Replying To Claretandblue: "Invest the money required? Have you been to convention ever? Have you any idea of our financial situation? S and C programmes are laudable but extremely costly. Check out price for wolfhound membership, it's far and away most expensive gym in area, obviously well regarded by members and popular but costly. We don't have a sugar daddy like Mulryan in Roscommon or Glennon's in Longford, that's the reality, look at apathy towards tickets for fundraising draw, it's not for the county board but for future generations and yet badly supported, not easy to hear but we are poor supporters of county teams and poor supporters financially" Here we go again..... Mouthing about support. Not everyone has €100 to spend on 1 chance to win 1 prize. You need to realize that €100 can be a big pill for some to swallow. Look at Oosch, RKings or McKinney competitions pages, they can sell 50,000-60,000 €20 tickets in 3-4 days when they have a house draw and have chances of other prizes aswell. Roscommon sell a power of tickets to the diaspora in UK and States. Roscommons last draw had 61% of sales outside the county.
Why is my Facebook page not being bombarded with Bressie or Niall Horan or other local celebrities selling the hell out of it?? There was a marketing team hired to do this yet not seeing much drive for it. I'm getting at least triple the amount of ads for Tipperarys draw on my timeline.

Falling Football Attendances - 5 Like(s)
And the solution? A price increase HAHAHAHAHA. The Leinster football final 2017 66,734, 2018 it was just 41,728. A whopping 37% drop. The over investment in the 00's in Dublin football to bring them back to a prosperous state has backfired, majorly. A lot of Dublin supporters are not bothered about Dublin now because they are whitewashing the opposition. Who wants to fork out money on tickets, travel, food only to watch a completely lobsided game. Exactly, nobody!

Dublin v Mayo. Who will win the 2017 All Ireland football final? - 5 Like(s)
Is anyone else getting fed up with Cillian O'Connors antics? Every time the ref took out the book for a Mayo player O'Connor was in on top of him soft talking him patting him on the arm. I didn't see Cluxton coming running out every time the book was produced to a Dublin player to chat to Joe McQuillan. Every game this year he's been at it trying to influence referees. He'd be more in his line concentrating on his own game than getting involved in that carry on.

Replying To mickcunningham: "No change in venue" It was never going to be moved. Imagine a full house in Cusack park. Now think about all the money local businesses gave to county board the last few months supporting draws and the sponsorship of prizes. Then a big game comes to town the money that brings back to those businesses. If you took it away you would take away the good will from those businesses. They depend on days like that. There has been enough doom and gloom with family businesses closing in town, they deserve it.

Replying To jobber: "Are you for real. Galway were slightly the better team no more no less. But any criticism against WH players on here is seen as sacrilige but thats a losers viewpoint and this team with huge potential will never reach that of we live in this delusion." Slightly better? Here's some facts. Galway won 67% of their own kickouts and 54% of Westmeaths. That's a mountain of lost possession. Conroy at 37 kicked 5 points. How much did our midfield kick? 2 points between them. Galways starting full forward line kicked 2-9 with 2-8 from play. Our inside forwards kicked 8 points, 5 of those from frees. We were outgunned simple as. We have a good young team that needs to be playing league football at a higher level. We need to be playing the Galways and Monaghans and Dublins more often to get that level. I hope we can lift it against Monaghan and get to a quarter final. It has been an incredible year and a quarter final would be the cherry on top.

Mayo vs Roscommon - 4 Like(s)
Replying To cluichethar: "Black card has to go The refs have no idea when to use it Roscommon should have 2 in the first half and 1 in the second AOS had a bad game compounded by the refs refusal to give him frees when he's been mugged But wouldn't expect anything else from McQuillan Any idea on the replay date and venue" What about Cillian O Connor "shouldering" a Roscommon player to the head? Or the free that should never have been where Cillian tried to pull back the defender who cleared the ball and when they tangled up Cillian falls to the ground getting a soft free? Or in the first half when he struck Niall McInerney on the side of the head after the ball was played away by McInerney? Your very quick to point out when your wronged, but Mayo, and particularly Cillian gets away with a lot of petty s*#te off the ball.

Laois Westmeath and Kildare all bet dublin when they made the breakthrough" Aren't much behind? Meath beat Dublin, Kerry and Galway last year in the All Ireland. We couldn't beat Limerick or Wicklow last year in the Tailteann. We couldn't beat Wexford when the chips were down in the league this year barely scraped over Sligo, lost poorly to Laois. We are worlds apart.

Thank you Mark McHugh, Emmet McDonnell, Jamie Gonoud and rest of the management team, and the players from one to 35 for the commitment they gave yesterday. You gave me and the thousands in the stadium and watching at home the best of days we have ever seen. To do it in the fashion they did was incredible. To go 5 down and swing to 4 up then go behind with a minute to go. What can one say about Senan Baker the coolest of heads on the field sailed up the wing and slotted the equaliser of as if he was playing in Croke park the last 10 years. Kevin O'Sullivan was incredible transitioning the ball from half back to half forward. Matty Whittaker caused all sorts of problems and took some fantastic scores. The commitment at midfield to break ball and win it was unreal in that 3rd quarter of normal time and the whole of extra time. Tadgh Baker has some engine up and down the pitch was brilliant in lead up to Heslins 2 pointer. As for Heslin what an impact won couple of kickouts scored inspirational 2 pointer with the left so happy he got his medal. This was special and hopefully the lads can recuperate over next day or two and regroup and get geared up for Cavan. Anyone know how Danny Scahill is?

