Crazy Decision Regarding Under 20 Football Final - 8 Like(s)

Replying To KillingFields:  "If you say that about this competition and its just one game. then you could say it about other competitions. Its not unfair on them. They will share the all ireland title for the year..."
Seriously Killingfields? Sharing an all ireland title......i'd rather be knocked out in the first round. How can you say its not unfair on them?

Crazy Decision Regarding Under 20 Football Final - 5 Like(s)

Replying To KillingFields:  "What do you do as alternative? You wont have games for next few weeks. The next years squads should then be training/prepping for their games/competition. Its perfectly fair. They both get the title. They wont have lost. You cant play the game so what else would you do?"
I'm not even going to try and have a debate with you KillingFields. A waste of time because you'll never admit you're wrong. Every poster here knows that you're a rugby man just trying to rise GAA fans.

New Rules For Gaelic Football - 3 Like(s)

Replying To BostonGuy:  "Nope watched the full championship, saw Dublin hammer everyone in sight, saw two semi's that were over after 15 minutes. Agree there were matches in the past that teams got hammered but not 3 successive Leinster finals in a row. Next year how many people will go to a Leinster final? As for me being nostalgic, nope I'm a realist, if you are in sport your are in the entertainment business whether you like it or not. Companies that sponsor teams that get beaten by 22 points will stop sponsoring as they want to protect their brand. TV will stop showing games or people just wont bother watching, advertisers will look elsewhere. Rule changes can help with evolving the game, for example square balls stopped half the opposition from killing the GK, and hand passed goals bans stopped the likes of Eoin Liston just hand passing every ball over the bar or in the net. Hurling penalty changes stopped a player from lifting a ball into the 15 yard line and nearly killing a person with a 100mph ball, single goalie pushed the odds in favor of the striker of the ball. As for a a couple of bad games, get real football has been awful for almost two decades since the Jim McGuiness days of Donegal, you can point to a couple of epic encounters but a single swallow does not make a Summer."
Have a look at the Donegal Dublin 2014 semi final and explain how Jim McGuinness ruined football? Such a statement.

Mark O Sullivan Ex Cork Player Interview - 3 Like(s)
In my opinion the game is way better to watch now than it was 20 years ago. You look at the old matches and you pull your hair out- your team wins the ball and your driving out of defence do you 1. Slip a simple handpass or outside of the boot bounce pass to the free man out on the wing and support them by hard running up the field or 2. Put the laces through it and drive it into the square where it will be turned over 9 times out of 10. We'll go with option 2. But its ok they'll give it straight back to us.

Replying To Latte:  "Caulry seemed miles out of their depth based on the scoreline coming from that game. They're miles out of their depth at Senior I think. Athlone should beat them and they'll struggle in a relegation play off."
Latte you seem to love the term 'miles out of their depth' . Easy to say teams are miles out of their depth when a seasoned senior team like Garrycastle get momentum. I wouldn't bet on Athlone getting a handy game against a good young Caulry team. Watch this space.

Meath V Dublin Leinster Final. - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Meathball:  "Dublin were very good, Westmeath & Laois are worse teams than Meath but they set up much better against Dublin, tactics by McEntee were brutal, I have seen better kickout strategy at U14. He has to go, everyone was saying we are improving, but we were beaten by more than last year. Team selection was wrong tonight. I hope Andy does the honourable thing and steps down without delay. No matter who takes over cannot do any worse. There are great players there and they deserve better."
Going on tonight I would disagree that Westmeath and Laois are worse teams than Meath you are away with the fairies.

Ye hard to make sense of it. There are several other things that are causing the spread of covid way more than playing football and hurling outdoors. GAA is one of the few things left at present in rural Ireland lifting the spirits of both young and old. Are the posters on here calling for gaa activity to cease from urban area where theres loads of other thingst o do or maybe there clubs are struggling in championship and it would save them from relegation if it was all called off? Genuinely not sure why they're pushing to stop gaa.

Replying To KillingFields:  "Professional players are getting paid. It is their job. GAA is voluntary ridiculous comparison. Terrible not to let a lad training all the time not experience winning or loosing with his team. Makes no sense for any angle. gatha (Kilkenny) - Posts: 158 - 16/11/2020 20:53:34How is it a ridiculous comparison? That its their job means they even more should be allowed in as theyre employees and it isnt terrible. Its just part and parcel of life in a time where thousands have died. If you are not needed to let game take place then you dont travel Yes the media are important to transmit the ganesbut people who are not working are left in and players are not. Ex players that write newspaper columns should not be left in ahead of panel members. Also do you need all the reporters. Can they not write a report on the game from TV.the government made the rules but many are bending the rules. For example the Sunday fame pundits do Not need to attend the fame unless they are needed for the live programme. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 481 - 16/11/2020 21:11:26 The ex players are journalists and the column writers get their column material from attending games in person. they cant write them without being at games in person. Each reporter is for a different organisation. By all means have 26 players of a squad and 1/2 extra in case a players pulls up injured in warm up to allow you have a full bench but if you say let all these players in where do you stop? Who else do you let in? Its fair to everyone. You are named in squad you can attend. If not you watch at home as if not involved in the game you are making a journey that isnt necessary in a time when we should be restricting movements"
Why can't ex players write their column without being at the game in person?

Good win for Galway. Watched it on tv and listened to John Mullane on the radio afterwards raving about how good a game it was. Maybe its just me but i actually thought it was a poor enough game, very stop start and James Owens didnt help- blew for everything.

The Corona Virus And Possible Effects To GAA Matches - 1 Like(s)

Replying To football first:  "A number of clubs seem to be taking the decision to lockdown, even in cases where there is no positive case (just a suspected case). This seems to be unnecessary, and could make the final stages of various championships very chaotic. While I completely accept the we need to take all the necessary precautions, shutting down before there is a positive case seems to be an over-reaction. Thoughts?"
Totally agree.

Westmeath V Kildare - 1 Like(s)

Replying To Concerned_Supp:  "Not much talk about the other Leinster SFC semi-final on Sunday. Westmeath have scored 3-45 in two games, against Cork and Laois, which is impressive. Ray Connellan, John Heslin and Ger Egan as good as you get in the country. Kildare weren't overly impressive in beating Offaly and seem to have disciplinary issues. Two red cards in their last few games and need to be winning here if they are serious about staying in Division 1 next year."
Heslin, Egan, Ronan O'Toole all top class. Really don't understand all the fuss about Connellan. Lucky to still be starting after league performances and Laois game imo.
