Tyrone will play Kerry in the All-Ireland minor football championship final for the first time since 2004 after both sides advanced in their respective semi-final clashes this afternoon.
Tyrone were 2-12 to 1-8 winners over Roscommon at Kingspan Breffni, where Joel Kerr and Peter Colton bagged the first-half goals for the Ulster champions.
The scoreboard read 0-5 apiece when Seamus Hussey smashed in the first goal of the game for Roscommon in the 25th minute, but the Red Hands responded in the best possible fashion with back-to-back majors which would send them towards a 2-6 to 1-5 interval lead.

The double blow served to knock the stuffing out of the Rossies, as they were held to just three points after the change of ends while Gerard Donnelly’s lads ensured their final place with the help of scores from Eoin Long, Thomas Meenan and Cathal Farley down the home stretch.
In Ennis, Kerry came from behind at half-time and were made to see off Mayo by 1-19 to 3-10 late on to progress into their first Tom Markham Cup decider in five years.
Cian May’s goal surged the Westerners 1-1 to 0-2 in front in the 11th minute and, while Kerry would go ahead through Maidhc Ó Sé’s goal 10 minutes later, a Dara Flanagan penalty helped the Connacht runners up to hold a 2-5 to 1-7 lead at half-time.

Two-pointers from Ben Kelliher and Kevin Griffin saw the Kingdom commencing the second-half in impressive fashion and they’d stretch their lead out to five prior to Flanagan and Conor Hession (free) points being backed up by an Oran Murphy goal in the 47th minute.
Hession’s point from play nudged Mayo in front two minutes later and, after Kelliher saw a point erased by Ben Holmes, Wayne Quillinan’s lads were able to come up with a big finish which saw scores from Gearoid White, Nick Lacey and Kelliher (two-point free) sealing their place in the final on Saturday week, July 5th.