Well done to each and every player and backroom staff. To back up the Meath performance with such another tenacious and hardened display was phenomenal. Danny Scahill and Charlie Drumm were brilliant again. The amount of in the face tackling and on the edge defending hasn't been seen like that for years in Westmeath. McHugh has finally brought his brand of football to life with thus team. Great credit to Sam McCartan Brandon Kelly Ray Connellan and Brian Cooney for all stepping up in the absence of Luke Loughlin. Great leadership. Every man played for the man beside him. Pride has been well and truly restored in the county. 3 more games guaranteed and some more hair raising heart stopping moments to come. Looking forward to the coming weeks with underage improving and seniors on the crest of a wave. Hopefully Whittaker and Sam McCartan can get themselves right for the tests ahead.

Replying To Mooo: "Are westmeath in the sam maguire next year or do they have to get to a lenister final again what is the situation???????," Westmeath have to win Division 3 and hope nobody behind them gets to a provincial final or Westmeath will need to get to Leinster final. Down lost out this year because Westmeath got to Leinster final.
On a side not good luck to Matty Whittaker. Apparently he had surgery this week to sort out the ankle injury that plagued him for the last 4 games. May he have a speedy recovery.

New Senior Manager - 3 Like(s)
Replying To Paddyfla19: "Absolutely shocking, if this is true. The bottom of the barrel stuff. Leahy, Mangan, Coffey I'm sure would be interested if approached. At lest they have achieved something as managers and there locals. The two mentioned would no influence to many lads back next year. Our county poor have once again let our team down." I think its time now the players stood up and start making demands for what they want and need. Why go for 2 candidates from outside who have poor records and who know nothing of the Westmeath setup. Jack Cooney, Alan Mangan, Martin Flanagan, Tom Coffey, Eammon Gallagher, John Keane, Peter Leahy, so many from within and we go out and scrape the bottom of the barrel. Its a disgrace.

All good things unfortunately come to an end. Yesterday, what could be considered a makeshift team left everything on the field. Ray Connellan not starting, Matthew Whittaker carrying an ankle injury, Scahill not starting, changing goalkeeper, it was always going to be an uphill battle. Whittaker was superb in the first half but really felt he was done by half time as he was hobbling at times on the foot. Unfortunately as the body gave up he got badly caught for 2 turnovers in second half.
Monaghan took some great scores particularly in second half. Really felt in first half Westmeath got into good shooting positions but were afraid to take it on and instead recycled a bit more than needed. Monaghan just took the shots on.
The county board need to move quickly and talk to Mark McHugh and ratify him. Let him, Emmet and his backroom team take in as many club games as possible to add to this fantastic panel of players for next season.

Dublin v Mayo. Who will win the 2017 All Ireland football final? - 2 Like(s)
Replying To TheFlaker: "This rubbish again from both fans, only seeing what they want to see. McMahon and Cooper should have walked for their constant fouling off the ball if that's the case. Keegan is such an easy target it's a joke at this stage. He puts the best players in the country in his pocket and the only thing people from the opposing county can say is constantly fouling. He isn't, and you are lying if you say that statement. You can't constantly foul throughout a game in a position that he plays. Same rubbish was said last year. I watched them closely on Sunday as I did last year when he marked Connolly. He literally stands so close to them no matter where they run they aren't even a short handpass option. Does he foul them during the game. Yep probably 3 or 4 times. Same as they do to him. People only see what they want to see." Wow rubbish from both sets of supporters yet what you seen and didn't see is gospel? What about AOS 30 seconds into second half? Black card all day. Cillian O'Connor constantly body checking Dublin players off the ball trying to stop their runs, and constantly badgering the referee, at one stage the ref had to tell him to shut up and go away. Mayo players are all angels in your eyes and the Dublin players are cynical. Is that it? That's your slant?

Finally the county board have started a draw people can get behind. A weekly draw at five quid an entry with a minimum jackpot guaranteed and weekly prizes outside of the jackpot. Well done on finally coming up with something that doesn't demand a huge upfront entry fee.

Replying To Wmeath2: "James Dolan 2 goal possibly saving Cribbins job. Losing against Louth and 14 man Carlow in 4 days would have been a disaster, O'byrne cup or not!!!" To suggest if we lost 2 games in a row in the O'Byrne cup would have cost Cribbin his job is laughable. The O'Byrne cup is a preseason cobweb blowing exercise where managers try out new players. Would Jim Gavin lose his job if Dublin lost 2 games in it?? I never heard such trash
