Slevins Coaches Senior A  Hurling Championship - Round 5

Lough Lene Gaels................3.14 (23)

Castletown Geoghegan.......2.19 (26)

Lough Lene Gaels could not make up for a very underwhelming opening quarter performance in this Round 5 fixture of the Slevins Coaches Senior A Hurling Championship, going down to a two points defeat at Mullingar's St Loman's GFC grounds last Sunday afternoon, September 10th.

There were regular updates from TEG Cusack Park, where Raharney and Clonkill were engaged in another Round 5 fixture of the S.A.H.C, in what was a Hurling "Super Sunday" of a sort!

Trailing 2.04 to 0.03 midway through the first half, a deficit that actually increased a one stage to nine points for a time thereafter, Lough Lene Gaels rallied to a degree in the second quarter of play.

Lough Lene Gaels though still trailed Castletown Geoghegan on a 2.09 to 1.06 scoreline at half time.

By the midway point of the second half, Lough Lene Gaels had come mourned into contention, trailing the Black and Ambers on a 2.14 to 2.10 scoreline.

The closing quarter of this fixture was very competitive, Lough Lene Gaels coming up short by a margin of two points, Castletown Geoghegan the match winners.

The Purple and Golds though, had the consolation of Raharney's win versus Clonkill ensuring qualification for Lough Lene Gaels to contest a semi final fixture
