Kilmacud Crokes' Ben Shovlin celebrates

Did he mean it or not?

Only Ben Shovlin can confirm the answer to that question after his unique goal for Kilmacud Crokes helped the Dublin champions to victory over Wolfe Tones in today’s Leinster club SFC quarter-final in Navan.

Crokes had been leading by 0-3 to 0-1 after 14 minutes at Pairc Tailteann when Hugh Kenny’s layoff to an on rushing Shovlin forced a save from Cian Farnan in the Tones’ goal only for Shovlin to heel in the rebound whilst on the ground with his back to goal.

He wheeled away in celebration like a man who meant and Kilmacud went on to win the game by 1-13 to 1-9.

On seeing a replay of the goal afterwards, Crokes manager Robbie Brennan said: "Acrobatics! It was a huge score. It was important for us because it gave us a good foothold in the game. We were under pressure then after that because we slacked off a bit."

We'll let you be the judge...
