I would start of with this panel of 53 and cut it down as time goes on...... dalboy (Cavan) - Posts: 56 - 16/09/2008 17:14:05 101079 Link 0 |
yes but i wouldnt have the lads that have just came out of the minor set up. they are a bit too young i would give them a year or so to build there way up. i would also have barry cusack from castlerahan on that panel he is a very good no nonsence full back and his making a name for himself with fine performances cavan man (Cavan) - Posts: 141 - 16/09/2008 18:37:53 101145 Link 0 |
That is a good squad of players, good mix of youth and fresh faces can only be good for the team. jackblack5 (Cavan) - Posts: 26 - 18/09/2008 15:48:57 102616 Link 0 |
I would go through each club and try and pick players from there, of course some clubs wont have anyone good enough. Heres my estimate of the players at each club although im sure ive missed some players and maybe even some clubs. Dont give out, just add to the list, or some constructive critisism. No need to get nark because i left someone from your club out. Brefni Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 107 - 18/09/2008 17:48:03 102720 Link 0 |
Jesus breffni lad if tommy carr listened to you we would go far. Dalboy named out 53 players for a panel and i would agree with all of them players, you just named players who have been on senior pael or who were under 21. There is a few good players in Junior football like mark johnston, ronan reilly, arron duignan you didnt bother with. You have Gaynor on it to he has done nothing the last two years mcdermot or niall reilly would be better. Sean higgins is a sub with the gaels. Thats a rough estimate of 60 players in the county, might of missed one or two, correct me if im wrong. babel (Cavan) - Posts: 2 - 19/09/2008 08:05:43 102911 Link 0 |
In all honesty lads its going to take at least 3-5 years at least before Cavan are contesting Ulster so what we need to do with the current county set up is out with the old and in with the new and start a fresh. D_Dude (Cavan) - Posts: 360 - 19/09/2008 12:23:19 103137 Link 0 |
lads you seem to be naming the same faces that have played in the cavan shirt for the last number of years.. My question is, whats going to be different this time?? wasp (Cavan) - Posts: 7 - 19/09/2008 14:54:32 103325 Link 0 |

Thats very constructive there Mourinhio. If its so predictable why dont you give us a panel that would give us all a shock? I think i went through every club in the county and thats the pick of the players. The only way a Cavan panel wouldnt be predictable is if i picked bad players. Who have i missed? Go on there, give us your panel, and shock me please. Brefni Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 107 - 19/09/2008 16:08:31 103387 Link 0 |
Brefni Lad keep your head on your shoulders for cripes sake!! In response to your message I did not say that your panel in particular was predictable but the thread as a whole.. I think we should leave the panel picking to Tommy Carr and his selectors in the future. Mourinhio (Cavan) - Posts: 25 - 19/09/2008 16:35:47 103411 Link 0 |
Here is my suggestion for the cavan panel: jimmyjohnjoe1 (Cavan) - Posts: 13 - 21/09/2008 15:16:19 103933 Link 0 |
jimmyjohnjoe1 - No-one from redhills??Surely Dunne is worth a shot, possibly Gumley and Brides (even though he doesn't play for Redhills anymore). And Minagh is a shoe in in a few years. wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1734 - 21/09/2008 18:02:38 103956 Link 0 |
Gareth "Nestie" Smith is a Cavan Man playing with Oliver Plunketts.. Surely Carr will know about him.. if he doesn't get a shot with new Dublin Management he should surly get a shot with Cavan.. sure (Cavan) - Posts: 43 - 21/09/2008 23:42:00 104092 Link 0 |
