Former Mayo star Andy Moran scored 3-3 in his final club game for Ballaghaderreen yesterday as they avoided relegation in the county senior football championship.
Ballaghaderreen defeated Davitts 6-8 to 2-8 to secure their safety, with Moran bagging a hat-trick of goals to help fire them to the crucial win.
Footballer of the Year in 2017, Moran is currently managing Leitrim’s senior footballers and won senior titles with Ballaghaderreen in 2008 and 2012.
The 38-year-old signed off on a positive note with his club yesterday by helping them retain their status in the Mayo’s topflight championship for 2023.
