Mayo captain Paddy Durcan is set to undergo a scan to learn the extent of the knee injury he sustained in the latter stages of yesterday’s win over Cavan.

Kevin McStay’s side got their All-Ireland SFC group stage series off to the perfect start with a comfortable 0-20 to 1-8 win over the Breffni in Castlebar.

The only down side for the hosts was the sight of their skipper Durcan having to be carried off the pitch after the final whistle with a knee issue.

Speaking to media afterwards, McStay confirmed that the Castlebar Mitchels clubman would be having a scan and added that they “will know more in 72 hours but the medical team are quite hopeful”.
