Kerry star James O'Donoghue says he feels rejuvenated heading into this summer's All-Ireland senior football championship.

The Kingdom open their Munster title defence this Sunday afternoon against Clare in Killarney and O'Donoghue, who turns 28 next month, says he is raring to go after a couple of injury-plagued summers.

"I'm happy enough with it because I feel like I'm 22 again," O'Donoghue told Off The Ball. "I know it sounds messed up but it's like I've come in and I'm not sure about where I am in the panel, in the team. I got those insecurities kind of again that drive you.

"They give you way more. And I think it's a nice way to be and then obviously you still have the confidence you've got from before that you can get back.

"But about injuries, you can't be the same player again. You have to be different and be better."
