Replying To allstars23:  "I would agree but you'll see the best of Ian Burke during the summer months. He will make the likes of Shane & damo better players when they play together"
He won't be in the team if everyone is fit. He is an inside forward and can't play anywhere else. Has he shown anything lately to suggest he is a better option in there than Rob Finnerty?

Replying To SaffronDon:  "He's an injured member of their squad. Do you want them to just dismiss everyone from the panel that gets injured? Or kit them out when they clearly aren't fit to play?"
I think if you aren't in the 26 you're not on the panel and you have no place on the line or on the pitch. I think he was there as a supporter.

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "No. The reason why the tickets sold so quickly Id say is because it's an indoor venue and spectators can watch the game in warmth and comfort. Would there be any greater demand to go see the game (which is no more than a pre-season warm-up) if it was at an outdoor venue? I doubt it."
The reason why the tickets sold so quickly is because people are aware of the limited supply. You would get more than 1,500 at this game outdoors, no question.

He wasn't fouled. He fell backwards. We can all see how bad he is. His team mates can too. It's not fair to the man to keep picking him.

Is this a serious comment? Ray Darcy would get 400 bags off the BBC?

Replying To BostonGuy:  "I have never heard such a stupid comment in a long time, we are not back in the 1930's the game has moved on from the "hard man" mentality, who's sole purpose was to maim the best players on the opposition. Im all for physicality in a game, even playing on the edge is fine but in who's mind is it ok to choke a player or "willing to kill" mentality? The IC game has moved on from the Glynns of the world, he was never the fastest player and the days of hitting a high ball into the square and hope and pray that a big guy can grab it are over, fine for a club game. The current Galway squad does not lack mettle, I don't see them being pushed off balls what I see is jaded, older team that lacks pace, does not have well oiled game strategy and loses concentration in vital parts of the game. Now tell me how Mr. Glynn is going to solve that,"
I must have watched a different Limerick game this year where we could not win a single puckout and got utterly dominated in the air.

The stand looks desperate and it would be a small job to clean it.

Because they had to try and get some high profile teams to use the dome, so they used the only competition they have full control over to do it. Big PR offensive about the dome lately after various club teams refused to play on it due to increased risk of injury.

Replying To galway19:  "Add in Turloughmore as well"
Hardly a surprise - Turlough not a force in any way shape or form since the helmet was invented.

Brendan's pushing hard for admission to the Roscommon intermediate championship yet again. We might see Rory Cunningham in blue and yellow yet.

I agree that the goalkeeper was only doing what he was told, but it would be impossible to argue that he executed his instructions with anything approaching competence, the second goal being the prime example. It is very hard to see any bright spots from yesterday's performance. We are a negative team and dire to watch, even on our best day. A one-man full forward line, and swarm the midfield in the hope that will compensate for our all too obvious defensive inadequacies. I don't see how we will stop McBrearty and Murphy.

Replying To GDL:  "Have to disagree there, Liam Silke is a quality player, a Denis Irwin type player 7 or 8 out of 10 most matches. He won't be missed till he is not available, I believe he is about to qualify as a doctor and when that happens he may not be available for selection as more important things in life than playing for Galway and getting online abuse happen. Multiple managers can't be wrong picking him over a long period of time. His best position would be in the halfback line but we never see that as he does a job for the team. He is also never injured and is always available, he is the one player you can depend on all the time to turn up."
Good post, Liam.

Replying To galway19:  "Thought Burke was fine yesterday. Linked the play well in the second half and didnt waste possession. He isn't there to kick four points from play every game but I think you will notice his influence with Comer and Walsh around him with the space he can create for others."
We have quite a few players whose role it is to link the play, or run.

Personally I have no interest in anything anyone from Mayo does, and I don't think any other self-respecting Galway person should either.

Replying To crankyincorofin:  "Con O'Callaghan is working in Tuam but living in Corofin, and I know he's told people he will be in with Corofin next season. A big addition."
He was in the Man of Aran on Tuesday evening. My Father got a photo with him. Didn't realise he was working locally - any chance he would tog with Galway?

He wasn't fouled. There is no concerted campaign by referees to give frees against him either. We are better than those sort of conspiracy theories - leave that to the Northerners.

Replying To Mayonman:  "Well said about Danny. His shooting was always his weakness and last year he really upped his game. Hopefully he will kick on because the other aspects of his game are top class."
I think last year for Danny illustrated the benefit of finally having a reasonably sensible coach in charge.

Replying To Alwaysencourage:  "Think you might find that they are Turloughmore hurling pitches."
There's a hurling pitch there too. It's many of the same lads involved in the hurling that are getting the football going. Fair play to them - great for the community here.
