off cuffe after he got booked and mcglade went back to mark cuffe. i think trevor went back to half back after Moriarty went off injured

dowchabiy & tommyg, the pair of you go on about Macs as if they are boxers, not footballers.
Referee needed eyes in the back of his head for all the off the ball stuff that went on,Macs gave as good as they got, after all it is a mans game we are playing.

All Britian

Just seen the draw macs would have wanted to stay away from scotland, london and lancs. Would have given them a chance against any of the other counties but scotland will be a big side with decent footballers, they'll need to make the most of every chance and hope thats the scots have an off day, just like that stocky o riordan found in the final against cuffe there are some players who can actually move, lyons may also be found out, if danny harkin had a bit more fitness about him last week he could really have done some real damage. They'll identify c hayden and bennett as the two danger men and get their best men on them. macs could do with getting a gaelic goalkeeper in as well as that guy they have seems like a dodgy soccer keeper.

Instead of people being negative towards Macs and moaning about them our clubs should start to aspire to be run like them. I'm not a Macs man and don't like a number of them but i'll still show them respect how many senior championships have they won and they still come back each year and they have a number of quality young players such as the Gilbride brothers, Conal Dowling, young McAvoy, the Checkett brothers etc coming through that the rest of us will continue to struggle until we get our acts together. Casements did it a few years ago and now need to rebuild, Mitchels are sorting themselves out again developing good young players such as Duffy, Harkin and Cooney and reaching the Intermediate final and indeed their Ladies have just reached the All Britian final, Masters have been in this year's final and are league leaders so they have progressed but yet still get people slatting them. The negativity and at times backward thinking in Warwickshire really is astounding at times. My own club Eireann Go Brath need to really take a step back and rethink our own structures instead of coming on here and mouthing off about other clubs, we have as much underage talent as any other club yet will ruin these players if we don't look after them properly and indeed will always be the underachievers of Warwickshire, claiming to have the best players and yet nothing to show for it. I was at the U16 semi v Casements they had over 30 people there including around 10 of their senior players supporting them we had 6 people not good enough. The time for us to sort ourselves out is coming we don't need to do it here, we don't need people like egbhardcore anymore. Change is inevitable, progression is optional. I look forward to our AGM which is the place for us to sort out our club not here. Mac An Bheatha.

anyone like to comment on the number of players transferred from Ireland to u.k clubs this year.
how many came to warwickshire .

at the beginning of sept. croke park have stated over 400 transfers have gone through, by the end of the year it is likely
to be in excess of 500. most clubs seem reluctant to say how many new players have transferred in.

i know michells have nine at present with a possible further three coming, this seems to be down to the high profile of the senior
hurling team and their representation on the county hurling team, getting exposure in Ireland over the last two years and attracting players.

Any thoughts on this weeks fixtures??

Masters can secure the SFL with a win at EGB who are playing there first game for 3 months. I expect Masters to win easily enough and cap a tremendous year for the Coventry lads.

Saturday 26th september in PNH under 16 county final & league final (double header) Sean McDermotts v Roger Casements, throw in at 4pm.Should be an excellent game of football between two unbeaten sides this season.
Winner of this game goes onto play in the all britain c`ship next weekend.
Would be nice to see a decent crowd out there to show an interest in the underage in the county.
Junior c`ship final Macs v St.Chads,Macs to win by 8 or 9 points, Fullen Gaels to surprise Mitchells & win by 3 or 4 points,Brendans to beat NP by 4 or 5 points.FM to take league title after beating EGB handy, thats if they even bother to field.

As far as i am aware the SFL league game in Erdington has been postponed and a Coventry select (casements/masters/finbarrs) are playing EGB for a memorial cup.

lmo,i wasn`t questioning anything about the transfers, simply asking as to why they aren`t on the gaa transfer list. I am sure everything is legal & above aboard within. your club.
As for Sharkey didn`t realise that he had transfered out of the county as he wasn`t away that long.

I think the interesting point on these transfers is where the majority seem to have gone. most transferred to london based clubs who are going through their own problems at this point in time.
however 14 players up to end of august transferred to john michells lancashire, i believe this will a huge effect on the destination of the club championshin in future years as most appear to come from senior clubs in Ireland, to an already strong set up here. i accept lmo's figures of 9 to michells in birmingham, 6 players transferred to st barnabus. with the one to four masters and macs and casements. there may be others in the pipeline i am not aware of.
is this down to available employment in the midlands ?
are we active enough in promoting warwickshire clubs and their history to players who are considering moving to th uk ?
I think this should be done through the various county forums listed on the hogan stand and any other means to raise the profile of warwickshire as a destination.
best of luck to teams taking part in games at pnh this weekend.

go along on sat and support underage who have a blitz and the two teams playing in the juvenile county final, they are a credit to both clubs for the years of hard work done with underage.
also to the senior hurlers of michells in county final on sun at 4p.m.

i don't know if bergin played in the championship at home this year,
but a couple of years back a prominent player in intermediate football, transferred to a senior club in dublin after playing in the intermediate championship.
when this team reached the latter stages of the senior championship, the opposition objected to him on the grounds that he played championship football with two different clubs in the same year.
the result of objection was they are considered two different championships and the objection was lost, so i see no reason why if he played senior football
this year that john bergin cannot play.
